So, OH and I were walking into town this morning. For the walk more than anything. I put on my 10 year old brown coat that cost £30 from a per una outlet shop, said "I hate this coat, it really drags my skin down" and resolved o look for another. However, I have pledged to not spend any money on new clothes if possible.
We went into the cancer research shop and there was a brand new stone coloured quilted coat for £20 :T I nearly donated my old one then and there and just wore the new one home, but thought I'd better give it a wash first.
Now if only I could do that for the new trousers I need......I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

I don't want to start buying clothes this size as I think I'll give up and just settle!
That's exactly what motivated me to tackle weight loss. I was a size 16 and blankly refused to buy a size 18. To be honest, most of my clothes were probably stretched into 18s but that was my turning point.
Although I'm a massive Slimming World fan I would recommend the 7 day sample menu even if you're not thinking of joining. It's a good healthy way of eating.
Sorry the house wasn't what you wanted LL but I'm sure you knew you'd have to kiss a few frogs.;) You've done well to lose the holiday gain so soon.
How much longer before you give in your notice ellsbel. Well done for holding it together while you were on the phone (very professional) but that shouldn't be happening.
What a result with the coat VJsmum and you with the trousers Maddie.:T When I lost weight I used CSs a lot and I still browse. It got me into experimenting with colours. emptypurse, I think I'd suggest spending a lot on classics but going to SMs or Primark or Matalan for some more 'trendy' things or for colours you're not sure of. Also, I think there is an ageless form of dressing to aim at. For example, jeans, a nice top and a scarf with boots or ballet pumps is probably something that suits all ages from teenagers upwards. I've been admonished for this before but I really hate M&S classics. And why not ask your friend for some advice. I don't mean tell her you feel inferior, just ask where she buys things how she chooses etc. There's nothing people like more than talking about themselves;).
I've had a pampering session today too. Probably the first defuzzing for a month:o. Maddie, I have a routine where I cream myself all over then clean round the bathroom while it soaks in. Then I put either a bathrobe or nightshirt on for a while until after I've blow dried my hair. Obviously I don't have time for that every time but I plan it that way when I can.
Nothing much else planned for today except for a lovely roast.:drool:0 -
I finally started couch to 5k today. Running for one minute was really, really hard. I was drenched in sweat and bright red by the end. I think I'll have to repeat a few weeks but I'll try and stick at it.
Maman I think I need to have a look at the SW recipes. I like the idea of eating properly as a lifestyle change..Mortgage overpayments 2018: £4602, 2019: £7870

sofarbehind - when I did my first run of the C25K program I never thought I'd managed 5km let alone 10km! I still get bright red and sweaty, but I go much further while I'm doing it! Well done on taking the first steps.
Lots of people over last night - managed to send most of the excess food home with people this morning. I'm only here for another week before I go off for work for a bit, plus I really don't need cheesecake and biscuits and cake lying around. I need to cut up the rest of the cake to freeze for when the kids are here and double check the fridge for anything else that can be frozen.0 -
Thanks greenbee. I'm embarrassed by how hard I found it to run for a few seconds! I keep reminding myself it's just that I'm unfit and hopefully in a couple of months I will be able to run for 30mins however unlikely that seems right now. I have to admit I did feel good afterwards when it was all over. It's encouraging to hear from someone who has been through the same and turned into a proper runner! Eventually I would love to be at a similar fitness level to you. Just keeping it up will be the hard part..Mortgage overpayments 2018: £4602, 2019: £7870

:T I'm full of admiration for those of you who exercise. I'm not exactly a couch potato but I know I could do so much better:o.
Here's the SW sample menu plan:

Good evening fabbers.
I'm getting ready for work tomorrow. Hopefully, next week will be better than last week was.
I said upthread that I wanted to learn to bake and so I made a cake today. I had all of the ingredients, so it didn't cost me anything. The recipe didn't specify the type of sugar and all I had was dark brown sugar, but sugar is sugar, right? The main thing was that it tasted nice and the children enjoyed helping.
I do feel my confidence has taken a small wobble at work but I will be fine. I guess my job doesn't excite me, although the people are great and I have flexibility, so I wouldn't want to leave.
Whilst I don't work in mental health or indeed do I know much about it, I do see a lot of poor mental health in the workplace. I'm truly thankful that I don't have ill health but I'm aware that it could happen to anyone, so I want to keep healthy and not get stressed out, so I'm going to focus in my outside of work interests like knitting.0 -
I have had a lovely relaxing day today which culminated in having a really bubbly bath and a face mask. My finger nails have all been trimmed and shaped and I have applied a coat of Ciate Knight in Shining Armour treatment as my nails feel a bit dehydrated.
I have got my meals ready for tomorrow. So hopefully a good start to the week.0 -
Evening everyone :j
It's so nice to read everyone supporting each other on here! What a friendly bunch:T
Quite a lot of posts from this thread inspires me to make more of myself so thank you to you all:beer:
My aim this year is to get fit and healthy. I know I'll never get back down to a size 10 but I'd be very happy with a 14 (secretly wishing for 12 though :rotfl:)
At size 18 at the moment it's a long road ahead! Unfortunatly I'm not a solid 18 it's a very Un toned 18 pushing to the next size
I've tried so many times to just eat healthily but my stressful lifestyle just sends me heading for the chocolate and coca cola.
So tomorrow I'm starting the juicemaster 5 day! I'm not sure how I'll get on but I'll give it a shot! It will be the withdrawal from the sugar and caffeine that will hurt
Once I've got into the swing and maybe a bit of confidence I'll head back to the gym and maybe a nice swim.
I love reading about the outfit choices as it pushes me to try something different than my blacktrousers and black top
I look forward to reading more inspiring posts tomorrow :beer:A new start awaits!!0 -

I don't know an awful lot about caffeine as I have (fortunately) not had a problem with it, but I am sure that I have read very recently not to go cold turkey on giving it up as the result can be the most awful headaches lasting a while, but to sale back cutting back a little more each day. If I have got this very wrong, hopefully someone will be along soon and advise. Also to be aware that juices containing too much fruit can cause blood sugar to spike for some people.
Good luck, I am sure that now you have set your sights on being fitter and slimmer it will work well for you.:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0
