Hi everyone
Today I'm grateful for being so busy that I haven't got time to spend money, or worrying about making it to payday :rotfl: - just looking for the positives in an utterly manic day.
It has been a good one actually, considering it's a full teaching day plus meeting night. Took the kids to Young Carers meeting tonight and they loved it. It's a break for them, and totally free for me. So I'm pleased.
Another nsd - still no money for another week and a bit so these are out of necessity. Not giving up

I may need to spend tomorrow as it is my friends birthday and I need to get her a gift.0 -
Evening Turtles
Pleased to report that after 3 spend days in a row , I can now report today as a NSD and up to 14/21 :j
Yesterday we had the electrician round to replace the very dodgy ugly light fittings in the living room that we inherited when we bought the house (they kept exploding the tiny little halogen bulbs that aren't cheap to replace!). Now replaced with a couple of bog standard pendant lights which will take budget friendly energy saving bulbs, hurrah! :T
This work cost £40 less than we'd budgeted for, so this will be more money to throw at the credit card at the end of the month hopefully, although the grocery budget is already looking rather low and we've still got 2 weeks & 2 days until next payday so may have to pinch a tenner to last us.
Themarsbargirl - sorry to hear you are feeling low at the moment. You are not alone. I too have been having a bit of a battle with my mood recently (which I always do in both October and January EVERY year). I've decided I'm going to have an early night, and then a deep cleaning day tomorrow. Extra sleep and being in a fresh tidy space always makes me feel far better and in control of things. Can you pin-point what is triggering your blues? It may be a combination of things and I find it helpful if I can make a mini list of action plans (I do love a good list!) to try and lift my mood :rotfl:
Hope you feel more positive soon.
TOG - what a wonderful story. I remember being in a similarly tight financial situation about 10 years ago. I always like to remind myself whenever I'm stressing over my budget spreadsheets that there was a time when all I could afford to eat each day was a banana, cuppa soup and 2 slices of bread and relied on filling myself up on free cups of tea at work!
Am so glad there is always some form of food in the cupboards and freezer now.
In other news, the husband started on his new health-kick regime today (which actually contributed to my bad mood a bit more earlier as it highlighted how inactive and unhealthy I've been recently!)
Anyway, once I got my own self-loathing out of the way, I was really pleased for him as he had also been feeling down about feeling unfit/over weight etc recently.
After seeing him return from his run with a sense of achievement and exhilaration on his face, it is spurring me on to do something for myself and I have promised I will stick my yoga DVD on at least once before I go back to work next Wed. Not only did he go for a run which is the first time in 2yrs or so, but he also then ate some homemade vegetable soup which is UNHEARD of as he has food anxiety and the equivalent eating habits of a 5 year old. He really is making a big effort and I am so proud of him as his usual diet is beans on toast or cheese on toast and that's about it! :j
Feeling far more positive after reading everyone's posts on here today too. Thank you turtles.
Sleep tight and carry on being awesome.

Catwoman, I can't exactly pinpoint it, but I've been unwell for coming on two years now and battling to get appropriate help or indeed any help for pretty much the entirety of that time. Last Wednesday I had a meeting with a consultant from another trust regarding a complaint my dad has helped me make about some aspects of my treatment and I've seriously crashed since then. My mum also triggers me an awful lot, albeit often unintentionally (case in point, I'd got out of bed today, actually got some work done on the essay due on Friday, and when she got home from work and saw me in the garden said "oh look an apparition" which triggered me, then later told me that I had to go to my deceased grandfathers house next week to aid in moving furniture <this trip had never even been mentioned to me, let alone the requirement of my presence> which makes me feel even more out of control of my life, though dad says I don't have to go) and it's kinda sucky, this time last year I was burying my grandfather and my mental health was declining and I couldn't get any support and it's all part of what led to me losing my job. So meh. Lots and I don't know if that's even all of it.

Jeanangeo - it's great that you can pinpoint that not using a shopping list lost you a NSD. How is the temptation for takeaway food going now?
Hi Bob, another late check-in for me.
The craving seems to have eased off. I noticed yesterday that I hadn't thought about it for several days which was nice. The first time I felt it recently was today when I thought about a sneaky birthday KFC treat on the way home. It just didn't seem like that much of a treat any more and so I didn't bother. So, another NSD for me which is great.
Hope everyone is OK, go ninjas, go ninjas, go!0 -
themarsbargirl sorry to hear you haven't been getting the support you need
Yesterday was a spendy day as needed to buy a few bits of food for the end of this week and start of next week. I'm away for a bit this weekend so wouldn't get the chance then. Went tutoring so that's some more money in. Going to take the money with me this weekend but hoping to bring most if it back and pay it off the debt on payday next week.
I too am suffering from a low mood again and struggling to find positives in my life at the moment.

Just a quick post but I suddenly realised we are only a week from the month end. I don't know about you all but I always feel I just survive January and then get on with the year. Have always felt that way. The thought that it's almost over anyway has perked me right up.
We have all made lots of positive steps this month even if we aren't able to see it that much now with the initial rush of excitement for 2016 waning. And February is a short month. And has pancake day!
Back later
