Dontone we booked the extra case over the telephone...for some reason we were unable to do it online so we added it when we booked seats.

Re: countdowns, Virgin Atlantic is great as it tells you to the minute. :D
We're doing the One Cirque du Soleil this time

It is blooming brilliant. I think you could watch it every day for a week and see something different each time. I am a MJ fan anyway, but my OH thought it was amazing as well.

We were torn this time as to whether to go back to the Cosmo or try somewhere different. The Cosmo won out. I definitely recommend it!

Can't believe I've only just discovered this thread - heading back for my sixth trip to Vegas on 7th March, can't wait! We're doing the One Cirque du Soleil this time, as well as a trip to the Valley of Fire.

I was just wondering - as my husband and I are not confident drivers, we tend to go on organised tours to see further round the Vegas area, which can get a bit pricey. I found a very cheap one that takes you to Laughlin for $19 - I'm not expecting that Laughlin will be great, but thought it might be nice to have a change of scene for a day (or some new casinos ;) ). Has anyone been, do you think it's worth it for a few hours? Tour:

    Hiya

We went to Laughlin in 2008 for the day just to see what it was like. It might have changed, but we found that it was a bit more for older folk. From what I can remember it was nice to potter around for a few hours, without all the hustle and bustle of the LV Strip. It seemed to a bit 'old style Vegas' IYSWIM. Myself and DH also seem to remember it was a bit of a trek (lots of roadworks on the way - bit like here lol) You can view it on the Google Street view for a better idea. I'm sure that there was a casino in the shape of a riverboat there as well.
    Hope this helps :)

  • Thanks for this, kinda confirms what I suspected! We might go if we're at a loose end, but I won't make it a priority.

Nice to see some love for the Cosmo here, I've stayed there twice (once for my wedding trip in a suite :D:), it's one of my favourites. We're trying the Aria for the first time this trip, I've built up a fair bit of free play there on MyVegas, looking forward to spending it!

You're welcome. BTW, Valley Of Fire is rather interesting. If I had a choice between that and Laughlin, I'd do the Valley.
We like the Cosmo too. We haven't stayed there, but we did like the patisserie that was there because they do (or did) something called a lobster tail. (hope it's still there, I failed to scoff the last one, due a rematch :D )

I can't find anything about the implosion date for Riviera - it will be sad when it happens, but we missed an implosion by a day once before...in some ways would like to see one sometime.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I didn't know the Riviera had closed. I liked the casino and I especially liked the penny arcade section they had in there, always won a few dollars when we went in. We didn't like it as a place to stay though. Stayed there in 2004 and the room was very drab and musty and we had a not so wonderful view of the back of the hotel. They even charged us for using the heating, and it was in the middle of November and half of the time it chucked it down. It wasn't very nice tbh.
In regards to an implosion, we saw the rest of the Desert Inn imploded in 2004. We wouldn't have known about it if it hadn't been on the local news. It was quite interesting stood across the road from it at 2.30am in the morning watching it fold in on itself, and then running like heck away from the huge dust cloud :D It's quite an experience, and very MSE 'cos it cost nothing to watch it :D

Well I've made a right pigs ear of myvegas!!! I only go on facebook to play myvegas. Since september I've been playing and today tried to redeem show tickets. It said it couldn't match my profile to mlife and to call them.I was confused, then the penny dropped!!! In 2013 I used to play on my then 14 year old sons account-both account and email are since long gone-but my mlife card is still linked to it :rotfl: and I'm laughing so I don't remember I won't be getting free tickets for KA after all. I emailed them explaining it's linked to a shutdown account, but I suspect they'll cite the 1 account per person rule and send me on my merry way, lol.
