  • They've got the milk bottles really cheap at Poundstretcher http://www.poundstretcher.co.uk/home-furniture/kitchen-dining?dir=asc&order=price at the moment which should(!) fit the Poundland crates.

I got 3 of the Mason jars which have lids and straws for my nephews, will fill with a mixture of sweets for them, they were only 59p each but are too big for the crates.

    Hi everyone,

Hope you are well. I'm now on my second festive book this year, 'Christmas Cracker' by Trisha Ashley which is getting me in the Christmas mood. Also, finished making the lego trays for my nephews. Now just have to resist buying any presents until I've moved house.

Murie: Thanks for the heads up regarding the crates and Argos deals.
TreasureQueen: Good job on getting some intel regarding Boots
    :)
Ellie: I had laser eye surgery four years ago and it's the best thing I've ever done.
Peppa Pleased to hear chemo went ahead successfully :)

I'm just reading that and really enjoying it

ELLIE well done on booking your laser treatment, I've never had it but I had a friend who did and she said the results were amazing. It must be scary waiting for it but just focus on the end result.

TREASUREQUEEN isn't it exciting when the shop shelves start to look festive. I notice on Martin's email he said something about 'we hate decs before December as much as you do' well I don't, the earlier the better for me lol. Please don't speak for everyone Martin!!

MURIE my DD picked me up a couple of those crates the other day, they're great aren't they. Well done on the vintage Buzz, was he an ex when you posted about it before? Yep it's hard to imagine isn't it but I really am a grumpy madam on occasions. It's strange because people always seem to say that serious illness makes you stop stressing about the small stuff - nope, not for me, I stress about it even more now and I stressed enough before lol.

CHERRY I bought six Christmas novels this morning - can't wait for them to arrive!

SAMMY I'm glad you're feeling better. Hope the weekend working is just this week - seems a bit unfair if they're still expecting weekend working when you've explained your child are issues. No I don't have injections, my chemo is about 3 to 4 hours at the hospital then I get sent home connected to a pump that delivers more chemo for 48 hours then I go back to have it taken off. I have a PICC line in which goes into just above my elbow and goes as far as the other side of my heart and all my drugs are given through this and bloods taken from it. It's much better than having to keep having needles put in!

Well, I spent lots of money this morning and I didn't even leave the house lol. All pressies though except for six Christmas novels for me (6 for £10 from The Works online) even though I have got a kindle. I thought when I've read each one we could circulate it like we did the other year. Can't remember what I ordered now but I'll look it up later.
Had a lovely afternoon sitting in DD's garden watching the littlies now just need to water the pots in the front garden and chill in front of the tv. Batter night on Bake Off, yay!
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

Vulpix- you must be shattered! Did you have any bad weather on Tuesday- what we had would have washed your stone wall clear away.

Sammy- hope work over the weekend is just a one off and not going to be the norm.

Carliselass- I mislay presents all the time then turn the house upside down looking for them.

Peppa -you and me both about stress over anything and everything! Long story short about DDs ex BF is that he has lived with us for the last 3 years when he is not at Uni and whilst he has family up north he isn't in touch with any of them- essentially he has become our DS2. That really has been the reason they have broken up as I think he has become more of a son/brother/nephew/grandson than he is a boyfriend if you see what I mean. They are on relatively good terms and are both happy for him to remain a family member living with us when not at Uni (obviously sleeping arrangements have changed). He has gone back down to his Uni digs early to allow things to calm down. So I will still be buying him presents as normal until and if they tell me the situation has changed. He had a Woody doll that he managed to take with him when he was removed from his family and he has taken it to various homes and now to uni. He asked for a Buzz cus he had never had yet always wanted one. This has all happened very recently which Is why I haven't been posting much as, as I have been feeling very low with it all going on. However- Im back now!!

I too made a Works order this morning and am looking forward to getting that.
    lovin' this site!

Aww Murie, the poor lad.Hats off to you for being a surrogate Mum,he is a lucky lad.

We had a cracker of an electrical storm on Tuesday afternoon, the electric was off for a bit.Was glad of the rest.

Glad of the rest this morning too as we have to go for tiles.I feel like I should be making the most of the weather so will be back on it when we get back. When it is done I will have to spring clean. Not done much by the way of cleaning for weeks!

DD1's BF Grandmas funeral today. So sad.Grandad died exactly 3 weeks ago and she just gave up.They were lucky, they both still lived at home and had been married 70 years.

  • Good morning :D
Was happy to see Christmas mentioned in the MSE email this week but it said 100 days until Christmas which is wrong - it's 100 days from tomorrow so 14 weeks on Sunday
Thanks for the reassurance :) I'm not going to lie I'm really nervous, especially as the surgeon is unsure if some corneal scarring on my left eye will prevent me being able to have LASIK, but he won't know until the laser is trying to do it...so he may have to do LASEK which is a whole different ball game in terms of recovery and time off of work. So fingers crossed!
Murie, glad you got the buzz! I'd been keeping an eye out for you
Cherry I've never read a festive book so I may get that one for my kindle this year. Do you know your moving date yet?
Sammy, good luck on the job hunt. I did like the story about the mirror under the nose! :rotfl: also, no offense but your mum's taste in sweets has something to be desired! lol
Peppa, I know how you feel I've spent far too much online recently...it's a good job I haven't had a weekend away, got to pay out for my car, and fork out for laser eye surgery  did you hear about GBBO moving to channel 4? I'm not impressed but I'll probably still watch it!
Vulpix, happy gardening! Surely you're nearly done after this non-stop hard work? It's terribly sad about the DD's BF's grandparents (I think that was right!), although it's very poetic that she couldn't live without him :o
Hopefully the car will be fixed by the end of today - it's been almost 2 months out of use! Although I'll probably put on a few pounds now I won't be doing so much walking. Oh well, need a bit of extra meat on our bones to keep us warm during winter right? lol
    I'm dreaming... of a white Christmas :snow_grin :xmassmile:rudolf:
  • Good morning.
I am still here. Just :o

The move went well. Obviously Christmas is now being pared right down as we have no room for anything large.

DD is off to uni in the 2nd Oct, which is keeping us all busy. :D
    DS is just DS :rotfl:
Am I've taken on promotion at work which means working 3 hours more a day as I have to in by 7.30 - 9 in the morning and 5.30 - 7 in the evening. That's on top of my working there during the day. But if it gets the money to buy my decking quicker I can cope.

Has anyone else grabbed the 'must have' beer crates from Poundland ?
I got 6 to make a shoe rack, one for a uni badket for DD's best friend, one for a Christmas hamper and one for beer for my Dad. ? He informed they should be used for their intended purpose ! :rotfl:
  • Own my own I am glad that the move went well for you. I haven't been to pound land yet but I want to get a couple of the crates for condiment hampers I am making for my aunt and uncle. They are good that they can be reused after the hamper goods have been used up. Can be used for extra storage in cupboards or in the garage for example.
