Not long now for us, fly out to Vegas 2nd Sept for 5 nights :)

On the morning of the 7th we will be picking up a car and driving down to San Diego via Hoover Dam. Are there any routes you would recommend or sights worth making a point to visit on the way down? We are prepared to get into SD quite late so happy enough to deviate a little if needed and spend the whole day on the road.

  • Ok a few questions for all you LV addicts, we are off to LV in 11 days it's our first trip so want to pick up a few tips re getting around and shopping etc and things to do. So far we have prebooked the Helicopter Trip for my daughters birthday on the 5th September, prebooked because this is Labor Day so likely to be a lot of people around. We are staying at the Signature MGM and just wanted to know if anybody has recently stayed there and what you get in the way of amenities etc for your resort fee. Been to New York a few times and like the American Diner experience so any recommendations for somewhere near our Hotel for breakfast dinner etc, are the breakfast buffet's in the big hotels worth the money? We are in LV for 6 nights before going on to San Francisco for 3 nights so want to make the most of our time whilst we are in both locations. We won't be having a car so if anybody knows of any Walgreens or other supermarket in the vicinity of the Hotel please let me know, it's only for drinks and snacks etc so no need for a Walmart for big shopping.

    Thanks

We love MGM Sig. Stayed many years, went in May, and going back in November.

If you can upgrade to a 1 bed suite for a reasonable amount it is well worth it.

Drinks and snacks, then the nearest (and often the cheapest) shop would be out of the West Wing at MGM. The back door to the Grand Canyon Experience shop, and where the drinks are, will be right in front of you.

We have massive evening meals / buffets, so only have porridge in the room for breakfast. We buy from the 2 supermarkets below.

2 supermarkets are nearby, and depend where you are passing. 1st is Walgreen on the outside of Planet Hollywood. A 10 minute walk to your room, down E Harmon Ave, and then in the gate where you would drive in (your key card opens a gate next to the barrier). 2nd is CVS at the side of Monte Carlo. A longer walk than 1, cross the road towards Hard Rock, down to Grand Canyon Experience shop, in to MGM via west wing door, through MGM, then down the corridor (entrance is next to the pool entrance) on the moving walkways to MGM Sig.
  • Thanks for the info, we have booked a balcony suite on an upper floor with a strip view if possible, as I mentioned it's for my daughters 30th birthday and she wanted to be in LV for her birthday so we fly out from London on 3rd September so it gives us a couple of days to get acclimatised.

I have just viewed some of the buffets on YouTube, and it certainly looks as though you get a lot of choice, any idea's on costs and recommendations?

This should give you prices and ratings. I think they keep it up to date pretty well.

All the rooms are great. I am sure you will love MGM Sig.
I know you now have prices for buffets, and imo you get what you pay for (referring mainly to dinner / evening meal, I cannot comment on breakfast).

You fly the same day as us Raymondo. We fly from Glasgow down to Heathrow, then out of there at 440pm with BA.

Drinks and snacks, you could find your nearest ABC store. Or Walgreens or CVS. There is a Walmart on Tropicana so you could take the bus out east to that if you could be bothered. Other than that there might be a petrol station out the back, Rebel at the intersection of Koval and Tropicana. I'm sure you could go out the monorail exit to get to that maybe?
