Not done a lot today either - J is still in building mode and every flat surface has bits of plumbing items/nails/screws/tools on. I did vacuum the whole house earlier and I've also taken the decorations down with S's help - need to put them in the loft in a bit. Making chilli for dinner tonight so nice and easy. I'm looking forward to sitting down and knitting this evening; hopefully without dozing off like I did last night!!Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0

Popped into town this morning with DD & DS2. They spent some of their christmas money and their allowance. DD bought new trainers, a tee-shirt, a pair of skinny jeans, mouthwash and sweets. DS2 bought a jumper, a tee-shirt, 2 x deodorant, mouthwash and sweets:)
They get a decent allowance from me and are responsible for all their clothing, school/college expenses, uniforms, gifts, toiletries, haircuts, mobile phones and bus fares, etc. Pretty much the only thing I still pay for them is food:D This works really well, teaches them to budget, learn the value of money, and save for what they want. A win-win for me.
Have also been ditching stuff for the 2016 clutter challenge, 10 items banked so far in 2016:)
Got busy after my Iceland delivery arrived, with my vacuum packer. Ordered amongst other things, the cheese and bacon for the month, which has been split into smaller portions, vacuum sealed and put in the freezer.
Think I might have another cuppa now:)November NSD's - 70 -

I have emailed you mummyroys.
DGD1+2arrived at 9.00 am and have just left. We have had fun today. I have started teaching DGD1 to knit, and I made up the few rows we managed together into a little shoulder bag for her doll. DGD2 took a little knitted duck home for her dolly.
DS1 has put the bolt on our bathroom door which I have been meaning to do for a couple of years
I got the rest of the family history papers out of the loft (and while I was doing that, I showed DGD1+2 some pictures of their daddy when he was their age :rotfl:) and can get on with more sorting this evening.

WM on and ratties cleaned out.
Mrs MP - Das Boot is a fantastic but harrowing film; made me realise what it must have been like for my Grandfather and his crew mates
Didn't need the crocheting, you were right das boot was very watchable and I agree it did make you realise how difficult life was for the real crews during the war on both sides of the conflicts.:(

Can you point me in the direction of the thread on mse I think I have picked it up correctly from fb but want to check. I am not planning on doing it in any specific order just hoping to cross off the bigger amounts in the months where we have fewer birthdays.0 -

I read about an amazing money challenge yesterday that seems pretty simple. You save 1p on 1st Jan, 2p on 2nd Jan, 3p on 3rd Jan etc and by the end of the year you will have earned £667.95 over the year and the most you'd have to put in would be £3.65 a day! Plus it doesn't reach over the £1 a day limit until the 2nd week of AprilI blogged about it if you wanted a read and a link to the printable template;
http://thriftybutglam.blogspot.co.uk/2016/01/save-66795-in-year-1p-at-time.html
I've got my jar already filled with over £4 (it's a leap year so needed to start with £3.66 to use the template) DH is under very strict instructions not to touch any of the money, not even for car parking :rotfl:Fingers crossed it will pay for Christmas and give us a bit of a boost for next year!

Watching one of dhs Christmas DVDs this morning, dad boot but of a long one about a German submarine crew so I have my crocheting on standby. Printed out a label for the 2016 saving challenge that was mentioned in Nother thread, basically me the mins game you save 1p on 1st Jan, 2p on 2nd through to £3.66 on Dec 31st so by then you'll have saved about £668 but the most you save in a day is the final £3.66. Will get back into flying proper next week I've been off list over he hols.
I did this a couple of years ago but with pounds every week and not pence every day. Saved over £2000! We used it to pay off our car loan. It came about because I was trying to save money by cutting back on things and whenever we had a little bit left at the end of the month hubby would comment about how well we were doing and would spend it! So I decided to get cash back every time I did the weekly shop so if the shopping bill was £20 less one week, I would get that out as cash back and put it in my tin. It might sound a bit devious but hubby was pretty Impressed at the end f the year, especially when he realised it was to pay off the joint car loan and not to be used as my run away fund! Lol! If I did a car boot sale, or sold something I would also use that and would cross them off in any order so I wasn't having to find £200 one month and £10 in another. Anyway, I found a printable, similar to the one on the link and it really helped focus the mind.
Good luck with everyone giving it a go!Grocery challenge- feb 2015- £133.07/£2500 -

Sorry but you made me laugh. Reminds me of DS1 barricading himself in his bedroom by pulling his mattress off the bed and wedging it against the door because my brother and family were coming to stay. Will Mr LW be around? Find an excuse to shut yourself away somewhere with something to keep you busy if he is.
Had a nice chat on the phone with my big brother. He seems to have forgotten DS2s birthday but I couldnt bring myself to say anything. I think I should have spoken up.
Bed soon. Monday is creeping closer. I really really dont want to go back to work.0
