The above is similar to my trip this November.
Flying into SFO for 4 nights then driving and staying in Yosemite NP overnight. We are then travelling to Death Valley for a stayover but because Tioga pass will be closed, we are stopping off in Bakersfield for the night (lovely Art Deco hotel called The Padre) as the journey from Yosemite to Death Valley is 8 hours and as I do not drive, I did not want my OH to drive this in one day (he is, after all on holiday too :-))
Then onwards to Las Vegas (journey time approx. 2.5 hrs) for 9 glorious nights.
You will love the padre, the hotel has nice bar and food.
Also the bath water came from the ceiling :rotfl:0 -
Afternoon folks...
Is it possible to book a patio table by the fountains at Prime? I requested it when I made the reservation but they are being a little vague and will only commit to "we take requests very seriously and will do our best".

Blindman, I have done the same thing so thanks to Stuie for the info!
Looking forward the check-in kiosk!!!
Does anyone know of any (or smaller fee) fee free ATM's in the area. The last tripadvisor info is 2011 and I have asked my card issuer (Halifax) but got no further. My Halifax card is the Clarity but every ATM seems to have quite large fees to withdraw cash, so does anybody have any ideas where I might get cash for as little as possible???
Thanks v much0 -
Casino Royale still has the ATM machine which charges $1 for withdrawals....
Also, I used the ATM inside Walmart on Tropicana avenue, ZERO ATM fee's0 -
Thanks v much Stuie0

Blindman:
Do the online check-in...
But when u get to the rental place, yup, u still gotta push buttons on the kiosk machine, but luckily there will be no queues for that machine(s)...
Bang in your details (took me 3 minutes when I did mine), and then it prints the agreement so u can goto the garage, and then slip somebody $20 to get a different car!
I have never had to stop at the kiosk if I have done the online check-in thing? I just go straight to the cars with my and no one has ever suggested I needed to do anything else?
I dug out my skip the counter thing from last time:Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

I don't use this because I add Tony as an extra driver for free. He hardly ever drives, but it's worth the short time at the kiosk to have the option. I've checked in for it then not used it though.
If you don't need to add a spouse that method is faster than ever.0 -

Pebbles I always add my wife, but do it online before we go, so we can still skip all the desks
edit
I think you register both yours and partners DL with alamo first and then sign up to be able to skip the counter, I cant quite remember now, just know we dont stop to add her at counter
I think what stuie is doing is checking in online but then there is another stage to do online to be able to skip the counter
Thats what I love about Alamo (brits) it has been the cheapest for me the last few times and you can be in your car so fast0 -
2 weeks today until our trip.
Still need to:-
Book a car
Book 3 more myvegas rewards between us
Maybe get a Rio buffet groupon
Think about Roos'n'more
Has anyone been to Roos'n'more, and if so was it after it reopened. I'm thinking about doing a VIP meet and greet, the sloth one. Anyone think it's a bit cruel, or are the animals quite happy? I did think about the monkey one but have been up close to monkeys in Gilbraltar, and also fed them in Jaipur so the sloth one would be a bit different. I'm slightly worried I'll be scared of it though lol.0 -
Glad to hear so many thumbs up for Yosemite
We're going in October - 3 nights in SF, 3 nights in Sacramento (staying with friends), 2 nights in Yosemite - down the south part, 1 night at Mammoth Lakes, 1 night just outside Death Valley, 3 nights LV, 2 at Colorado Springs, 1 in Barstow en route to 2 nights in LA. Sounds a lot of travelling but only just over 1,000 miles with only a couple of big drives. Not that long now
