Daughter stopping me seeing my grandson unless I pay her

  • Okay - I decided to time myself to see exactly how long it would take to get an initial list of places to view in that city I know well. Bear in mind its a city (ie many more places to choose from than the rather smaller place I imagine OP is living in).

It took me 11 minutes to do a scan of Rightmove and pick out the ones I would study the details of more closely. There are 15 I have picked out in that time as worth reading up about more closely.

If I were to read the details carefully of all 15 - it would probably take me up to an hour (two max.) and I would have narrowed down to a handful and even be able to say which one I would probably buy by the end of that.

As another poster had picked up on, is this a case of daughter saying she won't bring child to your home rather than specifically saying you can't see the child anymore? If so, is that really because of the stranger lodger that you've taken in? I know I wouldn't be incredibly happy about a stranger being around my kids when they're at their grandparents, particularly as said stranger seems so far removed (ie younger man, older woman) from the grandparent.

There's nothing wrong with someone taking on a lodger, especially in a separate self-contained annexe, and there's nothing wrong with a person being a kickboxer.

Or not quite so self-contained in this case:
My tenant is an excluded occupier at the moment. The annex doesn't have a bathroom meaning he is using the downstairs bathroom in my house. I am not charging him any rent.

Nothing wrong with a person being fat and bald either :)
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)

OP, Do you have a deed of trust attached to the property, listing your daughter as having an interest?

it was suggested above that I prove that ANY pub would lay on a taxi for their staff.
No, you were asked to provide evidence that it was COMMONPLACE for pubs to pay for taxis home for their staff. Where I live its unheard of. Your salary is for paying out on means to get you too and from work.
  • Evidence that its commonplace for pubs to cover the taxi fares of their staff after their turn of duty (ie as well as pay them wages)

    .......

Confirmed that I used the word "commonplace".

Confirmed that I have just checked the dictionary definition of commonplace and it means "a usual or ordinary thing". Yep = standard practice is what I meant.

Standard practice and commonplace don't mean the same thing.

I don't know how long you are retired but most pubs are now struggling and budgets cut to the bone. a lot has changed in the industry.
