    Thanks for the responses folks.

Free I know what you mean about buying ingredients for just one meal,it does work out expensive.I have loads of spices and vinegars and shiz that I have only used once and then I keep them till the use by and throw them out! When I was single I was just the same, wanted a man for DIY only.I had a go at lots of stuff but sometimes I just wasnt strong enough.Mind you Mr V is worse at DIY than me but I do get him to move the furniture and lift heavy stuff!

Nic 2075,I do like the sound of salt n chilli chicken will have a search for it.I love the word dreich,so expressive.Thats the trouble with changing your habbits isnt it,I start off well then fizzle out.I have put loada weight on since my opp then Christmas and then no kitchen so we have eaten rubbish for a month.Good luck with it and I hope your family are ok as is possible.Found the recipe, got all that is needed, almost the same as salt n pepper chips.

Amsterdam was lovely. We paid £50 each per night for the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in.Really quite girly and luxurious. So worth the money. The weather was sunny and I completely overdid it by walking miles and miles,I am so unfit. My back was pain free,it does feel like a miracle.

We have a kitchen, not finished but functional. My cousin came to help me clean and stepson emptied all the boxes from the sittingroom.I began by washing everything and putting it in cupboards then gave up and got him to put about 10 banana boxes in my and Mr V's cars.Next weeks job is to find a home for it all.Charity shop for some of it,when have i ever used or will use brandy glasses?Floor being preped tomorrow.Builder on scaffolding fixing the chimney stack,a bit more plastering to be done then I can think about decorating.

I wonder if there have been any babies born yet?

    Laters Vx

We had a party last night,I was so stressed by having so little time to clean and prepare.Turned out well in the end.Over catered so will not need to cook for a few days.

Blimey- its quiet on here just lately!

Belated Birthday wishes Clumsy- hope it was a good one!

Mandco-Id love to see the finished word art cake if poss- its a fab idea.

Newthrift- how did the hash browns turn out? And well done you for not buying anything at whitestuff- very mse.

Vulpix- salt and pepper chips sound interesting. I admit to having tried SW version of KFC - it tasted Ok but was very dry to actually eat, you have to drink to wash it down (not booze btw!).

Nic- I love that responsible attitude you have towards your health and kids-its amazing that even our health is thought of in terms of the impact it will have on our kids in the future! I know its something that bothers my mom - that she relies heavily on me and D sis due to her health conditions, and when I was off my feet last year, I was concerned about the impact on my kids. Good on you for looking to a more healthy approach diet wise.

Free- problem with men is that they don't stay in the cupboard until they are needed do they?! They HAVE to make their presence known! My flaming idiot DH thought it was clever to haul boxes around at work on Friday (packing up the office ready for relocation) and so we spent the early hours of Sunday morning in A&E- a slipped disc! He'd been writhing around in man -like agony ( you know the sort- LOUD and often) so thought it best we go. Not how I like to spend 3 and half hours but it put his mind at rest that he wasn't going to suffer for ever! I shouldn't be so flippant cus I know its painful for him but he really is a big baby!

To all that asked- No DD windscreen still hasn't been done! They are supposed to ring back by 2 this afternoon with a definite answer. yeah right! DS seems to be doing OK.

Feisty- hope things are going well.

Baby Boo- hope you are on the mend now.

peppa- where are you? Hope all is well in your world x

Off to the hospital to collect DHs prescription at 9 cus the pharmacy wasn't open yesterday. You can bet your bottom dollar that I will have to wait ages and so have to pay parking (free for first 30 mins)!
    lovin' this site!

Thank you so much for your concern Free, BabyBoo and Murie. I've been reading but not posting. A couple of weeks ago I had what we thought was a routine colonoscopy and I ended up being diagnosed with bowel cancer. I don't know much more than that at the moment but I have a CT scan on Thursday, an MRI on Saturday and another more specialised colonoscopy next week. It's all a bit unreal at present. I really want to get the scans done to find out whether it's just the one tumour or if there are more but I only really want to know if the news us good. I wasn't going to post about it but I know you're a supportive lot and always so positive so I thought maybe I would. Thank you for the PMs too Free.

Then in the early hours of this morning we had to take our darling little dog to the emergency vet where she had to be put to sleep. I won't go into details but it was so horrible and very sad. Not the end I would have wanted for her at all. So after 11 years of her sometimes bonkers behaviour and over enthusiastic barking we're suddenly without her and missing her very much.

So sorry this is all doom and gloom - 2016 is not living up to our expectations so far!

Hope that everyone keeps safe and well during Storm Henry.

Murie Hope that DH gets better soon. Hope that the painkillers give him some relief.

I'm another one that keeps popping in hoping to hear some news from Feisty. :)

Sending you massive supporting hugs peppa, that must have been a shock BUT it has been caught early so treatment will hopefully be successful quickly.

Hugs to all that need one.

Wind is picking up here so stay safe all.

Peppapig Sorry to hear of your news. It is very difficult to know what to say. Thinking of you and the family at this time.

It is my daughters birthday on Chinese New Year, thought I would do a Chinese meal for the family next Sunday. It isn't food I normally make.Any help would be appreciated .Deffo will be making salt n pepper chips.

    Hope everyone is ok.Vx

I know its a bit of a cheat but Land of Ice are offering a Chinese banquet for 4 for £10! 3 x rice dishes, 4 x mains and 30 spring rolls! Sounds like a good deal!

Peppapig - I am so sorry to hear your news! Not sure what to say, anything I type sounds trite and cliched. Just to say we are all here with listening ears whenever you need them!

I'm glad to see the back of January! Its been a dismal month all in all :(

    Have a good evening everyone
