Had a strange day - the dog was imitating a jelly during the storm at 4am and i spent 3 hrs just trying to calm him down, while everyone else slept through it.
Then i went to post a faulty camera battery back to Amazon [following their instructions] but as its a battery on its own its apparently classed as an explosive so cant be sent ! Amazon now have DPD collecting it Thursday.
We went out for a meal for hubbys birthday but the portions were huge i was so stuffed i couldnt manage dessert next time i won't have a starter need room for ice cream !Anyone in the South Yorkshire area i can thoroughly recommend whitbys at Catcliffe. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. CHRISSY can you have flu jabs this early then? Now i get it free because of my diabetes i will have one but didnt think i could have it done until october
I am diabetic too i get mine done at the chemist where i get my meds from. Hubby and myself are free but i pay for DD to have hers as she doesnt qualify. My GP has a clinic sometime in October but its on a Saturday so i cant go , i find the chemist much more convenient. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Lazysheep, well they do say the devil makes work for idle hands don't they. Trouble is I think I'd have a job to fit it in if he tried to twmpt me into mischief.:rotfl:
I've managed to pull a treat in for most of the family by using dd1 and ds2s birthdays as the perfect excuse to take them the Frank turner concert when he tours later in the year, so with Dh driving and saying I'll get ds2 + his gf tickets as part of their Christmas presents and it would just be rude not to join them - that's my story and I'm sticking to it, I do love a good FT song.:TSPC~12 ot 124

Afternoon all
Hope eveyone is well.
Thanks Free - I know timazipan is wonder stuff if you want to be knocked out but I wont touch it again - Night Nurse does the same to my husband - Im not going to lie I have been tempted to slip him a dose on days where he is talking incessantly about bloody farm simulator the PC game and all ive heard about is tractors and field sowing attachments :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Well I blitzed the kitchen yesterday so downstairs in my house is now guest friendly - however my bedroom looks like an extra set from hoarders so that needs to be done next I think.
My lurgy is hanging on still. Not ideal and whats worse is I may have given it to my 4 year old nephew so I am flavour of the month with his mother (SIL) at the minute :eek::eek:
FEISTY - the chutney looks lovely. Let us know how it tastes. I have only made jam once - a bramble and lemon jam which went down well. Really need to make some more.
VULPIX - oh no! Poor puss....glad you have 'rehomed' it elsewhere though.
PEPPA - completely forgot about the snow challenge - must get a move on with that!
SNORKY - welcome to the dark side........christmas towels is only the beginning.........
Right am off now to do some training thing I forgot to do in work today - have another 3 days in work before my day off......so much for being on a 6hr contract!Time to find me again0 -
Hey Everyone! I am new to this thread, I have Just spotted it.
How Fantastic. I started my Christmas shopping last week after seeing my local Wilko reducing perfumes to £1.50 each. Great for the Teen Girls in the Family! Also picked up a sainsburys delivery today of some bits I got online in the sale with a gift card I won.Staring my Christmas box.
I would LOVE to make my own Christmas cake this year though does anyone know when is the best time to make them. Should it be soon? I vaguely remember a family friend making them months in advance and would "feed it". Any advice would be great and hope it's OK to hang out in this thread!Ask.. Believe.. Receive..

From what I can recall, I just wanted to say to Free not to be so hard on yourself!
OMO wonderful to 'see' you!
Peppa, that is great about the chemo!
Sorry for anyone I've missed, blooming technology eh?
Well the log cabin arrived this morning, it is like an ikea flatpack from hell! I am very glad I will not be too involved with putting it together
I'm feeling a bit more prepared for the big day gift wise (and a wee bit festive too!) as I spent the day making chutney and making a start on strawberry jam! I've never made a chutney before, but it looks pretty good
It is spicy apple (free from the in-laws garden!) and tomato. It was pretty simple and I'm hoping to give the 3 smaller pots away in some hampers for xmas. I really need to place my studio order too as I have a £10 off a £30 spend, but it runs out the end of this month! I hate the bloody website though as everything is always showing as out of stock
I also picked up a set of 6 milk bottle and straws from the range which I am hoping to make into Santa's milk ready for a tradition with my little lady.
On a none festive note (but winter related) we have heard there is a localish pumpkin PYO farm and we've decided that our Halloween tradition will be to go and pick someI'm hoping they are eaters and not just carvers as I really hate the idea of chucking all that pumpkin goodness out!
Does anyone know how long a pumpkin will last once it's been picked? Apparently they get picked out pretty quickly, so I can't leave it too close to Halloween.
Feisty, I'm in the middle of having a log cabin built in my garden (in which to write the book I've always said I would, lol).
I envy you getting it done in one go as mine has only been done at weekends, along with some other garden work, and has dragged on all summer. Hoping the rain holds off tomorrow as the roof is due to go on. I too funded it with an interest free card and it should take about nine months to pay off unless I'm very good and try to pay it quicker as I hate any form of debt.
Just beginning to think about Christmas as I've been so busy. Well, I say that, I put all the presents I have bought so far for my 5 grandchildren, into the loft today so that's where they will stay for 3 months. I'm not sure who is "doing" Christmas this year, it's usually me but it may be my son and his wife if they manage to move house before Christmas.
I am starting to think about making my Delia Christmas pudding, maybe in a couple of weeks time as I have my 65th birthday soon and we are going away for a little break.
Much as I have enjoyed the heatwave we have had here over the past few days, I am also looking forward to getting down to making the house cosy for autumn and winter and, of course, Christmas. I figure that I won't have to buy much as I have all I need from previous years, thankfully.
I'm looking forward to coming on here again this year for inspiration from all you lovely people.0 -
Thinking about my Christmas pudding, I am usually keen to buy the best ingredients but am thinking of economising a bit, if it is the right thing to do. We have an Aldi close to us and an Asda round the corner. Is it worth me going to Waitrose to buy currants, raisins etc. or do you think the fruit would be just as good from these two supermarkets. We buy lots of other stuff from them but haven't tried their dried fruit yet.0

Welcome SHORTNSWEET, you've found a great place here. Welcome back WHITESATIN, nice to see you again, I'd love a log cabin or a little vintage caravan or just a nice little summerhouse.
Well done on the inspection front FREE. Hope you get lots of cuddles with Thumper, he must be getting quite big now the time goes so quickly. Looking forward to seeing your snow challenge.
FREE/CHRISSEY my sisters dog is the same with storms and fireworks. Fortunately we just had heavy rain but no storms. At least I made a good call not worrying about watering the plants lol.
FEISTY well done on the chutney, I am in awe of all you people who make such things.
MURIE that Bailey is such a scamp. Good luck with the remake of the snow challenge. DH just needs to cut me a circle of wood and find the glue gun and I can get on with putting mine together! It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0
