That's ok hog away, remember lots of lurkers might find it helpful and non lurkers too
Do start your own diary I started mine before I started making payments.
Yes it is interesting and shocking how much interest you can save xx
Tilly Tidy is just removing your pennies off your bank account into another account or putting your change in a tin. So every day I take the spare pennies off my account to another account and it's even called Tilly Tidy fund after the lady who coined it.Debt Free Diary - Second Chances! Observations
Quite surprised how much more income we had recieved, if I had guessed I would have said more like the £3,300 mark.
Got to keep an eye on the clothes, we have not had new in so long but mustn't go over yearly budget.
Food, better at £334 for month when it was £440 before, will try to bring Feb in at £300.
House needs major repairs and I have stuff for one room and partial for 2 others, so not bad. Need to save for bigger decoration items though.
The benefits of having a car budget brought home to me.
Disappointed that I didn't reach my target on the op's but having to save £558 for holiday put a dint in that.
Pleased I seem to be able to get a lot chebang for my bucks.
Aims for February.....
Holiday spending and fuel saves £300
Car repair buys £150
House decor buys £75 (matching rug for front room)
TCB aim £70
Savings total aim £696 over and above holiday savings

Hi, I've been catching up with your diary. You're going great guns. It's really interesting to read how people are tackling this journey. Mr T and I used to spend every penny that came in and more on top. Not a healthy way to live at all and I used to be extremely cross with our foolishness. Finding MSE completely changed our lives, not quite overnight as I had to get Mr T on board but certainly fairly quickly.
Forgive me for commenting on the monthly lottery spend - throwing that into a savings pot would mean a healthy amount by the end of the year
I'm off to make a cuppa and catch up with diaries.

I know I know on the lottery front, had same numbers since the beginning (OH not me your honour:D) That's how much it is now, one line on UK and one line on Euro twice a week................funny my mum said they stopped doing it at Christmas because they worked out that since C*melot started they must have spent £100's but hardly won anything, I daren't look
I found :money: first in May 2009, those days our mortgage was £600 a month, secure loan was £250 and credit cards £300 :eek::eek: I not sure how I survived but I did and to be honest that pales compared to being short about £9k last year for DD course, it was relentless, I got so close to the edge I didn't just sniff it I kissed it :rotfl::rotfl:
BUT it taught me something that was so valuable and it had been right there all the time I just didn't see it.
If you have to then you can
I am currently on pg 11 of your diary :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Debt Free Diary - Second Chances! Life in a Tourer........Debt free, building a savings pot0 -

Absolutely - there's loads there that if you *had* to up the overpayments, you could. Then its your choice about whether you want to or not
The thing you mentioned about thinking your income was almost a quarter less than it actually was, is really important - my guess is that you're going to gather momentum and have an absolute ball with all this :j:j:j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
The income was quite a surprise I suppose it was because it just disappears every month. I think analysing my expenses really helped (coals to Newcastle that one as it's my day job lolol)Debt Free Diary - Second Chances! Life in a Tourer........Debt free, building a savings pot0

:mad::mad::mad: That is for the Post Office
I moved to PO for telephone and broadband in Jan last year, I should have known leaving would be a nightmare as joining them was horrendous.
They cancelled the order to join them, left me without internet for 3 weeks and then, having offered me a stronger router they told me I was not eligible for one
Fast forward one year..........calls to find out when my contract expires, am I happy with the service, no I said, puts me on hold to find out contact end date, really puts me through to technical!!!! He having listened to me found out that I had signed a new contract in September this year :eek::eek::eek: ER NO
