I don't understand why you didn't ask them this when you asked when the account was opened?

My understanding was as the welcome letter was dated 9th and switch completion date was the 7th she will be eligible for the incentive.

However after reading the this forums I have some doubts so I asked to confirm account opening date.

I will email them again confirming eligibility.

Received welcome letter (dated 24th Feb).
    Signed and returned signature form.

Received Debit Card and PIN today.

Do I have to wait for another letter for telephone banking before starting the switch or can I phone them?

I believe they send out switching forms that need returning, or at least reading? so the deadline is looking tight. 30 days is unreasonable when they are so slow.

    thanks

thx, will call in the morning.

Is it right that they send out confirmation documents for the switch? also do you have to return them or just call them?

    thanks

I wouldn't rely on them to do anything right, from personal experience!

re: the switch, I did it on-line in the first instance. It didn't happen. I also went into branch and was shown everything on screen. It didn't happen.

It's best to assume they will screw up IMO.

Call them today. Tell them you want to switch. Request the first available switch date. They will tell you to call back after you have received a switching pack. Call them again tomorrow and claim to have received and read the switching pack. Do not wait for it to actually arrive. They will ask you no questions about it, other than a confirmation that you have read and understood it. Simply claim that you have. This is what I did, and it worked perfectly.

Glad I did not move my main account to them.

Just been in to my local, stone faced woman glaring at an iPad at the door, did not even greet or say hello. Can't stand it, really gets my back up when they don't even say hello. Its just common curtesy, what is it with banks and not being able to find someone to stand there and smile?

There was another girl who was really nice helping someone at the machine, so not as bad as the Halifax over the road.

The paying in machine was from the Midland era, Get an envelope, get a slip, fill out, cash in envelope, put card in machine, tell machine how much, drop envelope into box, very 1970. Lloyds, you just put your card in, cash in, done.
  • All I can say is I hope I get this incentive and then I'm outta there!! Partner abandoned this effort to open and switch to them they were so bad, and I didn't start off too good was waiting so long.

Applied online but as usual couldn't verify my ID so they said I had to send back the standard signature form, and then either post a copy of ID and address or bring into branch. Thankfully I had just received a new council tax bill before it so I could use that for my address, as I moved house and they wouldn't accept internet copies, and if you sent it by post you can only use a bank statement for your ID.

So I went into branch to show all this and it took half an hour to open the account. Don't know why, as I had to actually go through all my information again that I had given in my online application. I confirmed that my account open date was that day, and NOT the date on the welcome letter as other people here have been told. Which is good for me as it gives me more time for the switch lol so i applied before 29th Feb (incentive deadline), account opened in branch 5th march and switch date is 18th march so I should get the bonus.

I also got 2 debit cards sent to me one for an advance account I never opened, and I only have the pin number for the wrong account. Hopefully things will go smoothly, and then I'm out.. I never had this much bother getting an account with Halifax, first first, and Clydesdale.. Applied online and that's it, opened. All these other ones including M&S can't seem to verify ID at all.

They really need to get their act together, Metro Bank you can walk in and have the account and card set up ready to go within half an hour, maybe less.
