Hi Fabbers, I work a varied shift pattern & I'm finding it a bit difficult to fit in putting eye make up on before I go to work when I'm on early shift, I used a pink shadow & someone asked if I was getting a stye on my eye so I'm thinking maybes I should stick to neutrals & clear out my make up. I've had a dental check up & everything was fine. Today I'm going to day a bit house fabbing & time wasting on the internet too I expect.
Have a fab day everyone.0 -
Hi all:-)
Love reading all your posts about getting even more fab in 2016!
This year I really want to focus on having a really groomed appearance- regular haircuts, stay off biting my nails. I also want to drop more weight (don't we all :rotfl:).
Did get my first haircut of the year and replaced my tatty coat for starting a new job next week!0 -

Sounds good sugarbaby, (especially the weightloss!) great that you're looking after your hands too as your job could take its toll there.
Maddie, I'm interested in how you use the eyeshadow. I haven't used proper eyeliner for years but something softer might help.
For defining eyes, I'd certainly recommend an eyebrow pencil. I have my eyebrows waxed every couple of months and then keep them in shape with tweezers. I used to have a Benefit pencil but tried a Maybelline one which is much cheaper and very similar so I bought another at the weekend along with a lip pencil which I'd lost the habit of using.
Maman, these days I don't set foot outside the door unless I have put a few pencil strokes through my eyebrows, as you say it makes such a difference.
My "oh hell I'm late" eye makeup is a wash over the upper lid with Bobbi Brown Bone eyeshadow, then apply a little grey or mauve shadow to the lid, slightly darker in the crease and then with an eyeliner brush I add a soft smudgy line close to the upper lashes with one of the very dark shadows that crop up in every palette or quad, finish with the quickest ever sweep of mascara.
On a good day I use either a kohl pencil, coloured liner pencil or a gel liner and take a lot more care with mascara and sometimes blend more toning shadows, but I have to keep it fairly subtle as my upper lids are becoming hooded (the joys of being old:eek:)
astoryandasong I live in a very rural area with hardly any ethnic population, but I hope my friend is going to take me to the ethnic grocery store sometime, so I will look for and stock up on kohl pencils. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Hi fabbers,
I've managed to catch up with the thread.
Not much to report here. I'm seriously getting fed up with my weight and I really want to do something about it.
I'm working from home tomorrow, so I think I'll use the opportunity to revisit my weightwatchers stuff in peace and quiet.
Yesterday I popped into Tesco and bought a couple of items which were reduced in the sale. I bought some sparkly thick tights which have a purple tinge to them and some sparkly socks (think Michael Jackson) for £3.50. I'd really like to wear the socks as a statement item but I'm not sure I have the right stuff in my wardrobe to pull it off.
Last week at work, I wore skirts pretty much every day. I instinctively go for trousers but I always feel more groomed in a skirt, so it felt quite nice to wear skirts.0 -
The tights sound fab *chanie*:)
*Maddie* I found your post about eye make up really interesting; for quite a while now I've been following the advice that a lot of beauty experts give to "mature" women and I really pared down my eye make up to just a sweep of neutral shadow - lids only, mascara on top lashes and a subtle line of powder under the bottom lashes.
I realised though, that this was doing absolutely nothing for me! This past week or so, my eye routine is pretty much the same as yours, and imho, I look a heck a lot of better for it!! I'm finding that using a bright lipstick as *maman* recently suggested, is also helping to wake my face up a bit:)
I'm never going to look 20 again, but no reason to try to make myself invisible either:rotfl:
Jeans and sweater today as I'm spending most of the morning in the car and the afternoon in front of the ironing board!
In full make up!!:rotfl:
Have a good day all x0 -
Ellsbel- love a bright lip!
Treated myself to a new cardie from TK*axx and I feel super sophisticated in it I must say. Dug out my MAC 'Russian Red' lippy. Used to be scared of it as I thought my teeth were too yellow but since I started I always feel good.0 -
HI Fabbers,
Ellsbell you have inspired me to play around with an eye make up palette, I bought a few weeks ago - I have yet to start using it.
I've woken up this morning with a stinking cold. I had a sneezing fit last night and when that stopped, I was congested. Between DS wetting the bed and my congestion, I didn't sleep very well, so I'm rather tired. Luckily, I'm working from home today, so I have been able to take it easy and work from bed!!!0 -
So I've booked the surprise trip away for OH's 30th! I ended up going with Copenhagen. The flights worked out nicely (with Barcelona and Prague the flights meant that we basically lost a day) so we will arrive Friday morning and leave Sunday afternoon. I am pleased with the hotel, and have mapped out some places to go. I'm happy because it's a small enough place so that we can just walk around and explore.
Had a lovely massage last night (and because of that a nice early night!) and the lady said that she can tell how much stronger my muscles are (I go to the gym 4 times a week) so that made me proud.
Thinking about going blonde with my hair. It's currently orange (by choice, not accident!) and although I like it, I get so bored. I might pop into a hair salon for a colour consultation but that would mean I have to miss one of my lunchtime gym sessions to do it. Decisions decisions!
Also have decided to get a tattoo! Had the OH draw it on my arm at the weekend to see how I felt about it. Know the artist I want to do it, so it is a matter of going to the shop and speaking to them about it.
Reading all that back, is there such a thing as a third-life crisis!?! :rotfl:No more goo hoarding!

pq. And why not.........
Actually I think I might be having one too.:D. I certainly feel as if it's time to reinvent myself.
Well if Bowie and Madonna can keep reinventing themselves then there is no reason why we lesser mortals can't do the same.;)
I am just having a break from "kondoing". This time I am going much further than I have ever done in the past. I am disposing of things with wild abandon. .......and it feels just great - so liberating.
Took 4 bags to the ChaZzer, two boxes of stuff to the lady who Ebays for me, am currently loading the car for a tip run, I have a couple of boxes of stuff ready for the auction house and I need to contact the YMCA to do a pickup of heavy items.
I still have to go through dads flat yet, dreading it. He moves in a few weeks and I suggested we make a start now. He says he wants to move it all to my sisters and then go through it.......I give up with him.:rotfl:
Had a nice little mooch yesterday, picked up a couple useful bits in the sales - a cream crepe blouse, quite dressy for going out and some navy leather Loafers. Both half price so dead chuffed. Then a brown/black Paisley patterned needle cord jacket for £3.50 from the Chazzer. Bargain.
Saw a fabulous wedding outfit there, silver grey dress, matching coat, hat - unfortunately not my size. Would have been perfect. I'll keep looking - plenty of time yet.
Weighed myself this morning.......just holding steady - need to try harder. Wished I could Kondo the weight as easily as the house......0
