Hi Maman
I have never read the Marie Kondo's book but I will have a look.
You are right about buying clothes when you are not happy about your size or shape as this is exactly what I have been doing.
I must think I will look better with something new rather than something I have already worn.
It also makes sense when you said about how much it cost and how many times you have worn it.
I am definitely not buying any more clothes and the only way I am going to feel better about myself is to lose some weight.
So thank you for your advice as it makes a lot of sense and I am going to make a start at clearing some things out.0 -
Thanks for the nail tip Maman. I will definitely use my nail oil daily now. Already use lots of hand cream every day. I fabbed myself up this morning to go to an audition for an ITV show. It gave me confidence to know that I looked as good as I could. I was groomed from head to toe.0

Afternoon All
I am using an unexpected half hour to catch up on posting. I'm hosting a big family gathering tomorrow (there'll be 14 of us) so have been busy getting ready for that as well as the normal stuff I do. I've got a ham on top of the stove and a turkey crown in the oven with sausages and chicken pieces. They will all be served cold for tomorrow's buffet. I've also made a liver and bacon casserole for my daughter and partner to have tonight with creamy mash and shredded cabbage and 2 apple crumbles. I just want to make some individual chocolate mousses for tomorrow and I should be done apart from assembling it all in the morning with salads etc. I've already got other desserts and mince pies sorted, plus a big cheeseboard, smoked salmon etc.
I'm going to be quite casual tomorrow, in a loose fitting burgundy angora jumper and leggings with jewellery to smarten in up. Today I'm wearing a black and white knee length dress with thick black tights and will wrap up warm in a cream coat, velvet scarf and knee high boots to go collect from the station.
I've got a hair appointment in an hour and am having a cut and colour so my hair should be looking its best for the weekend. I shall walk to the hairdressers and back, plus I walked to yoga and back this morning so will get my steps in for the day. I've had a prawn and avocado salad for lunch, keeping up the healthy eating.
I second the Marie Kondo approach mentioned earlier. I did my drawers and wardrobe earlier this year and they have stayed so tidy and easy to find everything. I still weed out the occasional outfit and anything I feel at all dubious about goes straight to the charity shop. I haven't regretted any of the things I've got rid of either.
Better go and check the oven

Maman - love the boots, and thanks for the tip about the dark wash liquid, I will source some.
RoseWood - food sounds lovely, I hope that you have a great time.
lollyfin - all sounding very promising, great progress.
Mary- The major "thing" about Marie Kondo is "does it bring you joy?", if you decide to go with this, you will find the impulse purchases just dry up, as anything less than perfect and joyful will not be coming home with you. Today I tried on (CSs) 3 pairs of trousers, 1 tunic top, 1 waterfall cardi, 1 gorgeous cream poncho, 2 body warmers and 1 casual top and the only things that came with me are the cardi and the casual top, and a less than perfect waterfall cardi in the same colour as the new one will be leaving. (if they had been perfect I would had to make some tough choices:rotfl:)
sugarbaby 125 - Great list, I have still to put mine to paper (screen), quite a few of them will be the same as yours:)The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Oh maman those boots are lovely! £20 is an amazing price for boots, I might have to have a look for those the next time I'm in town. Are they comfortable?
I am proud of myself today. I was brave and went back to the gym and did another gentle class with a different instructor. This one was really kind and helped someone else who got a bad cramp. I kind of enjoyed it.Mortgage overpayments 2018: £4602, 2019: £7870

maman I really like your red boots. What a fab bargain.
rosewood I hope you all have a nice time tomorrow. How was your hairdressers appointment?
Today was my first 'normal' Friday following Christmas and I had quite a few errands to run. I wouldn't say it was a fab Friday, but I was presentable and I wore some blusher and lipstick.
Annoyingly, we have quite a fee big spends this month, which will need to come out of savings. One of which is our washing machine. It developed a fault a couple of years ago, which played up periodically, but it's now happening more frequently and whilst I'm tempted to wait until it conks out completely, I think it will be too stressful for us working full time with young children.
I had one of those days at work where I felt really crap at my job. A couple of things have gone wrong. I'm okay, but my confidence has taken a bit of a hit. I'm not going to worry about it and I'll bounce back.0 -
well done sofarbehind! Keep up the good work.
I went to my dance class yesterday but have done no exercise today as I am madly preparing for visitors so have had a LOT to do in the house. Didn't have time for a run before my hair appointment, but did manage to return a couple of things and do a CS drop off.
Exchanged a duplicate snood (two people gave me the same thing for Christmas) at the white company for a lovely cream and pale pink poloneck (in the sale, so my credit got me about twice what it would have done before). I bought a lovely dark red oversized cashmere jumper online in the sale which was delivered yesterday and both jumpers got my mother's approval today, which is good! And my hairdresser liked my new earrings. I've also been given some lovely sheepskin mittens with a matching hat for my work trip, and another wine-coloured cashmere jumper that will look great with smart trousers as well as jeans.
I wore makeup to my hair appointment, and made an effort with my clothes, which I haven't tended to in the past. My haircolour is more subtle than usual, as she decided to strip colour out at the bottom and it came out really nicely, so there was no need to add another colour to the lighter bit. It's beautifully cut as usual. I love my hairdresserShe's currently on maternity leave, but I get to see her on her KIT days

What a bu**er with the washing machine at just the wrong time. Sometimes you can get a replacement PDQ so worth waiting until it dies but if it's causing stress maybe better to bite the bullet.
Good attitude to the work problems:T. Try to rest over the weekend and start afresh on Monday.
Hope the house viewing goes well LL.0 -
Fabbing fell by the wayside at the end of last year but back to try again .
Some good progress has been made so far, back to online WW (end of Nov) now minus 7lb!, perfume has been worn every day this year, as has make but very minimal (tinted moisturiser, mascara and lip gloss) nails have been painted weekly (part of Sunday night bath routine). I even wore a dress to work this week instead of my self imposed uniform of black trousers. Just need to keep going. No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries: July stash 72/0 INS/2 UU/0 TA0 -
Morning Fabbers
Loving the tips; especially to soap and the MK approach to do you really love it. Want to declutter my clothes so may try that.
I think our bodies change from time to time. Moisturiser doesn't need to be expensive but you should make sure it suits and use it! Decleor generally suits me.
Had a pedicure this week. Off for a manicure and a hair cut today. Trying to get balance between fabbing and not spending too much so trying to gauge when to recolour and have keratin blow dry.
Happy weekend all
