Busy couple of weeks. Wasn't sure whether to post about this on here or not - I suspect I might get judged slightly. I know I'm always saying we're skint, got debts to pay etc. This has all been our own doing recently.
Some of you might remember a while ago I said we had booked a cruise and paid the deposit. Well we have been chipping away at it and managed to get it paid off. Then we booked our flights and a couple of nights in a hotel. Hence why we have been skint recently.
I know I've got stuff to pay off etc etc, but I'm not getting any younger or healthier, and I don't want to look back when it's too late and wish that I had crossed more things off my bucket list.
So, we're flying out to New York 2 weeks today. Our cruise then sails on 3rd April and gets back on 10th April. We'll then be home on the 11th (my mum's birthday), early in the morning.
We're busy selling stuff on eBay at the moment to raise some spending money. The cruise is all inclusive, so we don't need that much. However, we've got a couple of nights in New York and then we're spending the day there after we get kicked off the ship. We're also going to book a couple of excursions.
We've raised £300 so far, and have got someone coming to buy something tonight for £100. Stuff on eBay should raise another £100-£200 before we go too.
I'm also in need of a suitcase. I could borrow one, but I'm trying to save up enough Amazon vouchers to get my own (don't think I've ever had my own suitcase!!).
In other news, another bucket list item will be crossed off next month. I'm getting an Apple MacBook through work. They basically supply it at a discounted rate and then take the money from your wages for the next 12 months. I've been lusting after one for years, so OH and I agreed that this was the perfect way to get one.
I'm going to put my bucket list on the first post, just to remind myself what's on there.

Thanks everyone
Sorry I haven't posted for ages. We were doing well with getting spending money up together, then we discovered that we've got to pay $300 each when we get on the ship - a bit like setting up a tab in case we spend any money on board (we're not going to!! We've got our food and drink paid for already and have even paid the service charge). We get back whatever we don't spend at the end of the trip. We've decided to pay cash, otherwise they could keep a hold on my debit card for up to a month .
Luckily the hotel have also said they would take cash for the $200 security deposit, so we'll get that back when we check out and can put that towards the $600 for the cruise.
Then we found out we needed travel insurance to get on the ship. I don't usually bother with it, as it doesn't cover me because of my illness. I did a quote and, just for fun, included my illness. The cheapest price I got back was.......wait for it........£2,474.03!!!!! How ridiculous is that??? So we just booked a £30 policy instead, just so they'll let us on the ship. Just haven't said about my illness.
Then we got a Three sim card for £20, because we could use it for no extra cost. Put it in mu phone this morning and discovered it doesn't work as my phone isn't unlocked (really thought it was). Contacted O2 and had to get a pay and go sim (I'm not with them, I'm with Giff Gaff), top it up with £15 and ask them to unlock my phone. Don't even know if it's going to work in time as they said it could take up to 72 hours, if it works at all.
Also had major problems getting hold of some medication. Been calling around trying to find some from pharmacies, but they were all out of stock. I take this medication when I eat, and can take up to 20 tablets a day - no tablets = no food. Luckily a small pharmacy near my mum had 300 delivered this morning, so I've grabbed them quickly. Comes to something when you have to fight to get a medication that basically keeps me alive!!
So yeah, quite stressed at the moment. Will need a holiday to get over the planning of this holiday.

It's lovely when problems get sorted out, it all must be a load off your mind to be all organised now apart from the phone situation. Good luck with that:beer:
I'd hate to put a dampener on things but I'd personally be very wary of not taking out insurance that fully covers my illness. My brother 'did' New England in the Fall and he said his insurance cost more than the cost of the whole holiday package:eek:. His GP warned him not to skimp on having specific and full cover especially as he was visiting USA.0
