I've found that with a couple of threads... some of them are just so competitive. I was on the Save 12k in 2015 one last year and the amounts people were savings were amazing but also quite isolating for those of us who only "make" £50 a month.

I love this thread though cos you get the same reaction if you make 1p £1 £10 or £100.... well not quite but but you know what I mean.

I'm plodding.... slowly... think tortoise that's asleep and you'll get the right idea of my plod speed.
    Make £520 a year in 2020 so far (£0 cash £0 AGC)

Well I posted on the techy thread.

I gleaned what I need to amid the "my shoes are bigger than your shoes" mentality.

I can see why newbies never post or follow up again, if this is what they meet the first time on the forums.

I know exactly what you mean, Aesop;)

Yes, not all like this Fred. Luckily an old hand and not bothered by their comments but boyyyyy talk about one manupmanship!!!! Too much testerone

I found a lot of what they told me really helpful:j so I won't knock their ability and knowledge. It bugs me if I'm not sure what they mean in their long and technical reply and after I've had to ask a subsequent question they get a bit sarky and 'clever'.

Unfortunately a lot of the threads on MSE are a bit the same. If you don't 'fit' you are not made welcome :( Thank goodness for this one and the other ones I found that are welcoming, positive and supportive :T

    I agree with that, Lynne:T

Just have to say that any threads I meet you on are really nice, supportive and friendly places to be. It has a lot to do with you, actually:A

  • I am becoming a little obsessed with the extra earning and OH moans I am surgically attached to my laptop sat in front of the telly but I have done it for so long that it now feels alien to sit and watch something without multi tasking and clicking at the same time. Its got to pay off in the long run. :D:D

Exactly the same here! But when I look back and see an average £300pm coming in and finally now going off the mortgage, it's so worth it! So stick to your guns as long as you're getting time 'together' too!

Am a big addicted to the mortgage calculator too. We're aiming for 15yrs instead of 31. After 3 years of downgrading tv packages to the point we don't even have a license (just watch catchup for about 3hrs a week), I've found our productivity has shot up too. Not for everyone I know, but if you can live without tv, I promise it's worth it. We actually struggle to find any entertaining to watch now - never thought I'd say that!

  • plodding along with earning today - trying to overcome my surveyitus and managed 3 today :D

Lol, I might use that term! Does everyone go for the bigger 20min + ones? I can't bear to do them unless they're under 10mins if truth be told!

  • Well not exactly an earning, but we bought dd2s cot yesterday. Was meant to be £45 instead of £70 due to a couple of small chips in paint - obviously not really an issue. However, when we got there, they found a split in the wood, so gave us a perfect one for £45 anyway. Then we saved £100 off her matress using the gift voucher MIL gave us for the caring mother shop. So that only cost £40 with another £6 cashback due too. We're quite please with that for 5years worth of use :)
