Yip - my sister has the same fluffing problem too! In theory it's great that it goes off and gets "fixed" - however she has two little ones, one of which is a baby and being without a tumble dryer whilst they take their time fixing it, will be a ball ache (her words)..

I have just been trying to get together a summary of the month in money terms and not sure how I have managed it but it would appear I have overspent by about £300 (£287 of which is unknown :eek::eek:) but I have savings surplus of £735.60
It sounds like you need to do a savings diary for a little while, Sue, if that much spend is unknown to you after summarising a month :)

Hello Sue - hope you don't mind me popping in!!! Loving your diary - very honest! you have done so well this month with all that saving - but its so easy to 'loose' money through frittering isn't it?

Its interesting how different people perceive their debt isn't it? I have not started a MFW diary as I wanted to get my other debt out of the way however you give me a different perspective - if debt is on 0% and mortgage isn't should I be focussing on OP mortgage rather than paying of debt? For me I feel a need to get 'debt free' in relation to my CC and loan before tackling my mortgage but your way does seem to make a lot of sense - I guess I really just wanted to declare myself debt free even if it isn't the most efficient way to do this!!! Food for thought!

Glad you like it judi24.................um my honesty can often get me into trouble :rotfl::rotfl:

From my signature you can see I had my first  moment in 2009 this really was an in your face light bulb as MBNA decided to up my interest rate to 40.5% (despite paying on time) as I quote "was considered a risk" and having struggled with debt since August 1988 I finally said NO you're not bullying me any more, so my debt road is a long one.
As for paying the mortgage it is the only debt I pay interest on and makes sense to pay that BUT it did take awhile to get my head around that one and I still struggle with it now, these guys on here are wonderful, no judgements not even censure.

I can understand from your signature why you would want to be debt free before you started on your mortgage and you don't seem to have long to go. May I suggest you start on your mortgage free journey, even if it is just a small amount, it may prolong your debt free one slightly but at least you will be tackling some of that interest :D

    This can be very helpful

Put your mortgage in and the overpayments and see how much interest you can save

  • Judi, whilst you're 5 months from debt free I'd stay focussed on that target date. In the meantime make plans for tackling the mortgage thinking about how much you can throw at it once the debt is gone. To get started on mortgage in the meantime possibly throw some TT's at it as they get very addictive and you could gave £100 ready in those 5 months.

Thanks Sue - I am not going to hog your thread - but I do appreciate your advice and have played with the 'what's the cost' calculator and it makes for interesting reading! Will start my own MFW thread as it will take me a while to plan my next steps! I do have to ask though - what is a tilly tidy?
