It's lovely when problems get sorted out, it all must be a load off your mind to be all organised now apart from the phone situation. Good luck with that:beer:
I'd hate to put a dampener on things but I'd personally be very wary of not taking out insurance that fully covers my illness. My brother 'did' New England in the Fall and he said his insurance cost more than the cost of the whole holiday package:eek:. His GP warned him not to skimp on having specific and full cover especially as he was visiting USA.
Phone all sorted now too
I understand about the insurance. If I were in a position that I thought my health could deteriorate that quickly in the space of a week, then I wouldn't be going. I just begrudge paying 100 times more than a 'healthy' person just because I've been stuck with this illness through no fault of my own. I'm taking all my meds and will continue with my treatments whilst I'm away, so I should be fine.
Will make a nice change doing my nebuliser on our private balcony!!

Sorry to have been AWOL for so long:o. RL has hit me for six and things won't be back to normal (if anything I do is ever normal:rotfl:) for a few weeks yet.
Just popping in to wish you, Emz, a brilliant and so much deserved holiday. Relish every minute of what sounds like a dream experience:dance:. You've probably already left anyway and won't get to see this until you get back, sorry about that if so. I have no internet access where I'm staying (about 150 miles from home) and only get to catch up on MSE and anything online on very infrequent trips home.0 -
Hey everyone (special hello to CBC - hope you are okay
)
I'm back from our cruise. It was good, but I'm not sure cruising is for me. It was a lot of hassle, and I just came back feeling tired if I'm honest (and not just because of the jet lag!).
Had a lovely day in Florida though, could have stayed there for the rest of the holiday and I would have been happier. We went on an airboat and saw lots of alligators. Then we went to a wildlife reserve type place and I not only ate a bit of alligator meat (quite nice), but I also held one and had one urinate on me!!
The sea was very rough on the last day and it made me feel quite ill. I've only just stopped feeling like I'm still on the ship.
At least I can say I've crossed that item off my bucket list. Also got my Apple MacBook today (typing on it now :T).
Off to bed now, but will be back tomorrow.

Evening
I need to get back into money making now that the holiday is over. I've decided to set myself a little challenge and see how quickly I can make an extra £1,000. This is on top of my wages and PIP, but I will include overtime.
I'm going to officially start tomorrow. I've already got 6 hours overtime lined up over the next few weeks (£44.46), which they have only just started dishing out (haven't had any overtime since before Christmas).
I'll come on here each day and update my progress. It'll be interesting to see how quickly I can earn the cash. I'll include Amazon vouchers, seeing as I can use those for birthday presents and other household items to save us money.

Day 1 - could do better!! Tennis distracted me and OH worked from home this morning.
I have completed a few offers and surveys, but nothing that will pay out yet. Must try harder tomorrow. I did work from 3-8 today, which included £12.96 overtime, so I'll start off with that.
Day 1 = £12.96 earned.

Hello Emz,
I hope you're ok and enjoying your personal challenge.

Just dropping in to say:wave:. I hope you are OK. I'm back home now after being away for several weeks helping a relative. I've had a quick catch-up of your news, Emz. I'm glad you had the chance to tick something major off your bucket list:T and are back safe and sound from your adventure.
I'm looking forward to reading about your success ticking off your next challenges. You'll do it, you always do:A
I must really get back onto money-making mode myself now I'm back as funds are extremely tight:o. It looks as if the car boot season started at Easter whilst I was away so I'm determined to have a big push to clear a lot of clutter, sell unwanted stuff and make some much-needed money this year. I missed most of today's lovely sunshine rummaging in the back of the sheds:eek:.
I'm green with envy about your Mac, Emz. Enjoy it:beer:0 -
Hi MT and CBC
(great to have you back CBC
)
Didn't realise it had been a week since I last posted. Been a bit crazy here over the weekend. OH has finally sold his car. It has been sat in the garage ever since we moved here (3 years ago) and he didn't really use it much before that. He has been intending to 'do it up' with the intention of selling it, but I've finally convinced him (after years of nagging) to sell it as it is. He was just losing money with it rusting away and it would have cost a bomb to get it up to scratch.
Anyway, he's sold it to someone in the trade who is going to do it up as a project with his son. He's got £4.5k for it and has also got a lot of spare parts he can sell on eBay, that he reckons will get around £1k. The guy is picking it up tomorrow night. Will be glad to see the back of it so we can actually start using our garage for junk!!
We're going to buy a new sofa with part of the money. It's up to OH really what he does with the rest. I've just asked him if we can put some of it aside for emergencies.
Anyway, I might have to start my £1,000 challenge again. I haven't been trying for the past week, and I want to see how long it realistically takes to earn £1k.
Be back later, got to drop OH off at the train station.

I'm getting so bad at posting on here
I'm officially half way to 70 now. Got £120 for my birthday, so will spend that wisely (badly need some new jeans). Also got 2 chinchillas (very cute, but I was going to wait until a couple of the degus had passed away - I've got 6 animals now!!) and some perfume.
I don't know why, but 35 feels way older than 34. It's odd, I feel like I should grow up and start acting more responsibly. Get more organised and stop procrastinating.
I'm still doing some overtime at work. I was due to have Bank Holiday Monday off, but have volunteered to work anyway as I get an extra £21, plus it saves my statutory holiday for when I need it. I'm at around £76 worth of extra money.
I've got my niece's birthday present sorted out early. My mum had a £10 off Lego voucher for Toys R Us, so I got her a set that was £32 for £22. Then I got her another £29 Lego set from Amazon using some vouchers I had on there (never got that suitcase before the cruise - just borrowed one from my mum).
We're due to renew our tenancy in July, and have just found out the rent is going up by £45. Not happy about it, but not a lot we can do. We were basically getting a good deal before. I think the landlady has checked on other properties and realised she could charge more.
Paid another lot off the CCJ debt. Below £8.5k now - it's coming down nicely :j
I've got a few things I want to achieve in May:- Get £50 worth of Amazon vouchers so I can pay my sister back for my mum's birthday present.
- Earn an extra £500 (was going to say £300, but might as well go for it. This won't include vouchers, only cash).
- Give my mum £100 towards OH's PS4 (got it for his 40th birthday last year, needs paying off at the end of August. Cost £350, so will aim to pay £100 in May, June and July and then £50 in August - trying to get organised with this so I don't have to rush to find £350 at the last minute).
- Be more house proud!! I'm not great at putting my clothes away (just tend to dump them on a chair), keeping up with the washing, keeping the kitchen tidy etc. I'll keep an eye on this during the month and keep mindful that I'm trying to be tidier!!
- Update on here every day - helps to keep me going with the goals.
