Actually can someone please resend the link to the website that helps you organise your home for winter...I think if I have an actual list I might be more likely to do it!

I think you're meaning organised home? Linky here

Also regarding the planner - I use a spreadsheet to record costs etc and list what I have which I have added to dropbox so that I can at least see what I already have when out and about. Although you can't edit the sheet on dropbox, I use a note taking app to write down ideas/prices paid etc which I can then update on my spreadsheet when I get home.

I'm much more likely to have my phone with me than to remember to take a separate notebook/planner out!
  • Feeling a bit bleugh today. Deaf as a post in my right ear, only wax, but I hate having to put drops in. I have had this since I was a child so have always been aware when it could be a problem, but it has been so long since last bout, I didn't notice it becoming a problem  Hope the drops work quickly.

I also think that my peripheral neuropathy has cropped up also. The inside of my upper left arm is very sensitive, there is nothing obvious and it is not an issue on my other arm. Will have to do some neck exercises for a few days to see if the nerve can be freed, if not will have to either go to see GP or physio.

Didn't do much Christmas wise, but am keeping on top of wrapping.
A smile costs little but creates much :)
  • Eek, I accidentally went AWOL for a few weeks, apologies! I've read back as far as I could but am nowhere near my last post so am giving up gracefully!

I'm already feeling pretty festive - I have a very tiny stash of presents forming under my bed already. Need to come up with some 'main present' ideas, but there's plenty of time yet.

My most pressing concern currently is my driving test in a couple of weeks! I'm freaking out a bit because I'm really not a natural driver. I don't enjoy it and I just don't 'think like a driver' if you know what I mean. I really want to stop taking lessons now though so I can stop spending time and money on it. Any tips from any other not-so-natural drivers?

Also is anyone else finding themselves getting impatient waiting for the festive things to hit the shops now? Spotted a few Christmassy food bits in the Co-op yesterday and my heart skipped a beat!

Hi, all. I made a decision today (not an easy one for me, the Christmas fanatic). Every year I buy so much stuff, bedding, throws, candles, ornaments, you name it. Always in the sales after Christmas of course or at a Christmas market. This year I am going to try and make do with what I have and not spend any more than I need to. I already have plenty of cards, gift wrap etc.

It will be so difficult though as I am going to a few Christmas markets and I'm always so tempted but I will be strong, I think.

Snap White satin.I intend to make do with the trees and decorations I have.Trouble is the porch would look cute with a tree except I have every size and colour tree apart from the one needed for the space.I have also seen the nicest Christmas train too!!!!!!!!!!! I have cards and wrap enough for years.Wrap lasts so much longer now that the children are older and their gifts are smaller!

All I have done today is make something from pinterest which I enjoyed but don't know what to do with.Craft stall? And wrap DD2's birthday pressies.A big bang theory mug, book and some earrings plus cash.It was cold this afternoon so we had the log burner on,heige.

The tiler has started.Makes such a difference to the kitchen.I was used to not having any tiles.

XXX for people feeling under the weather.

    Vx

Oh you can look online at private number plates. Some are very reasonable others are not.

I've emerged from Pinterest for now haha! Still not fully sure what to get some people, had a word with MIL for ideas for SIL and I think I know what I'm getting so that's a start.
We celebrated our first wedding anniversary last Monday, can't get my head round where that first year went.
I've been reading back but still not caught up much. Was going to read a bit further but I've got a lovely headache arriving :( so I'm going to reside to bed. (Can't believe we are in double figures for Christmas countdown).
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Thanks Vulpix, I eneded up sitting for ages this afternoon looking at them all. Not sure he would like any of the ones we could afford. It was just an idea.

Whitesatin , I say the same every year.so have limited myself to buy one small decoration for the tree, one to hang or sit and to make something. Last year I made cushion covers with some xmas material I had in a drawer for 4 years. The stuff in the Range is too pretty not to buy a wee thing :p

I'm off to bed to look through Pinterest.

  • Vulpix, I must admit that I have been obsessed with Jamie Oliver since I was a wee girl. My family took great delight in teasing me when he married Jules as I was really cross about it lol.
Oh dear, poor Cat :( I think this is why I wouldn't bury one of my furries in the garden as I'd worry about if we moved.

Murie - Little My (or little monster as she is now known!) is generally pretty good during the day, but nighttime is a different matter. It's almost 8 months of being woken on average 6 times a night, I am beginning to struggle with the lack of sleep.

MrsMoneypenny, great news about becoming a TA!

Cherry I'm with you, I love some pamper bath bombs from lush as it's an extravagane we can no-longer stretch to!

Snorkypants, I paid a small fortune for some Christmas tea towels 2 years ago on eBay, imagine my dismay when I went to primark and found exactly the same for a fraction of the price! Definitely worth checking in some of the cheapy stores like B&M etc for these.

Free, that sounds very stressful BUT at least you didn't spend ages stewing on it lovely.

Sammy I'm sorry you're still feeling poorly! I work with Dentists and my favourite is a trained doctor who worked in A&E previously. He said that honey, lemon and paracetamol has been proven to be more effective than these over the counter cold and flu rememdies.

Welcome Short-n-Sweet, a few of the ladies have already started making theirs and in the past I've fed mine once a week. I know a much more knowledgable person will be along shortly :)

WhiteSatin, oooo I'd love to see some pictures! It's very exciting, but rain has now stopped play our end :( ALL of my baking ingredients are from Aldi and I can honestly say that I have noticed no difference then when I've bought higher end from waitrose etc

GTQ that is so sad :( I have no problem with faith of any kind, but I agree that his father should have come first for his final goodbyes

Princess that is great news about your holiday :) Poor wiggle :( I hope he's feeling better now?
Oh no about the house! That is really bad! Thank goodness they've moved it x

Nic that food processor bargain sounds amazing! I am very jealous lol

Treasurequeen, Christmas in your new house, how exciting!

    Murie, pictures please :)

Oh nic, sorry you're feeling poorly too! Lots of vitamin C and hopefully it won't fulley erupt!

Kaya good luck for your test!

Well not too much to report Christmas wise here BUT I did lose the jam in a burnt mess :( I stupidly nipped to the loo only for DH to start shouting it was burning but he had little My in his arms and so couldn't do anything about it. I'm more annoyed that the £5 spent on sugar, strawberries and lemon was wasted!

Free I've started bullet journaling (kind of). I'm using my filofax and kind of making my own lists and symbols up. I'm back to work in a matter of days and need to be organised!

I'm also adamant I will have a hobby for me that isn't about making money (I'm fondly known as Del Boy by some of the family) so the sewing machine is out. I'm a complete beginner at sewing, although have used a machine on and off for years, however I watched an introduction to sewing video on youtube and learnt so much! Little My is going to have some very cute clothing :)

Sorry I have been absent I hope you will forgive me when you find out why......

    I HAVE A JOB!!!!!

I have not worked in nearly 7 years. When my daughter was 3 and had started school nursery it was always my plan to get back into working with children but then my spinal problems arose. 3 years 2 spinal operations and a car accident later I am starting work today!!

Its a midday supervisor at my daughters school. I am SO excited! I have been filling paperwork in, looking for certificates and generally preparing myself.
Will try and catch up properly tonight with a nice cup of tea. Just wanted to let you all know im still here :)
  • Morning all :)
I think the summer is well and truly over now...we've had miserable weather since Friday and so I'm quite happy autumn is on its way! Shame my hayfever hasn't ended for the year, I've sneezed about 20 times today already...a nice man on the train said bless you the first 2 times but gave up after 4 in a row :rotfl:
Lazysheep thank you for the link, I don't have any excuse now. I'll still keep my spreadsheet but I do like a list so I may get a Christmas planner too :o
Gettingtherequickly hope you feel better - seems like everyone is coming down with something at the mo
Kaya good luck on the driving test, the only advice I'd give is to just breathe - sounds simply but I used to get quite nervous about other drivers. I'm really impatient too! Everyone has mentioned Matalan will be imminent so I'm holding off going shopping until at least one shop is Christmas stocked
Whitesatin you are far more disciplined than me, I get far too carried away buying Christmas things - I agree with Nic, if you're going to a Christmas market you could always get a small bauble ;)
Vulpix you sound like you might struggle if you've already got your heart set on things lol I've already spotted a new tree for the landing - they'll be one in every room in a few years!
Newthrift, congratulations on your first anniversary :T
Feisty have fun with the sewing :)
    I'm dreaming... of a white Christmas :snow_grin :xmassmile:rudolf:
