Hello Everyone

Sorry about the title:rotfl: wishful thinking!!! :rotfl:

I have recently discovered this section of the forum and I love it already :). I have a diary on the DFD board helping me keep the momentum up of paying off debt so thought one would be good here for the dreaded weight loss :p.

I really, really wish I had started this diary earlier as I don't wan't to be in that false New Year rush of 'I'm gonna join the gym, lose weight, get fit' etc etc but that is exactly what I want to do :rotfl:.

About me: I'm 31:eek: and always had to work hard to keep my weight under control. I've been fat and I've been slim. Right now I feel the biggest in about 10 years, probably about a size 16 (I don't want to refer to 16 as massive but I am quite short with a small frame so I do look uncomfortably big, one of my best friends is a size 16 but looks amazing - she's toned and curvy, I'm a little blob).

I don't know my exact weight as I threw my scales out in disgust :(. Maybe 12 stone...

I want:

To not feel so huge anymore
Get back to a comfortable size 10
Be able to run a 5km race with ease again

I have had quite a sociable month so far which is unusual for me. I have really enjoyed it and am grateful for having special people to spend time with BUT I am now sick of feeling bloated. I still have lunch tomorrow and 2x Christmas dinners plus a meal out with friends before this week is out :eek::eek:.

So, realisitcally, this isn't the time to start a strict diet plan :rotfl:, I will just fall at the first hurdle. However, i can start with a bit of exercise each day and say no to seconds :rotfl:.

After the festivities I think I am going to join Weight Watchers as it has worked well for me in the past. I'm also going to start running again:D. I might redo the 'Couch to 5k' programme.

I hope this diary will keep me motivated in the same way my debt one does. Any words of encouragement will be well received :rotfl:

Here's to getting fitter and slimmer:beer:

  • I've been rotating the same 2/3 outfits for the past couple of months as theyre the only items that fit (stretch) :(. Wish I'd woken up to my weight gain before now but I was at a stage where I really didn't care. I am now off work until the New Year so can at least stay in my Christmas pyjamas most of the time ;)

  • I think I'll join you fuzzy, if you don't mind? I'm trying to convince myself that 36 isn't too old to change :/

    Welcome on board :j:j:j

Now I have eaten enough food to fill a Tesco Express I feel I am ready to start the journey to getting fit and healthy again :). So it begins tomorrow, going to count calories using MFP and do some exercise.

    In Jan I want to:

Get hair dyed (likely one of the teaching salons to keep in cheap :money:)
Find decent tutorials on make up application and hair doos (Youtube)
    Investigate teeth whitening
    Find suitable WW meeting

Mind if I join in too?

Let myself go in the last two years so now I'm 10 stone 3 pounds which feels far too heavy for my 5 feet 8 inches. Want to drop down to a comfy 9 stones and hopefully all the outdoor exercise will put roses in my cheeks too :rotfl:

So fitbit is on my wrist, new trainers ready and planning to walk to work and back (around 5 miles) every day, also knocking my weakness of crisps and savoury snacks on the head :j

Welcome! I can't imagine you look at all heavy at that height and weight!!! But its all down to how you feel in yourself I guess.

Did Santa bring you a fitbit? I'm considering getting one, or a sports watch with gps and HR monitor. Sometimes it takes a shiny new gadget to get the motivation going.

Day 1 has gone well so far, keeping within calories and have gone for a loooooong walk :).

I have quite a slight frame so the extra weight looks daft on me :D

Running clothes laid out for tomorrow
    Work clothes in backpack
Breakfast: veggie pita pizza from Lidl
Lunch: HUGE green salad with sliced chicken breast
Dinner: Smoked mackerel with lots of steamed veg
Chores: scrub kitchen floor (great exercise when you share your house with two cats and a lurcher)

Mr Zaxdog provided the Fitbit, Santa brought me the original Grimm's fairy tales for when I flake out :rotfl:
  • Do you mind if I tag along too?
    I currently weigh 15st 8 and am only 5ft 2. I started at a gym in Sept weighing 16st 3 and got a fitbit.
I just want to feel comfortable in my own skin.

    This pita pizza sounds interesting:).
I might go for a run tomorrow too, scratch that, I WILL go for a run tomorrow (can someone remind me:rotfl:).

I kinda know what you mean, I have a small frame and the extra poundage doesn't carry well!

Oooh to Grimms tales, thats a fab present :)

    Hello :)

Sounds like you are doing fab so far:T. Do you enjoy the gym? I'd love to try a class but am ever so shy in that kind of situation.

Do you use the fitbit much?

Thanks, I do enjoy the gym actually (I'm surprising myself typing that tbh!) I used to go to a different gym but my heart wasn't in it really. My dad recommended his gym and finally I agreed to go with him and do a class, and I've done 5 classes a week with him most weeks since. I hate new situations but as I was with him it made it far easier.

I wear my fitbit all the time (even sleep in it as it monitors my sleep too) I've found it a really useful tool, I would highly recommend.

Hope you have a good run tomorrow, I used to run but can't as it kills my knees being so heavy.
