Hi fabbers,
I haven't had a chance to catch up on the thread, but I will.
I got caught out today in a rather un-fab way!!!
I put henna on my hair - for those who don't know, henna is really messy, so I wrap my hair in clingfilm and pop a wooly hat on top (the heat bring out the colour) and keep it on for hours. I wear old clothes in case the henna stains my clothes. Anyway, I ran into one of DS teachers from school. Well, she was his teacher last year. Typical, I never see anyone when I'm out normally and the one hideous day, I see someone I know.
On a slightly more productive note, I re-dyed my black jeans today. They had started to fade and I wanted them to be jet black. They seem to have turned out well, from what I can see.
 to being aught in the woolly hat!!:rotfl:
I've had the same problem with black jeans (which I love) fading quickly. Partly resolved by washing them inside out using 'dark wash' liquid from Waitrose although every wash adds to the cost of the jeans!;)
Did you use a washing machine dye?0 -
Morning all:)
Oh *chanie* - isn't that always the way?!! I'm sure the woolly hat looked very fetching though

Mind you, I'm tempted to dig a hat out myself today - I'm getting tired of all this wind - looks bleak outside, too!
Does washing machine dye "leave" the machine completely? I've often been tempted to use it but worry about residue getting onto my next wash.
Off to shower and dress. Warm and casual clothes today but will use body lotion, perfume and make up:)0 -
Good morning lovely ladies
Well it's pretty grim out there so I might have to rethink today's plans..
I know it's been something of a "not quite winter" but I'm getting a bit fed up with this murky wet weather. I look rather pasty and I'm ready for some warm spring sunshine.....
Hey ho. I'll just crack on. I'm on a mission - Kondo round 2 - yes I know we're supposed todo it all in one go, however I feel the need to
Revisit it all. Yesterday I made a start on the kitchen.
Where do I need the builder. Both here and in the flat.....nothing major. Our shower is playing up, it's the one thing we didn't replace when we moved in. We made do but I think it's had its day. Then just a few tweaks, change a couple of internal doors, decking and outside lights, nothing major.
Regarding the flat how much I do depends on whether I live there straight away or whether I let it out for a while. I'm still thinking the latter, letting it out and remaining here with DS2 for a bit longer.
The flat is basically OK as it is for letting out, just a bit of plastering where there has been a bit of damage and a lick of paint. If I move in then I would want to give it a more thorough upgrade, take it from OK to wow:rotfl:
I also need to transition from OK to wow. I think I'll book a hair appointment.
I might rethink the colour. On the whole I don't mind my white hair, it looks ok. I just really miss my auburn tresses......
I was watching Mary Portas the other day and I love her hair. Ok that might be a bit too red for me.
There was a lady on the cruise - very glamourous - a bit like Rula Lenska. Her hair was lovely - a sort of strawberry blonde - similar to Jane Asher's. She cheerfully admitted it was a dye job. I suppose by now Jane's hair colour is helped along too.
I just feel so washed out right now, perhaps Introducing more colour to my hair will give me a boost.
I also need to book an eye test, the chiropodist and my next Physio. Blood tests booked for next week.
Oh dear I'm becoming rather high maintenance........:rotfl:0 -
I watched Mary Portas and thought how good her hair looked too. The new stylist that's doing my hair has cut it in a very similar style. The main difference from my previous style is that it's cut into the back of my neck which sits so much better than trying to blow dry it under. I'm fortunate that my hair has been slow to show signs of grey but I've always had highlights to brighten the natural mousey colour and they tend to blend in any grey bits. Years ago, platinum blonde was all the rage but now I have a mixture of gold and caramel.
I couldn't cope with MK all in one go either. While Marie herself might not approve I've managed well with doing a cupboard/drawer at a time. What I like is that once it's done it stays done. I'm delighted with my drawers of jumpers and tops particularly. I think the re-visiting may be because it's not always easy to be ruthless the first time round. I need time to get used to the fact that I'm just not going to wear/use something. Not counting occasion wear I know that I've still got clothes I never wear. I suppose it's partly the 'not quite winter' which has meant I haven't worn some of the really cold weather clothes that I've needed in previous years but in some cases they just don't bring the joy!;)
Healthy eating's going well here. We've not eaten out for a couple of weeks so that's made a difference as it can be difficult to make wise choices in restaurants. Until I go out later, I'm just wearing leggings and a long sleeved top but good to feel trim in it.
I might join in a bit of MK today:).

I think a lot of us are feeling and looking a bit washed out at the moment, I feel the cold so badly, but still much prefer the crisp cold mornings, they seem to get the blood flowing around my body and it is nice to have naturally rosy cheeks, when I was younger I used to hate it when my cheeks flushed through embarrassment or lack of confidence, but it would be nice now not to have to remember to apply my blusher every day.
The other thing that makes me look better now that I am grey (and pale) is to emphasise my eyes much more, I am experimenting with different colours and just even adding a darker, deeper shade of eye shadow as an eye liner to my quick everyday make up really lifts my look:D
Loving reading about everyone's outfits, I have bought a pair of orchid coloured skinny jeans (Boden) and a dark denim pair of jeggings from CS so I am now kitted out in correctly fitted jeans and trousers, need to look again at my skirts, but think that there is only 1 that needs to go and will not be replaced:D
I will start going through summer clothes soon, lots not needed now I am retired, and quite a lot of those I do love are too big. The manager of "my" CS has said that I can start shipping things in anytime as she has lots of storage space:D
ETA - joy of joys, the sun has just come out, it feels so much more cheerful! The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
My kondoing has taken a year and is still ongoing....
Not sure you ever stop.
I also know that "February" skin feeling. Tinted moisturiser/BB cream helps. In fact I found some garnier BB cream in the pound shop :T
My weight is creeping back up so I need to give it a little attention, only a couple of pounds but it can be a slippery slope...I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I KMd most of my house last year and love the difference it's made, it's a good job as well since I'm still ill and haven't managed to clean in over a week but on the plus side I actually got some sleep last night!
I have to go out today so I'm going to wear a black and camel dress, black wrap cardi and my knee high black boots. I will do my hair but probably won't put on make up as between blowing nose and streaming eyes it won't last five minutes.
i love the cold winter mornings as well maddie. It's so pretty when the grass is crunchy and sparkly with frost.konMarie and fabbing all the way
Weight loss challenge starting 11st loss in November 4lb0 -
I'm enjoying the luxury of a slow start this morning:)
Another cuppa, then I'll shower, dress and get on. Navy jumper, smart jeans and some silver accessories for me today, I think.
I'm meeting a friend later for coffee and a natter, but also have errands to run and some housework to do, so this outfit will cover all bases!
Not much else to report - hope everyone who is feeling poorly gets better soon, and that no one has been hit too hard by those awful winds x0 -
Hello fellow fabbers, I am still making an all round effort with pampering my hands and feet, wearing clothes that flatter my figure and losing weight. As I am now a cleaner, I do not need any other form of exercise. I usually leave work aching all over, but it is a good feeling knowing I am using my body in the right way. I have lost 8lbs in weight in only 2 weeks thanks to the job and trying to eat a lot more healthily than I used to.0

Sounds good sugarbaby, (especially the weightloss!) great that you're looking after your hands too as your job could take its toll there.
Maddie, I'm interested in how you use the eyeshadow. I haven't used proper eyeliner for years but something softer might help.
For defining eyes, I'd certainly recommend an eyebrow pencil. I have my eyebrows waxed every couple of months and then keep them in shape with tweezers. I used to have a Benefit pencil but tried a Maybelline one which is much cheaper and very similar so I bought another at the weekend along with a lip pencil which I'd lost the habit of using.
Had a clear out of my make up bag and washed it this morning. So it's only what I use every day that's in there now. I've also washed my glasses (again!) as it's my new resolution. Does anyone use wipes or any other recommendations for cleaning.
Not too much happening here, a few errands could be run but not essential.:)0
