AFAIK the Grand Canyon is a national park.

From Vegas it's just less than 300 miles there and back

I understand it was poor wording, I meant the entrance at the south rim... I don't know much about it hence the seeking of the advice.

Yeah I think we're looking at about 4 hours there and 4 hours back

    About right.

You have 13 hrs of daylight in April.

If I were you I'd set off so you could

Stop at Hoover Dam bridge for good views for 1/2 hr and then at Kingman and Williams for a brief Route 66 nostalgia (and a bite to eat) before heading to the Canyon.

Drive the South rim and stop at all the points (or just a few selective ones)

Then do a short\long hike mule ride and time it so you can spend a while watching the sunset.

    Drive back to Vegas.

First page has some more details

IMO it's hardly worth doing it if you have to rush it, it may well be more like 5 hours each way, and stopping at the Hoover dam may add on another hour.

Much better IMO to stay over so you can take in all the vantage points in the park.

Can't believe I've only just discovered this thread - heading back for my sixth trip to Vegas on 7th March, can't wait! We're doing the One Cirque du Soleil this time, as well as a trip to the Valley of Fire.

I was just wondering - as my husband and I are not confident drivers, we tend to go on organised tours to see further round the Vegas area, which can get a bit pricey. I found a very cheap one that takes you to Laughlin for $19 - I'm not expecting that Laughlin will be great, but thought it might be nice to have a change of scene for a day (or some new casinos ;) ). Has anyone been, do you think it's worth it for a few hours? Tour:

As many here would know, I was dead scared when first considering driving in Vegas, but actually it isn't bad at all, we now tend to hire a car for a few days. Saying that, I prefer tours if we want to see something a bit different.

We did the Grayline tour last June and we enjoyed getting away a bit from the strip. The riverside is very nice, the slots a little friendlier and you do get a nice little coupon book as well as freeplay. A bit disorganised after hotel pick up, but other than that, it was a nice day out. I think it all depends on how long you are n Vegas and what other plans you might have.

Thanks for the advice. We haven't totally ruled out a car, we might see if we feel up to it when we get there! We're in Vegas for 9 days, so will probably have time for Laughlin. My expectations aren't high, and it does sound like we could while away a few hours while having a change of scene :).

Hi, was hoping for some advice.

There's 7 of us going to Vegas in May, staying at the Flamingo for a week. We're all male, and were looking to go to a pool party. What's the best way to arrange this?

Depending on price we were thinking of hiring a daybed/cabana and splitting it 7 ways, so at least we have somewhere where we can "relax" - as I've heard that with General Admission it's absolutely rammed and can be pretty stressful having nowhere to sit.

Does anyone have any experience or guidance on this? How much money might we be talking for this? Should I just start emailing hotels or is there some company that can arrange this?

I didnt think any of the pool parties kicked up until June, but I could be wrong.
Encore Beach Club seems the best around from what I hear. That and Wet Republic.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Free show tickets if it works for you.
My direct Aria 3 day booking just provides Blue Man Group, but is worth trying.

Same for me, lists the shows, but only shows Blueman group available slots....
I fell asleep for 20 mins in that show last year! :D:D
The offer works with my 3day comp at Luxor...
