It will mean higher room rates though.
fingers crossed they do awya with the stupid resort fees!
I think people would not mind if the room rates were a LITTLE bit higher IF it included the resorts fees.
I think alot of people like value for money for stuff.I mean you would not pay a million pounds for a car thats worth a £1000 would you?
I guess its the same princiable for hotel rooms(not just vegas ) i mean can you see yourself paying £500 a NIGHT for a room with a tiny bed, a tiny bathroom, shower, no tv no carpet,
now take the same £500 imagen having a suite, two floors, 2 huge king sized beds, 2 bathrooms, 2 huge showers, baths, great views huge tv s a dinning room, loads of space, butlers, etc now that MIGHT be worth £500 a night imo0 -
So if they put $10 fee on parking we'll just leave the car at the Platinum and get Uber everywhere. It's only $5-10 to any hotel from there. Go to one, walk to the rest in that area and get an Uber or Lyft back and it's already as cheap as parking.
In fact it might even save us money because I would seriously have to consider if it's worth hiring a car.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
I do think resort fees were a mistake - not so much in principle but the way they've gone up. If you look at some of the vegas.com offers for midweek Strip hotels the resort fee can be as much or more than the room rate - which is ridiculous.
I've only stayed at MGM hotels when I've had a comp and only sometimes have a car so this change doesn't have a massive impact on me except I'll just not bother gambling at MGM hotels and give my gambling to CET instead (who must be rubbing their hands together at this move by MGM ) as I'd prefer to earn comps at hotels that don't have a parking fee.
I stayed at the Luxor on a Friday night in September - the parking was an absolute mess- General parking was completely full and there was a massive line for valet . Free room or not I'd never stay there again or bother with their casino if I had a car regardless of parking charges.
I find I enjoy the smaller or off Strip hotels better . At this point if I was staying on Strip I'd stay at the Flamingo or CP (in one of the towers that doesn't involve at trek through the casino only) or walk from the Tuscany or Plat to the Strip or use the Orleans . Gold Coast very quick and reliable shuttles.
Ultimately I believe most people won't be paying parking charges though and it'll be like Fremont Street where parking is waived for hotel residents and diners and all but the most casual gambler.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
I will be making my last LV trip soon . I have been going 3 or 4 times a year since the late 80s . I remember staying at the Union Plaza at the end of Freemont street for $10 and pretty ladies handing out rolls of quarters to entice you into casinos to gamble. I grumbled at the "resort fee" when it came in but that has now increased to stupid level and a parking charge is the last straw. It is now just another holiday resort for gullible Brits.
There are other places in the SW .USA that will take my business.0 -
I am very tempted to book another trip to Vegas after a brilliant holiday last year! Last time I booked with lowcostusa.co.uk and was happy with the deal, this year I'm finding good deals with myamericaholiday.co.uk does anyone recommend this company?
Prices for a week in August/September direct from Manchester with Virgin are coming out at £2100 staying in a city corner suite at the Vdara (stayed in the panoramic suite last time, lovely but £££) does this seem like a good deal or would you wait? Any booking tips would be great, I have to book as a package to break up the payments.0 -
Is that each or for two?
It sounds expensive to me either way, but then I'm a cheapskate.0 -
Let's get this in perspective. Everything everywhere in the states that is considered a tourist attraction is getting expensive. We just came back from Florida. The extras added to our basic room rate made my eyes water. We booked with booking.com and were told that the final bill would be $725. On checkout the total was $950. Resort fee, occupancy fee, state tax, sales tax, you name it they piled it on. Needless to say we are arguing this with booking.com who themselves seem pretty !!!!ed about it.
You either gotha reject the big corporates and go off strip or suck it up.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. Yay booked my next trip to LV at the end of May. Going to San Francisco first for 3 nights then off to caesars palace for 5 nights.....Total rewards nicely comped my 5 nights in a laurel premium strip view room:j:D0

I can see where your coming from and i think thats what hacks alot of people off.If you buy a room , you do NOT expect to be charged for silly taxes n stuff, as you have said in your post it seems they pilled everything and plus some onto your bill.
For myself and i guess alot of people i like to know in advance what i pay, Now if a company told me straight up i expect to pay x,y,z for a room fair enough.
I think thats the way it SHOULD be. if a hotel wanna charge something for a room they should tell you before hand, and include everything in the price, then you,me, or whomever has the right to agree to the price or look elsewhere.
Its just I being a bit*tight* I,often budget things out for holidays ,espcailly in vegas i tend to budget things daily e.g x amount for gambling,x amount for food, x amount for shows x amount for whatever and i tend to take an extra $100 odd just in case and do not wanna be hit with un expected taxes0 -
I think the thing that gets me the most, is hotel guests having to pay for parking. I could almost accept non-guests paying, it wouldn't please me, but it's the idea that hotel guests already paying to stay there AND paying the resort fee will have to pay to park...that is just too far to me.
I have paid for parking in non-Vegas hotels before, but I didn't have to also pay a resort fee...maybe there are such beasts out there that do require both.
I am also interested to know how they will monitor this and what chaos it is going to cause.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
