I received the Christmas tree badge a few years back because I bought some new Christian Louboutin shoes from a charity shop £27
This was the original thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4840239

I have been reading but a tad too poorly and tired to reply, but slowly adjusting and getting there. Waiting for a date from the builder as to when he can replace the guttering and then hopefully the walls will dry out so I can re-plaster. That should be the last big job here then it's just cleaning up and decorating, light at the end of the tunnel time.
So, on a Christmas gift front I think everything is bought or ordered on pre-release. I have the paper but just ordered some ribbon and will start wrapping soon and see how it all looks. Only DS and Teddy really, some token gifts but really looking forward to the season and traditions more than the commercial side of Christmas this year, I don't want to disappoint my family's illusion of me being a miserable old mare now do I :rotfl:

Pinksteps- plastering??!! Take it easy woman! Im trying to find the link for the recipe and will pm you when I have found it amongst all my bookmarks.

Decorating completely finished now (apart from re glossing the mantle). My new curtains are up and I am ridiculously excited for it to get dark in a bit so I can see how they look! (I know -small things etc etc...!)

I have been asked to review an advert for a new model of a certain German car brand which features a tyrannosaurus Rex - I LOVE IT!!!! Not the avert or the car (its main feature is one that I do not approve of- cant say thou) but I NEED one of those dinosaur suits!! I've seen them on various programmes and they are hilarious but this is the best acting I have ever seen in one.

Im off to write my letter to Father Christmas now.......

Hope everyone has had a good weekend x
    lovin' this site!

  • Thanks peppa, I'm really looking forward to the course but it will keep me busy.

Sammy, I only heard of Frank turner a couple of years ago when my kids started listening to him, ds1 does a lot of singing and covers a few ft songs (he's now writing his own stuff and has quite a following on YouTube) last album by ft was positve songs for negative people. Have to admit I'm hooked and have him playing in Spotify at least a couple of times a week. It's a sort of folk/punk style so I'm probably a bit older than his average fan base lol.

Bought a lovely m&s duvet cover at the boot this morning it's a really nice deer/snow scene picture. Can't wait till Dec when that will be going on my bed, also going to get my Christmas paperbacks sorted out as I've got quite a stash of them tucked away.

Also resumed cross stitch as I'm making a cushion for ds2 (funnily enough it has Frank turner lyrics on, from one of his fave songs)

Just had a Christmas pressie I ordered for my mum delivered this afternoon, from Amazon, it's an angel that you can fix on the cotprner of a doorframe, mum will love it as she's really into angels.

    quick xmas update
asda have xmas baking stuff in they had 4 make your own sets gingerbread house/cupcakes/xmas treee & stocking biscuits £2-£4 plus lots of sprinkes ect
They also had a selection of free from xmas items the advent calendar is pricey at nearly £5 but at least its a full size one as the last couple of years they have been really small compared to regular calendars.

ordered a set of these baskets to use for xmas hampers http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Search/searchTerm/476%252F6254.htm

matalan had a large area blocked off with a sign saying the xmas elves are working hard and xmas stock will be ready soon :D hoping they have some of the bits I want that are still oos online

    off to read back

Good. Patience is required though, as it can take a few weeks for them to respond to your PM and give you one.

If anyone buys bottles of spirits as Christmas presents, Tesco currently have the 750ml bottles for £14 or two for £20. There is a large selection available.

Apologies if you already know but Matalan's Online Christmas shop is open. So is John Lewis' and M&S but not fully by the looks of them. I had an enjoyable Sunday morning filling my baskets hee hee:santa2:

Ha ha that makes total sense! If i'd have looked i'm sure I would have figured that one out for myself! :rotfl:

Pinksteps sorry to hear you’re feeling poorly, I do hope you feel better soon. Well done on being finished! As usual I have got to this time of year and am nowhere near where I want to be! I hope the builder comes soon to do your guttering, I bet you're itching to get it all finished!

Morning. I have a wee day off today as we get a long September weekend :j

Has anyone ever bought a private car reg plate? My dad has always wanted one, and was thinking that and me my sisters could chip in and buy him one of xmas as he never knows what he wants. But dont have a clue how much they start at or how easy they are to get?

I have the start or a cold coming on. Had a irritated throat for days. Now my head is fuzzy. Feel hungover even though I didn't have a drink since my night out on Friday. And I wasnt that bad I don't think lol.

  • Morning everyone...only 13 more Mondays until Christmas :D
Had a nice relaxing weekend which is out of the norm for us so was lovely...although it does seem the weather has finally turned, which I can't say I'm unhappy about - bring on the blankets and onesies!
Moneymission I'm not keen on Jamie Oliver either, although BishyBarney I'm the same, I don't even like watching his show but the recipes are good :o
Peppa, I need a Christmas planner - I've got a spreadsheet but I can't take it with me everywhere! Hope you had a nice family day yesterday
Feisty the chutney looks great! I have to admit I didn't know there was a difference in pumpkins whether they are carvers or eaters...mainly because I don't like pumpkin so the contents always get chucked
Vulpix, I'm jealous of the people who have wrapped presents already too, but it's not like you're not busy enough with the garden at the mo!
Murie, I do like the sound of kitten crafting - made me smile :) I'm curious to see how your kitten gets on with wrapping paper and the Christmas tree lol hope you're feeling better
Cherry, I hated that feeling of limbo before we moved in, hopefully you'll get a final date asap. I'm glad to hear you had Lasek and it went well, makes me feel a bit better. I'm the same with grandparents now...it's biscuits or liquorice - tbf I do get them other things but their response is always really underwhelming!
Snorky, I've had Christmas tea towels for years - welcome to the cool club  lol
Free I'd unwrap it (but carefully so you can easily rewrap
Short-n-sweet welcome :j sorry not a clue about the Christmas cake...I know they'll be a few who can advise on here though
Gettingtherequickly - that's sad about the funeral :( horrible when things get in the middle of families
Sammy - made me laugh about you hearing colours :rotfl: hope you're on the mend...I also have an extra set from hoarders in the second bedroom at the minute, but I did clear out the cupboard under the stairs yesterday :T go me lol
Actually can someone please resend the link to the website that helps you organise your home for winter...I think if I have an actual list I might be more likely to do it!
Nothing too Christmassy going on, had my M&S Christmas shopping in my online basket and been waiting for a 20% off code which I've just found SEPT16A27 so I'm off to order it now :)
    I'm dreaming... of a white Christmas :snow_grin :xmassmile:rudolf:
