    linux is supposed to be very good. hmmm friend's pc tower needs updating from xp. it is way too slow and she struggles to do anything with it... how would one go about changing to linux? might be good for her.

    still looking for the drivers for my printer .... :(
    If you 'Google' How do I change from windows XP to Linux, there are loads of sites. The first one (Linux) actually says that you can download Linux for free to a pen or DVD and then try it - or if you have enough room then download direct next to XP and give it a try.

    There's always the techie thread on here, don't forget, and they are always keen to help with a genuine problem. Probably help with your drivers as well :D

    Good luck Lx

    yes just had a look at the linux stuff. think I need specs of friend's pc first, as very slow loading and doing anything. then will ask techie thread, as they may suggest not doing it on current tower

    I can't, I tried many times when I first installed it. my laptop would not take me back, even though it was supposed to.
    Have you tried windows help - or windows community ? Again the techie people might help.

    Soo sorry you seem to have so many techie problems - wish I was more knowledgeable and could help you myself

    think have worked out issue, I used a refilled ink cartridge. it is running low on ink now, and the printer is recognising it is low and won't print. but will try to make it work a bit longer until can get some refills.

    Thanks for the idea Aesop - I've got an old tower I bought for the kids some years ago which the ex's new botfriend managed to prevent from working for years even tho' I kept having it "repaired" - At last plug in it worked ok - so I think that may be the one to experiment with over here ! :cool:

    Did you try looking for the windows 8 drivers - like wot I did ? and just plonking them onto win 10 ? - Worked for me ;)

    Sorry about anyone's tech issues at the moment. Doesn't it just make you want to tear your hair out? Had that feeling many times myself:eek:

    I'm not encountering any Win 10 probs myself as, like Lynne, I'm still running Win 7 and only upgraded to that when they stopped XP support. In my view, if it ain't broke don't fix it. I do like Win 7 better than the old XP though. The best I ever used was Win 2000NT which was totally problem-free at a time when '98 and Millennium or whatever it was called were nightmares. I keep getting the pop ups telling me to upgrade to Win 10 and I opened the link just for an exploratory look only to be told my laptop is not compatible:rotfl:. It isn't even compatible with Win8 so I'm hardly surprised but I was just curious to see what all the fuss about this latest re-incarnation is all about;). When/if I ever manage to save enough money I'll be buying a Mac next time:T

    Aesop, if you venture over to the techie board be prepared for loads of conflicting advice. The few times I've asked them for help I've had so many different opinions and remedies that I've been more confused than before I started:eek:. I hope you get your printer fixed soon, it's the one piece of kit I just can't live without:o

    Very straight forward and although I know it will be a while before I earn enough to withdraw anything......I cant seem to see how many points you need to reach or where you do the withdrawal?

    Edited to add........scrap that lol found it.

    Hi All, it has been a bit quiet here, but i'm still chipping away at it! Haven't actually used the £7 voucher code from amazon as I haven't got anything pressing to buy - will add to my total once I do use it.

    Things I am doing:
    Signed up for receipt hog;
    Got my first study at prolific;
    Got accepted into pinecone, albeit no studies just yet;
    Daily surveys at the various websites I am signed up for - vivatic;swagbucks;opinion world; Will add to any totals once anything becomes payable and is actually usable.

    Reading your posts keeps me focused, thanks all for that!

  • Well done all you moneymakers:beer:. I find everyone's posts really motivating. Thanks:T

    Received £8 via Paypal for an ongoing postal survey and now added to my total..

    Just received another 'pending' book sale notification from Amazon. All my sales have been straightforward until this past week, now they all seem to be pending because Amazon are having problems verifying the buyers' details:(. the earlier one was cancelled so I'm hoping this one goes through OK. It's not as profitable as the other one though but every little helps;)
