    Hi Turtles. How is everyone?

Quick check in from me. Will pop and get some milk, fruit on way home so no SFD for me today.

Friends daughter taken back into hospital so I am back on dog walking duties later. Getting pretty worrying now as she is not improving.

Yesterday I somehow managed to gain money for going to the dentist. I had paid and claimed back(ins) ages ago 13.50 check up fee, yesterday my treatment was in a different branch paid what was due/claim put in to mediicash. Told to pop to usual practice and get 13.50 back which I did :T Free money:j

Got the day off tomorrow spending a whole day with my daughter before her travels, shown her Kat's pics on facebook of her tent being blown away but she is not put off. Glad she has the guts to do it - wish I did. Probably have drive country, look at snowy mountains and lunch out.

    Paid 5.00 off cc1 today.:T

Welsh Kitty pasta today then

Mothernerd - happy to hear the good news.

I am liking the cable draw, I moved mine to a box in the garage. No idea what is in it and why I keep it.

Can't wait to go home, looks a lovely day outside this office. Mountains were gorgeous this morning covered in snow with pink sky around them.

  • Hi all, sorry didn't get to post yesterday. I fell asleep on the couch and when I woke up I went straight to bed. Yesterday was another NSD (no.12) but only just. Hubby and the boys went to the optician for the boys'eye tests and when they finished the appointment they texted me to ask if I fancied Subway sandwiches. (I didn't get the text til I got home last night.). So when they didn't get a response from me, they decided not to buy any. Lucky save! Sometimes there are advantages of not having your phone on all the time. DS2 needed new glasses but fortunately the ones he fancied were free on the NHS. He got 2 new pairs of glasses for NOWT!

I went back to my old workplace today (doing my new job) and it felt great to be back and see my old mates. It just felt so strange being back but doing something else. At one point when I heard the phone rang, I had the urge to answer it but I realised it's not within my remit anymore. One of my best friends gave me a leaving present, a tea light candle holder with 3 angels hand in hand. I'm a bit impartial to Angels. I love it to the max.

Not sure if I've mentioned it before but last December I found out that one of the ladies in the other department was struggling financially to the point where the cupboards were empty and there was no money to buy any food. Somebody heard her say there's no point in living anymore. Two of my colleagues and I decided to give her some food items to brighten her Christmas a bit, unfortunately due to shifts and my week off I didn't get to give my share (our church gave 3 bags of food items from our food bank and £30 from the Good Samaritan Fund). Yesterday I managed to speak to the lady and told her about the gift and she was in tears when said she feels guilty because she never speaks to me. I said it's not a problem and it's my pleasure to help. I gave her a lift home and she told me how she ended up in such a big mess. I assured her that things like that happen to many people. My hubby and I both have good wages and we ended up with almost £50000 debt and has just managed to get ourselves out. I have friends with PHD and who are medical doctors, who are in the same boat. But what is important to know is that there is a way out. I didn't want to say too much and sound too lecture-y so I parted with the assurance that she can talk to me anytime and there will be no judgement. I got home with a lighter boot (the food items have always been in my car boot since before Christmas) and a happy heart. I do hope she gets the help that she needs.

Today will be a spends day. Hopefully it will be a low spend. Hubby needs a few grocery items and my car needs filling up.

Still no reports for any road kills. There must be loads of wombles around where I live.

A quiet day at home with no spending. Nearly completed research on savings accounts and Power of Attorney. Wrote a short task list and (with help from DS3 who lists mattress wrangling as a speciality) bed has been pulled out, I sprayed the wall with mould and mildew spray (think the chimneys need the flashing doing and whole house needs re-pointing) then the bed went back and the 'spare' double mattress is stowed away under my bed.

That was done in several stages as a number of baskets had to move out of my room (put them in the bath) first and then the old 'only fit for stuffing' pillows and cushions went in between the mattress and the bottom of the bed, the floor and under the bed were swept when they were clear and then I lifted things back out of the bath and tried to find spaces for them.

I have also changed the sheets on the bed. Not simple as lots of gibble (books, sewing, paperwork, the odd item of clothing) has migrated to the bed once again.

Still hoping to wash (and possibly colour) my hair but very tired now. Bins were on the list but they needed to be done so it was a bit of a cheat to put them on the list.

Today I am grateful for DS3's help (he will help but only with things I have proven I cannot do), for clean sheets and for ys bargains (think there is a fish pie lurking - so cheap I couldn't make it for the price).

Well, I am being a bit rubbish at checking in every day :o but did manage another NSD today, which brings me up to 9 :T

I am unlikely to make 21 though :o I tend to do a big shop every so many weeks, and just buy bits in between, which leads to 'little and often' spends - to say nothing of my charity shop books /toys habit :o

    Evening all,

TOG your generosity and empathy made my heart melt, I wish there were more people like you about

Today is SFD number 14 and quite pleased with that. I've been full of cold the last few days but determined to keep going. The diet has taken a hit but not too badly and I won't allow myself to buy anything in and I've ran out of 'nice' food.

Not much else happening, still waiting for the electrician to confirm a date and have plenty of work on that keeps me busy.
