Oh Maddie that is a shame especially when you have spent a long time, and a lot of money, acquiring good clothes. Would it be worth hanging on to a few of the clothes you really like incase your weight increases when your IBS gets settled?? I'm not sure if you are on medication but it could be that if/when this helps then your weight will increase again?

Fabbing has been going fine at this end with nightly cleansing and moisturing and have been putting on my cuticle nourishment each night as well as my hand cream.

I filed my nails last night after a second day of intensive cooking and the subsequent washing up had made a bit of a mess of my nails. Didn't put any polish on them last night as I wanted to put on my conditioning nail polish but could not find it. Will have a search tonight.

Back to work today so had a shower already and just about to go and moisturise and put my make up on.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Good Morning Everyone

Hi J Empty Purse. Good luck with the wardrobe sort out. It's liberating.

Maddie - sorry to hear your IBS is troubling you so much. I agree if you really love your clothes why not hang onto them for a while, if you have the space of bourse. Have you tried those vacuum bags. I often use them to store clothes, linens etc.

It's a wet and very miserable day here so I'm just going to have a nice stay at home day pottering about.

I'm going to do so more kondoing in my bedroom and then have a bit of a sort out in the kitchen.

I've seen a little house I like the look of so am going to book a viewing......hopefully this weekend.

Greenbee - thanks for the heads up on long sleeve t shirts. I could with a few of those. Great for layering.

Not much news this morning. Going to have a bit of a mini pamper session, defuzz, facial, eyebrow tidy and then get cracking with the bedroom.

    Have a great day. Xx

Maddie, is it worth getting them altered? Even a little at a time, it might be cheaper than replacing them...

Hi everyone I would like you join this thread.

I looked at last year's tread and was really impressed by how good it made you feel just reading how everyone was getting on with their fabbing.

I need to make changes to myself this year as I have a big year ahead as I will be 60 in May and I will be retiring from my job. Along with that I will be 10 years married on my 60th birthday.

I felt fab at 50 but since I have had a few health issues but mainly I have put on weight and not done enough exercise.

I need some help in getting myself in shape so I think joining this thread will help.

I was thinking just that. Unfortunately for tailored things it can be very expensive. I have a lovely Joules tweed jacket which I can't bear to part with but it's too big:(. Must try it on with a thick jumper underneath.;)

Talking of jumpers: this morning I've handwashed one angora and one cashmere that I've worn over Christmas. Does anyone have a system for how you store clothes you've worn but aren't dirty IYSWIM. I washed the jumpers because I was reluctant to put them away unwashed and I was fed up of them folded on my bedroom chair. It's particularly moths and woollen items that bother me but part worn clothes in general too. Any ideas?

Experiment ongoing with sore eyes. Yesterday with no face creams my eyes were fine. Today I've just put on moisturiser and kept it well away from eye area but I can feel eyes beginning to sting. Unfortunately it could be an expensive process experimenting with moisturisers and I've no idea why I should suddenly take against my current one??

Off to have my feet done this afternoon so that'll be a nice pamper. While in the city centre I'll collect the White Stuff pyjamas I treated myself to and might have a quick browse in the shops too. Sometimes when I'm not really looking I fine the best things.

Sorry this post has been a bit me, me, me. :)

Hi Mary it's great here loads of encouragement and reminders of little things we can do to make us feel amazing.

Maman have you tried coconut oil or olive oil on your face as a substitute for moisturiser. I really like it but I have very dry skin so I'm not sure if it would be too heavy for more normal or oily skins.

I'm going to do my eyebrows today it's a job I hate but makes such a difference to me, makes me look more awake which is always good
konMarie and fabbing all the way

Maman - I would second the idea of olive or coconut oil. I find a lot of moisturisers affect my eyes, especially the Aldi ones. Even special eye creams can bother me.

I bought some duty free Clinique whilst on holiday. My eyes are fine but my face is starting to feel a bit tight and dry. I think I need industrial strength moisturisers these days.

As you say it gets expensive trying to find the right products.

I have recently wasted my money on Clinique, Elizabeth Arden and Aldi so I have decided to bite the bullet and just order some Dermalogica from tinterweb. It's a bit pricey but my skin likes it. I will use up the other stuff on my feet, knees and elbows. Although I really am determined to start making my own potions again. I seem to have fallen out of the habit.

I have to say I feel like I'm getting like an old prune these days, my skin feels so dry. I was fine on holiday - using sun lotions, after sun, body lotions etc several times a day, my skin felt great.

I think what I really need is to drink more water. I tend to forget in winter and of course central heating doesn't help.

Btw I picked up a gorgeous black dress by Coast from the CS for £3 - as new, not for me but for DIL. I gave it her last night - she was chuffed to bits. Honestly you can just about buy a cup of coffee for that price and it looks really classy.

It's so lovely to finally have a daughter to buy nice things for, although I did buy DS2 a nice sweater in Sainsbugs the other day. Half price in the sale of course.......

Ps - re slightly worn items, I keep one drawer for them, although I hang them first to air them.

I always air coats etc too before I put them back in the wardrobe.

I currently have a couple of Silk dresses which need washing but They can't be spun or wrung, they have to drip and I'm just waiting for a decent drying day. They are lightly folded in a basket.

Moths don't like lavender so I put lavender bags in with sweaters or anything that might be attacked by moths. In drawers bars of soap work well too. The soap doesn't necessarily need to be lavender, anything that has a fairly strong fragrance seems to work and of course they make your clothes smell nice.

Places like Tk Maxx and M&S often have lovely posh soap on offer,

I bought some guest soaps - the small ones - from M&S. There were five little soaps in each pack. The packs were on bogof so it worked out quite cheaply to do all my drawers and cupboards.

I've just had a call from the EA - going to view the little house on Saturday.

It's a little town house/mews type house in a quiet little terrace in a nice part of the city, within walking distance of all the trendy shops, restaurants, bars, cathedral, and museums. No river views unfortunately but it does have a garage and parking - rare as hens teeth in the city. It has a small rear garden and even a postage stamp sized garden to the front.

I can just about afford it........:rotfl:

Fingers crossed.......it might have my name on it.

It's a bit smaller than I would have liked but hey I did say I wanted to downsize and live a simple life.......;)

LL the house sounds lovely - maybe small and perfectly formed is the way to go?

Maman is it worth a phone call to enquire if they have changed your current moisturiser?

Maddiemay have you tried Phase Eight clothes? I find they tend to be cut a little small for their size so always buy a size up. They may be just right for you if you are between sizes?

  • Hi fabbers

Thanks so much for your kind words after the gym class disaster, they really mean a lot to me. It has taken me a couple of days to get it into perspective but it isn't the end of the world. I can't believe how ridiculously upset and embarrassed I've been.

Greenbee you are right about building up slowly and explaining how you managed to do this was really helpful. I'm just very unfit and it will take time to change. My legs are still really hurting today! I was being unrealistic and need to slow down. I will go back to the OK class and try Pilates on Monday. I MUSTN'T LET THIS PUT ME OFF! It is just telling me how much I need to go. Unfortunately I can't exercise at home as I only have a tiny rented room. So it's deep breath and grow up time..

Greenbee I'm glad your hospital appointment was OK. Puts it all into perspective for me!
LL I really like the sound of where you live. Fingers crossed for the house.

    Thanks again all.
