Hi
I'm out at the Chinese at the weekend, what is the best thing to order with boiled rice.....I don't have a clue and will be drinking as well so need to do least amount of Syns as possible.
Thanks very much.0 -
Well, yes there is the caveat obviously. You can't eat as much chocolate as you want and lose weight - but they specify it's free food. You're also meant to have 1/3 of your plate for each meal speed foods to aid your weight loss. If you just ate pasta, potatoes etc without veg, fruit etc then you wouldn't do so well.
I don't think it's misleading really. I think that maybe this plan isn't suited to you, possibly.
My weight loss is currently about 19lbs in 8 weeks so it's going ok but I now just ignore the bit about eating as much potato/pasta/rice as I like because it simply doesn't work, even when combined with the correct amount of speed foods and following the plan carefully in every other way. However it was that promise which drew me to SW, as many others I suspect!Morello, I think somewhere it says eat until you are satisfied i.e. don't overeat.. I know our consultant always said that. I think it is a little misleading until you read the small print as it were, but that's just a clever marketing ploy..
Yes, that was my point really....sometimes there's a very fine line between a clever marketing ploy and plain misleading. In that video, she says it so often and so emphatically, there's no room for doubt. When I first watched it, I wondered what the catch was and now I know. Just not sure I understand why it doesn't say those particular foods in moderation, which is the reality (for me anyway) But maybe that wouldn't have drawn so many of us in in the first place? Anyway, just my thoughts! Hope everyone's having a nice evening.....big thunderstorm here in London! x0 -

Hi all. Just been on the SW website to refresh my memory about a few things, and decided to watch the main Food Optimising video again. Have to say, I don't really understand how they can say over and over again that you can "eat as much free food as you like, unlimited, night or day" because in my experience it just isn't true. If I take them at their word, I don't lose weight, it's that simple. Talking about pasta, rice, spuds, the stuff that makes you feel full and satisfied. I generally take the view that if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. What they actually mean is, as much as you like, so long as it's not too much, which is fair enough and far more believable. Still think it's a good plan but find that aspect of the marketing a bit misleading. What are everyone else's experiences/thoughts?
Totally agree with you. it annoys me too that they do that. They should readdress it and refer to portion sizes and the fact that 1/3 of your plate needs to be speed food. Otherwise its just misleading for people. I think everyone adapts SW though to suit themselves and takes the best of it to make it work for them.0 -
I know there's a new thread but I'm going to just post here because I've quoted!
Sorry to hear of your loss, Beanie x
Finding all the 'live for today -v- plan for the future' debate very interesting after having lost my dad so recently. He was only 69 and had been so fit and active until he was diagnosed with cancer, and I do wonder if he had any 'deathbed regrets' (a silly example: I know he always talked about going to the British Museum as he loved ancient history, but never got around to it). It makes me think about how I'm living my life now and what I'll regret at the end of my life. One of the main things is not having children and that's pretty depressing at 34 with no man on the scene, there's not a lot I can do about it. I do wonder if I should just run out and get myself pregnant by anyoneSorry I'm waffling on but it's a difficult thing to think about isn't it?
GFB - have you got anyone who can hide your scales for you? OH has hidden mine again as I was getting despondent weighing every day, I've called him some names but he won't tell me where he's hidden them :rotfl: I can't bear not weighing but I have no choice! It gets easier as the week goes on.. and it can't affect your mood knowing you lost/gained (but not really).
I'm the opposite - I've been weighing in every day this week to try to keep myself focused. I've actually found it easy to stick to plan this week for some reason? No idea why. Perhaps as I've been very busy I haven't had much time to think about eating anything between meals.
Ooh but re. portion sizes, I have been trying to fill up a bit on pasta etc rather than trying to have SP days - when I was trying those a couple of weeks ago I was just ravenous the whole time. Maybe I'm just feeling more satisfied? Can't wait till you get to 100 too Meg, i can't wait for the birthday party for that one!I missed you off the "target" list didn't i, sorry - :T:T:T to you for being on target! (maybe i should put a roll of honour on the first page of you lovely ladies!)
Brilliant idea!!
Right, better go and look at the new challenge!
