I'm in again. My budget is going to be £350 for the year and my criteria is 'DO I LOVE IT, DOES IT SPARK JOY'.

I haven't spent anything in the sales, but may hit the charity shops in a couple of weeks when hopefully all the not quite right presents will end up there :rotfl:

This year I WILL stick to my budget :D

    Hello
Please may I join this year?
I don't know about a budget just yet but I need to spend less due to a change in my personal circumstances.
I think I was shopping to cheer myself up anyway, so maybe this will change.
Also trying to lose weight so really should make do with what I have for the moment.
I don't think I've gone a week without buying something my whole adult life, so anything will be an improvement!
Have already indulged a little in the sales but will rethink that tomorrow and see if some can go back.
Will post every week and am sure I will be inspired by you all!

I really want to enjoy my clothes this year and experiment a bit with my style. I'm newly self-employed & have more leeway .... this feels like fun!! :D

Being self employed is brilliant for the freedom! I've never really had a proper job (well 1 working nights for royal mail), I went self employed pretty much straight from uni. So my wardrobe has never contained "work wear". Some days I wear crazy combinations, others I don't even get dressed out of PJ's (that is a goal this year to get dressed every day lol!). It's brilliant, I discovered a couple months ago I can't dye over my salon highlights, however wash in wash out colours do work, so I've been pink and blue and I currently have bright purple hair..... :D

(excuse the arty farty pic I'm doing a 30 days of craftiness hashtag on instagram and that was my pic for 'day 1 - you' )

I was thinking when catching up on the thread about my £1 per 1lb, and realised I have the fanciest of weddings to go to this summer so I better start losing!! I've figured I have 32 weeks, I'm going to aim for 2lbs a week which would put me half way to goal and give me £64 to spend on a pretty dress lol. So that's my aim, and MUST NOT SPEND ANY ELSEWHERE! :|

Another one here who loves Sketchers, but my slip on ones wore out in the autumn after a few years wear. Currently using trainers that DD bought and didn't like, but when they wear out I'll replace them with Sketchers - probably new - I'm unlikely to buy footwear in the CS.

Was out for the day yesterday but managed to walk past all the clothes shop sales.
Spend less now, work less later.

Your hair is a lovely colour Pixtotts. I'm very impressed that you went straight into self-employment from Uni - it's taken me so long to get to that point ! But hey - I've taken the plunge now!!! I can really understand the all-day-PJ temptation :o but there is something about getting showered & dressed in the morning (even if no-one will see you all day) that sets an intention for the day, don't you think? - it's one of my goals for the new year too. I've got a really beautiful ankle length mirrored skirt that I've started to wear around the house - it makes me feel really happy when I wear it & it's lovely and warm because it's so heavy. So more of that kind of thing for me in 2016 :)
Shifting my energy for 2020 :heart::heart:

somerandom Thankyou :) That is exactly my hoping that if I get up get dressed etc, I will have a bit more motivation. Wearing something that makes you happy is such a brilliant idea.

My friend actually just sent me a facebook invite to her anniversary party this summer telling us to bring fancy dresses, wedding/ bridesmaid/ ball gowns, because she wants to put her wedding dress back on for an hour and take pictures, I thought it sounded so much fun. Thinking about it why does the fact that noone will see me mean I wear pjs all day, why not put on some heels and take it the other way, bit ott, my grandma passed away last year and we always made fun of her for keeping everything for best, even her new glasses at one point!! I'm going to try once a week to wear things I've been keeping for best :D especially shoes! I have a pair of irregular choice I've had 6 years and only worn a handful of times :(

"If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

I agree Mavvymoo....I have too many items that I've put away for best, what a waste of missed opportunities!:(

Claret008 and Gem-gem......I can't take credit from the 'shop from your own wardrobe' concept. I picked it up from this thread
