For some reason I can't figure out, BA from NCL has been cheaper than getting flights from LHR.
for example I booked flights yesterday for my Aunt and her friend to come out to Vegas for some of our trip yesterday for £540 each return from NCL.
If I select the same dates from LHR the cheapest possible is £680.
It's very odd and was the same when I booked our flights during the recent sale.
It happens. Depends which fare buckets are open from NCL compared to LHR. For anyone reading, only think of doing this if you will start your journey at NCL. If you think you can book from NCL and not fly the first leg (NCL-LHR) you will be disappointed when you try to check in at LHR and find your whole flight has been cancelled!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I'd definitely go on my own. Don't think I'd be allowed to though. The OH would be very unhappy about it if he thought he was missing out.
He's been on his own for a couple of weeks in Vegas and quite enjoyed himself. I don't think he'd choose solo over going with me though, I do all the planning and organising and he's not keen on that sort of thing.0 -
would be worried about silly things like eating alone, going to a show alone
Nobody would stop you doing them alone, and nobody would regard doing them alone as in any way peculiar. Safety wouldn't be a worry unless you went drinking in some dodgy bar in a shady part of town."Such an enormous country, you realize when you cross it" - Jack Kerouac0 -
Both my OH and myself agree that I could easily do Vegas on my own!!!I go off on my own shopping and nipping here and there...one year OH wasn't well when we were there and wasn't up to walking or going far so I did go off by myself a lot and rather enjoyed it!!!!0

What aspects of doing those activities are you worried about?

hi
and i think you ve sorta nailed it on the head, i would feel a bit *peculiar* I guess in my mind people would *assume* i d be some sorta weido being on my own but it could be just me being a bit paranoid/over thinking it
thanks to all whom have commented and well i think that has sorta reassured me in a sense and I am def thinking of trying vegas on my own , though i ll be asking alot more questions
kind regards0 -
It's funny, I've been looking at booking a trip, perhaps solo and even though I'm happy to come and go by myself here, I did have the same concerns as Bobby. Thanks for raising them :T I probably couldn't anyway, as no way would the ex look after my youngest-the others can look after themselves at 23, 19 and 17. I really want to go back and on my own I could swing it
Myself and my 8 year old are doing Dubai in October and we were meant to be doing Orlando or even NY next year.
But I think the fact I missed out on 3 days due to chickenpox gateI don't feel the trip was completed! I've even been pricing up the Feb halfterm for me and my 8 year old to go on our own, but I don't want cold weather. I know this isn't the blues talking, lol! I'm going to have another gander at the warmer months

hi
Im glad im not the only one who would consider travelling alone , though i did have a few little concerns, though seem silly now !
In regards dubai, thats on the list of to visit !
Have you thought of doing a 2 city thing, as you mention NY and Orlando?
i highly recommend NY , we have done ny and vegas twice, both times on a 2 city holiday!
thanks again to everyone whom has mentioned about travelling solo, and well at the moment i am considering just up and heading to vegas and a few other cities as well i would feel.
Just gonna keep an eye out for deals and if things go okay i ll snap it up0 -
I'll go on my own at some point..
I want to do the Triangle'ish drive, but hit up Vegas for about 5 nights, then UFO ally, onto Death Valley, onto Yosimitie, Sacremento to pickup the Highway 1, down to LA...
Wife wont do a driving bash, so my plan at some point is to do that trip.... Am 40 now, and I want to do this trip before I reach 45, or no later than 50.....
I love driving, especially in the Muscle carsI like the states, I like Vegas, so give myself a 10 day trip to do that = perfect!
I used to work in the states (NY/San Fran/Chicago), so used to eat out a lot by myself, always lots of single peeps eating out...0 -

Going via Owens Valley (US395) is much more scenic than the boring UFO road. Bishop is a good town for the overnight stop between Las Vegas and Yosemite.
If the Tioga Pass is closed for the winter (roughly November to May or June) then you have to take the far less scenic route via Bakersfield, or the much longer route via Lake Tahoe.
Be sure to give Yosemite at least one full day (two nights), more if possible. It's one of the most beautiful places on Earth and there's a lot to see, spread over a large area. Shortchanging Yosemite is the most common regret people have after a trip like this.
BTW Sacramento is inland (and an uninteresting place). You can join the Pacific Coast Highway/CA1 at San Francisco, or further south at Santa Cruz or Monterey etc if SF doesn't appeal to you."Such an enormous country, you realize when you cross it" - Jack Kerouac0
