Looks like they do everything for you. Pick you up, do the tour and drop you off. Just need to take some snacks by the looks of things.

Works out about £215pp. Does this sound like a decent deal?

I have never been in a helicopter and probably never will.

Have driven to the GC and stayed overnight which I think cant be beaten for price coupled with the experience.

the above tour only goes to the west rim rather than the "proper" south rim
  • I have never been in a helicopter either despite them being based less than a mile away from where I live.
    .
It's on our to do list for next trip - MyVegas is attached to Maverick - my daughter did the helicopter trip last year
She videoed it and it looks fantastic (night flight).

I must admit, after overdosing on youtube videos as you do when your trip is on the horizon ;) I've become partial to the helicopter tours and the Cosmo, lol. Two things I previously had no interest! As there are 4 of us though, I doubt the helicopter will happen.

    Hiya peeps

We've booked for June, got a bit of a discount & over £100 cashback with Expedia & staying at the Venetian, but we are flying direct with Thomas Cook and I just wanted to ask a couple of questions.
Do you have to pay for meals now on top of the actual flight? Was looking at the charges, and I'm sure it said that a meal was £6 to £10 each. I might have read that wrong though, so excuse my numptyness on that one
And also, does anybody know what they now charge for an extra case or two? Virgin charged us an extra $50 5 years ago (as did one of the American companies for our flight to NY to San Fran but apparently that was charge for one, the other was free - big deal) I can't find anything on the Thomas Cook website other than the 23kg limit for one case.
It's been 5 years since we last went to the USA, so I appreciate that there will be a few extra charges - do they also charge you to go to the bog as well? :D (I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case)
    thanks muchly in advance

This is us too. Tony will never go near any helicopter. I'm not keen either. We did the drive and stay at the South Rim. My parents loved it. I was glad we did it for my mum because she died the year after.

Drive there, see the sun set over the canyon, go to bed. Get up next morning and do it all again. Sunset and sunrise are so different.

I can only answer the meal part of your question - the meals on TC are included in the flight price - alcoholic drinks you pay for.

Thanks for the replies. Hovis, did you do this online? or did you pay at the airport? Just asking as the last time we went, we didn't get charged at Heathrow for the extra case we had, but we did going on an internal flight from NY, and on the way back we were charged for 2 extra cases (this was Virgin)
Just trying to make sense of it all, and do a bit of bugeting (don't want it eating into my shopping money lol). That, and the news that the pound has hit it's lowest level against the dollar .......yuk!! & typical.
