    What sort of accounts did you close? With whom? Which account do you want to switch from whom to whom?

    I closed a load of current accounts in lloyds, transferred all money in to 1 account then shut 4 others.

    If I opened another basic account with lloyds, how long do I need to wait until I switch?

    I was going to give this a go but in the eligibility criteria it says you must agree to have your salary/regular income paid direct to the HSBC Bank account. As with other current accounts I was just going to transfer the requisite monthly amount (I was going to transfer my Yorkshire Bank accounts with direct debits).

    I did go through the previous thread and it wasn't too clear (or I missed it) if they would accept the transfer without.

    The £120 offer "eligibility criteria" is, quite simply, as follows...
    Eligibility Criteria for this offer

    3. We will make the Offer Payment described below if you comply with all the following requirements, namely:

    a) if you apply for an Eligible Account in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man during the Offer Period. The Offer Period is 29 December 2015 until 28 February 2016. Any applications received after the expiry of the Offer Period will not qualify for the Offer Payment. We may withdraw this offer before the end of the Offer Period. We will in advance of doing so, put a notice on our website.

    b) if the Eligible Account for which you applied is successfully opened;

    c) if you are not (and have not within the previous 6 months been) an existing HSBC current account holder when you apply for an Eligible Account (you may however hold a first direct and/or M&S Bank current account and still qualify). If you are opening a joint Eligible Account , this requirement must be met by at least one account holder;

    d) if you complete a full switch of a current account to your Eligible Account using the Current Account Switch Service (CASS) within 30 days of the date of your Eligible Account being opened. If you are opening a joint Eligible Account both account holders must do this; and

    e) provided you continue to hold an Eligible Account on the date we make the Offer Payment.
    Where, in the above (which, remember, are the ONLY eligibility criteria for the £120 payment), does it say you have to mandate your salary/pension/benefits to the account?

    Many thanks for that link. Yesterday I opened the link to apply for the HSBC Bank account and at the top of the application the link to eligibility requirements quoted the phrase about agreeing to have salary/regular income paid direct to the account.

    I have just gone through it again and got the details you gave just requiring £500 to be paid in so I am not sure what happened before but I am obviously pleased. Thanks again and I will now apply quickly before anything changes!
  • Applied for Advance. Thanks for the heads up. It's not impossible I'll be rejected (lots of changed circumstances recently) but nothing ventured, nothing gained! If it works out, I'll be taking advantage of the 6% regular saver too.

    Remember for the basic bank account depositing £500 per month, the regular saver is 4%

  • Seen this yesterday, hopefully I'll get another account ready in time for switching, hoping to do the halifax first this month as well!

    On the form where it asks,,will your regular income be paid into this account (i.e pay) did you say yay or nay?? I think this question could be a deal breaker..
    Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
