    I'm a 55 year old man.
Last year I noticed myself in a mirror and realised I had reached 19.5 stones weight.
I used to be very fit and determined to get fit again, despite a health issue which has prevented me from strenuous exercise for twenty years.

Between January and May I lost 1 st. with no adverse effects, so I decided to kick things up a gear.
Over the next three months I lost 3.5 stones.
Then I flat-lined at 15 st. until now.
I put 0.5 st. back on over xmas so I've begun again.

I am aiming to get down to no lower than 13 st. and no more than 14 st. before the end of June.

The changes I made when I lost the most weight:-

I cut my food portions in half and stopped snacking (a hazard of running a business from home).
I drink six to eight pints of water per day, which I have previously chilled in the fridge.
Water keeps me feeling full up and chilled water makes my body core work-off calories to warm it back up to body temperature.
I re-organised my meal times moving 'Dinner' to midday (12 o'clock), 'Lunch' to late afternoon (five o'clock or before), and introduced breakfast (which I never had normally).
I go to bed earlier (and sleep better from the exercise) and rise earlier, feeling refreshed.

I started running gently for ten minutes when I began last year.
Now I run for thirty minutes, three times a day, and walk for 60-90 minutes a day.

I still eat all the yummy foods I used to (cursed sweet-tooth), but now I know that I have to put in extra work if I do.

Good luck with your regime and don't forget this will get expensive, because you'll need to buy at least one new wardrobe of clothes.
I quite enjoyed recognising that I couldn't put it off any longer when I ran out of belts small enough.
    Good luck!

    Hello Morocha! :hello:
I've never had a manicure! Maybe I should, sometime...

    HBS x

Me neither! I had gel nails for my graduation once and it took months to get my nails back to normal once they came off that I decided I'd never get them done again! Plus I can't wear nail varnish for work anyway, so it's not worth the effort :) I do them myself for special occasions.

I weighed myself this morning and it comes in at 67kg. Thought I'd pop that here so I can see progress. I will try and remember to weigh myself again next week!

Similar weight here :) We can be weight buddies!

Is that the app where you run with Zombies chasing you? I'd like to try that..

That's the one, off for my second run tomorrow, built some of my settlement today, so far I have a farm and a communications thingy :)

Slow day today, only eaten 1100 calories but done no exercise, so I guess it all evens out in the long run. Ready for bed now though, this tracker I have says I get enough sleep but I don't believe it! Early night tonight, ready for running at lunch time and swimming on the evening (don't normally do 2 things but it's the only chance I have to use the 50m pool in the evening).

My swim coach has sort of convinced me to do an open water swim in August ... anyone ever done one?

Hope everyone has had a good day! Looking forward to some better weather!

P.S. Just learned how to multiquote :) Hurrah!

    Hi!!!

Great to hear from a man! You have done so well. It just shows that lots of small changes certainly do add up :).

Wardrobe wise, I have loads of clothes that are too small for me so I am trying to get back into them! I have some vouchers too so can buy some new pieces when I've lost weight :)

I love getting my nails done, I just go for french tips, looks very elegant :).

Never done an open swim, that'd be quite the challenge, are you going to do it?

I love getting my nails done too ! I bought a kit from Boots to do them myself and I hardly used it, I prefer nail polish! much quicker.
Good news today, my little one will join a nursery for three hours a day. This should give me the time to hit the gym three times a week or at least going for a run every day.

    Evening all,

Busy day again so just a quick post

My  & :A for today
:A Walked more then 7000 steps
:A Picked up sports bras buy one get one half price :)
::eek: far too much food day!
  • Yes, I think I will do the open water swim, there's a few all over the country, but I think I'm going to do the Scottish one in loch lomond in August. The swim coach said he'd bring me a form on Wednesday to try and persuade me but I'm not going swimming on Wednesday, going to the Turkish baths instead! I think I'm more likely to do it if I can find someone to do it with other than the coach!

Had a good couple of days, but had a generic kfc last night after going to an adventure pool with the small one, sil and nieces yesterday, had lots of fun :)

Swam 2.5km on wed and again on Fri, but Fri was in the 50m pool, and I knocked 6 mins off the 25m pool time :) hurrah! But I forgot to set my 'moov' to track it :(

So all in all, a good week this week, taking small one to rugby in a bit and maybe swimming again, need to get his confidence up before our hols.

And I'm down to 66kg this morning, that's 1.9kg (4lb) off this week :) hurrah
  • Hello fuzzy ducklings,

You are all doing really well and reading your updates is inspiring me. A mixed week for me. I made it to the gym four times for short classes. I also started couch25k today. Wow I'm unfit. Running for only a minute is a LOT harder than I thought it would be and I felt embarrassed by how tough I found it. I think this will take me longer than 8 weeks but I'll try to stick with it.

Haven't done so well food wise. I've been eating lots of great meals but undoing it by following them with half a packet of chocolate biscuits...doh. I need to wean myself off this bad habit..
