sofarbehind - don't be discouraged, but take things gently. One class is probably enough to begin with. When I started back exercising I signed up for a class in my village known (but not advertised) as 'keep fat'. The oldest person who goes is 86 and an inspiration. Three hip replacements and two knee replacements in the class... so it's very gentle, but fun..

I did JUST that class for a term (and walked quite a bit). And found it hard. Now I only really go for the social side, as I find it fairly undemanding. I have worked my way up over two years to two additional pilates classes (started one of them after a term of keep fat), a dance class (started last summer - again, an 'old ladies' class in the village, but fun), swimming training and running (I did nearly 10km on MOnday - first time in AGES) both on my own and with a local group.

So start small. Go back to the first class again next week, and just do that. Other than that just walk, maybe have a gentle swim, but no more until the Easter holidays. If you push yourself too hard you will fail, and give up which is not what you want.

So be brave, try again with the class you managed and forget the other one. YOu won't be the only person in your situation at this time of year, but you can get through it and last beyond the end of Feb, by which time nearly all the people who started classes for the New Year will have given up...

    Good morning lovely ladies.

    Guess what.......

    We're famous.:rotfl::rotfl:

Our thread has been mentioned in Martin's Money Mail this week.......

Watch out world - the Fabulous Women are about to take over.:D

Well how we all this morning.

Hope those who have returned to work are managing to keep up with their new fabbing.

Don't worry if you slip a bit, remember the 80/20 rule.

Also remember Rome wasnt built in a day. It took a long while to become a frump - frumpdom probably crept up you slowly and stealthily - when you weren't looking. So don't be hard on yourselves and set yourselves Impossibly high targets.

If you are a bit unfit then start gently with your new exercise programmes. Don't crash diet, just eat healthily.

Fabbing is often best done in small short bursts.

10 minutes a day is better than 1 hour once a week, especially when it comes to skin care. So remember just spend a few minutes each day, you'll soon see a difference.

How do you eat an elephant???

    One bite at a time........;)

    Have a great day.

    Keeeeep fabbing!!!

 hello everyone. I've only just subscribed to the new thread so a bit behind the game. Lovely to see new and old faces. There's no way I could read through all the posts so I'm just plunging in.

:wave:taff good to hear all going well.:D

That's brilliant. This is a great thread, not just for the content but the supportive atmosphere.

Function better when I have a project!

Couldn't agree more. I lost weight with Slimming World and have become a convert. I know it's possible to lose weight on your own by counting calories or whatever but I find SW gives me a structure and then that's a massive help.

    3. try to make an effort with my make up every day; since having the babies I've found that mascara hurts my eyes, looking for a decent moisturising one that's suitable for contact lens wearers. I've heard Blinc is good?

I've been having problems with sore eyes too ruby. I don't wear contacts so I'm trying to work out what it might be by elimination. Most days my eyes start streaming about lunchtime and then it passes off about mid afternoon. I've tried leaving off mascara and that didn't help. Today (as I'm not planning on going anywhere) I've not put on any moisturiser or eye cream. Skin feels horrible but I need to find out.

I haven't set any 2016 goals formally yet, although there's a lot of maintenance going on for routines established with the help of this thread. probably the first three are maintain target weight, dress smartly and wear make up. I've also got my 'to do' list from last month to finish but almost there. I just need to make cover for footstool in sitting room. It's cut out and ready to go.

    Back Soon:).
  • Scales haven't budged yet. Then again I did eat a bit much yesterday, not doing so well at the one sweet thing a day. Especially when I'm so bored and stressed in the office (final 6 months of PhD, joys). That and I didn't gym yesterday, shame on me. Did do 15000 steps though.

Keeping up well with the regular hair wash and such though.

Plan for the day is healthy(ish) lunch, I have my fruit and cereal bar (and one square of chocolate and handful of yogurt raisins I already scoffed :o oops), gym straight after I leave. Then hair wash day again, and picking out colours for my nails even if I don't get around to doing them. I have beansprouts that need eating up for tea, so I'll find something I can eat with them. Probably the last of the christmas ham and some other veg. Hopefully planning will help me keep on track.

Hi all well I fabbed my house today, it's looking so much nicer. Then I fabbed myself after all that housework I needed it, hair washed, de fuzzed, perfume on and exfoliated my face.
In the magazine Healthy this month you can get a free Dr organic rose ottoman eye serum or mascara(sorry can't remember what one) and it's only £3.20. I went for the eye serum and it smells and feels lovely.

Had a hospital appointment today (breast clinic, had an ultrasound, all OK for now). I considered going in my pilates gear, but changed my mind - smart jeans (J Brand, inherited from a friend who shrank out of them), black scoop neck long-sleeved T (tesco £5 - well worth a look... several colours), long grey wool jumper, grey merino snood, white down coat, black heeled boots. And makeup and perfume. I've realised that I need to get some non-work lipstick as the intense matt stuff that's great for work is a bit over the top for normal life!

Picked up some thermals in M&S for my work trip to Canada - they have tops in lots of lovely colours, including sparkly ones :)

Ordered a gorgeous-looking red cashmere jumper (excuse is that it's for work for Canada) in the Hush sale (while in the hospital waiting room!) so hope it fits... :)

greenbee pleased that your appointment went well and your outfit sounds nice. Clinique chubby sticks are supposed to be quite sheer, if you are looking for some new lipsticks.

lolly thanks for the magazine freebie tip. I must check it out.

pallindr0mic I eat when I'm bored too and gave been snacking at work.

ll it's exciting that we are famous, isn't it.

Everything is fine with me, I thought I'd just pop in to say hello.
  • What a great idea. Thank you for the welcome.:j:
I have been thinking along the same lines. I need a new look and outlook.
I want to break away from always wearing jeans. Spoke to a lady at work who always wears bright and unusual clothes and asked her where she got her clothes from. She suggested La Redoute - saw something on the site for discounts with this site so will look there.

I like the idea of going through my wardrobe so will try to part with some clothes!! I find it tough.

    Hope to find support here.

I treated myself to a manicure today, I have only been twice in the 4 years that I have lived here, neither time satisfactory in that at one the therapist nicked my finger and at the other it was rather uncared for, carpet needed a good vacuuming etc.

Pleased to report that the new (only opened last May) salon that I tried today was great, so I may go every few weeks to see if they can tame my unruly cuticles:rotfl: Nails now painted in Leighton Denny Really Royal, which is rather like Rouge Noir. Need to try and keep it pristine until tomorrow evening when we are meeting up with an old friend who now lives in Australia:D I will check the weather forecast before deciding what to wear, it is booked for 5:00 so not glitzy event (thank goodness).

I am having to ditch to CS so many of my really good quality clothes as they just hang off me:(:(:(, quite down about it as it has taken me years to acquire really lovely classics and will cost a lot of money to replace them, so will be going for a much pared down wardrobe. I am still struggling to maintain weight, just have to have a couple of days with a bout of IBS and 2 lbs will disappear.

This must sound odd to those trying to loose excess weight, but I was quite happy being a size 12/14 with a BMI around 22/23. I still have curves, but my arms and legs are scrawny. Having tried a few things on in the CSs, I have a nasty feeling that a lot of things will be just a touch too small in a 10 and too big in a 12, I must look upon it as a challenge to be overcome:D

Sorry for the whinge, poor OH is fed up with me sighing every time I try something on and doesn't really get it bless him:)
