OMO it's you who bought all the crates!!!!!!!!!!! none left for me today.Never mind, didn't actually need them.

Chrissy,ah flu jab time again.Must get on it ,thanks for reminding me.

Fiesty, just the same tiles as i bought today.Yummy home made chutney.I think pumpkins last ages.I always used to make pumpkin soup with Y2's at school after reading the story of the same name.

Jamie Olivers allright you know.I won a cookery competition with my Y2's and we went to London to be presented with our prize by him.He was charming.Don't know about him doing Bakeoff though.

The weather here is supposed to hold for a few more days.I have dug up more massive lumps of concrete today and levelled the ground a bit.I am afraid that I dug up someones departed cat.I reburried him elsewhere.I will be glad when this garden is done,I am tired now.

Bought DD1's boyfriend some beer today on offer to go with birthday and Christmas.

Just Mr V now to buy for.Bloomin birthday and Christmas.I have no clue.I was looking for something yesterday in his box of stuff that does not have a home and found an unopened wind up torch from last Christmas. He doesnt smoke/drink/read etc.I have no clue.

I am in awe that you are wrapping all ready. That is organised.

    Vx

Good to see you OMO and Feisty, glad the move went well OMO and I have no idea about pumkins Feisty (I confess I don't like the taste!). That chutney looks/sounds tasty! Has Little Miss settled down more now?

    Mrs Moneypenny- how is MIL?

Vulpix- erm bet that was a 'nice' surprise finding cat remains?! I am the same with DH, his birthday is in November which I more or less have sorted but no idea about Christmas at all! He has the same non habits that you DH has too and is diabetic to boot so food gifts have to be chosen carefully too lol. Would it be possible to hire a mini Kubota for a few days to get the garden heavy work finished? It would make life easier.

Free- hope DD1 and DS have a fab holiday x

I don't really care for Jamie Oliver either although DS has loads of his books and has asked Mom for the one that he will inevitably release in time for Christmas.

I think today will be a quiet day for me as I don't feel 100% I may re do my snow craft challenge as the one I had completed has been kitten crafted (ie nearly destroyed by razors as he is teething and I stupidly left it on the work top to dry over night and he 'found' it!).

Hope everyone has a good day, hugs to those that feel under the weather and happy Christmassy vibes to everyone else xx
    lovin' this site!
    :j
  • Mil is soldiering on thanks Murie, she's 89 next week. For all her health problems and increasing frailty she does amazingly well- I joke with her she'll outlive me.
With her shopping and cleaning and my painting and kondoing I've been kept busy. Now I'm being signed up on a course at work to finally get a teaching assistants qualification. It means I'll be volunteering for an extra two days a week so along with my paid hours it will keep me busy.
We've finished the bedroom decorating and got the carpet laid so we're in the process of putting the room back together, then I've got the landing to gloss before the carpet can go down in there and the stairs. Hopefully by Christmas it will all be done.

Sorry to hear the kitten got at your snow challenge, is it salvageable or have you got to start from scratch? (Sorry no pun intended)

I hope everyone is as well as can be.
Peppa I hope your treatments are going ok and not too draining phsycally or emotionally.

Better get on I'm trying to sort stuff for the Cs run tomorrow, so far I have 4 bags full.

  • ellie - We haven't got a moving date yet. Should hopefully know by next week or week after. I chose LASEK over LASIK. It took me about a week to recover and I remember wearing sunglasses to a bonfire event whilst also wearing a wooly hat and mittens :) It only took 20 mins for the procedure and it really wasn't too bad. My OH just did everything for me that week :)

Vulpix - I have lots of birthdays and Christmas' together too. I've started buying Gift Experiences for people when I don't know what to get them. This is mainly for people who I know for a fact just shove gifts at the back of a cupboard never to be seen again. Also, in those cases, I think it's nice for them to have memories rather than a physical object that they won't use.

Ownmyown - Glad move went well, I know how stressful it can be.

Carolbee - I'm about half way through the book and I really like it too.

Regarding GBBO, I would have liked to have seen the Hairy Bikers present it if anyone. I really don't think Jamie Oliver is a good fit for the show.

Yes i could see Hairy Bikers do Bakeoff, good idea. They get on my nerves though,I find them childish.

Husband could have the experience of no gifts this year!Trouble is he's got it all/done it all.If he needs it he just buys it! More socks?

Murie, the hard graft is done now really.I will build a raised bed today now i have dug out concrete and levelled the ground. So close to fiishing the building work now.

I usually ask for the same things every year, socks, candles, nice shower gels (the expensive ones that I wouldn't buy normally). They may seem boring to everyone else but I always use them and it's something that I never have to buy myself because I always get them on special occasions. Maybe in your case, socks and other similar items that he wouldn't go out and buy but does use is the answer.

I got to the point with grandparents where I just bought them biscuits. They didn't want anything else and always ate them.

CLUMSY I hope your ahem, problem is soon sorted out.

    ....

Come back SNORKY you can't leave now, LAZYSHEEP is right lol.

All fine here, my Cath Kidston Christmas planner arrived yesterday so that was very exciting. I really must get on with my SNOW CHALLENGE, I think I know what I'm going to do but I need to stop thinking and start doing. I'm determined that I won't finish late this month! It's my DH's birthday on Sunday so DD2 and DGD are coming to meet us and my mum for lunch then we'll all go round to DD1 to see the DGSs so should be a nice family day. SDD is coming tomorrow too so it's quite a family focussed weekend.

:) Thanks for the warm welcome :)

I told my OH about the Christmas tea towels last night - he was not impressed! He thought I was being a bit mental, frankly.
  • vulpix - I am in awe! If you get bored once your garden is finished I have one that needs some love :rotfl:

Mrs M - is that busy and out of trouble? :p

Feisty - not sure on the pumpkin, I've never been and picked one (or even carved one tbh) but I would think that they would last a little while as long as they weren't carved and kept cool and dry?

snorky - it's all right you will be accepted here for christmas tea towel purchases here, we don't judge :j

Cherry - I do something similar for my hampers. My mum can buy whatever she wants but I know she wouldn't buy the 'nicer' versions so it's like going up a brand rather than down. But I do try and buy on offer and hate paying full price so I don't mind!

I think part of the appeal of GBBO is that you know the experts are really experts - Mary Berry is an institution and has been around for ages so you trust that she knows what she is talking about. Not sure I would feel the same about Jamie or the bikers tbh.

On the local radio this morning they were going to play a christmas song if enough people requested it as it's 100 days away. Last year they played one (although at 99 days because they forgot!) and 'got in trouble' for doing it so they wanted listener support. Unfortunately I was already at work and out of the car before I heard whether they were going to do it so will just have to make up for it later and listen to one at home!

Got quite a few ideas rattling around in my head and picking up bits and pieces as I see them but I was slightly excited last week when my MrT had converted half the seasonal aisle into Christmas..
  • Afternoon everyone, well the kids are halfway to Jordan now, i have been busy running round with DD1 getting stuff to last until they come back and last minute bits for her, DS as usual left everything until the last minute!! Well you all know i hate workmen in the house well the electrical inspection was booked for 1 pm and DD1 and i were going to just tidy the last bits and pieces after having a shower well no the door went at 9am and there is the workman asking if he could do it as he had a cancellation, im in my pjs, hair needing washing, washing up everywhere in kitchen, not hoovered, my stuff of nightmares haha. Anyway all done for another 10 years. I have all i need to complete this months christmas craft now so that will keep me busy for a bit this week, i have crafts, my kindle, baking, magazines so it will be like my holiday off from the kids :rotfl:

CHRISSY can you have flu jabs this early then? Now i get it free because of my diabetes i will have one but didnt think i could have it done until october

PEPPAPIG yayy to number 8 out of the way, theres light at the end of the tunnel my lovely. Hope you have a lovely family weekend, my Thumper is coming over tomorrow, i am desperate for a cuddle it seems ages since ive seen him

ELLIEW8 good luck with the laser eye surgery

MURIE well done on finding a buzz lightyear i bet you are well chuffed, that is lovely that he will be with you at christmas. Oh dear that naughty puddy cat :rotfl:i hope you can get your christmas craft sorted

CHERRY ooh A Christmas Cracker is on my list to be read too, my kids do experiences for each other now instead of stuff!! They climbed the O2 on wednesday and loved it

SAMMY_KAYE im not surprised you slept so long on timazipan :D i hope you get your weekend working sorted

VULPIX oh that is so sad, you do hear of people who just give up after losing their loved ones, im glad you are beginning to see the end of the concrete digging

OMO glad the move went well, nice to see you :)

CLUMSY i hope you get your health problem sorted out quickly

FEISTY thankyou my lovely, ooh the chutney looks fab, i made a green tomato chutney once it was lush. That sounds a fab tradition of going to the pumpkin farm, i think you can get them quite early and keep them in a cool place but not sure
