Women who keep their married name YEARS after the divorce.

Has anyone who can't understand why women don't change their name back actually tried to do it recently. It used to be as simple as ringing a couple of numbers like DWP & HMRC and calling in your bank for 5 miinutes & saying I am going to change my name back to my maiden name - job done. Now, well anyone got out of their bank for anything in less than 30 mins & I bet they still won't do it. You may hate him and his name but the pain of getting rid of it can be even worse!0

Oh !!!!!!. 4 Xmas cards arrived this morning (I hate Xmas cards), all from people who know about our names and all made out to Mr + Mrs Hisname. Recycling was too good for them; I've burned them.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0

I've always like the british way of addressing relatives as 'Auntie Sue' etc.
In my parents country, from what someone calls a relative you can tell whether that relative is from your mum or your dad's side and whether they are older or younger than your mum/dad, some titles you can tell their position in the family such as 3rd daughter or youngest son. It does get confusing as it could mean that siblings and cousins call the same person by different titles.0 -
Frankly burning a Christmas card because it is addressed incorrectly seems a little OTT but if your OH agrees then I guess it is your choice. He does agree right or doesn't he get the choice.
Incidently, trying to be a man is a waste of a good woman ( the original quote I believe) but what about a bad one?0 -

That's disgusting behaviour
Someone has taken the time to think of you, write you a card, and post it to you and because the way they have addressed you doesn't suit, you burn it
Fair enough, you didn't take your husbands name. A lot of women don't nowadays. But most would still have the good grace to overlook it and then just accept the card with the good grace in which it was given and put it on the mantelpiece (or wherever you put your cards) with the rest of the Christmas cards.0 -

Or does she put the ones that are addressed to her liking in the recycling instead of consigning them to the fire?
If she hates Christmas cards so much why doesn't she tell everybody she's not sending them and doesn't want to receive any?0 -
Going by previous posts, the person concerned hates Christmas and won't let her small daughter see Santa Claus because he's just a fat man in a suit. Whether any of this actually occurs in real life or the posts are merely designed to provoke discussion is unclear. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Indeed.
Pointless text just the make up the necessary character count.0 -
that seems a hysterical brattish over reaction from nanu.. maybe you should tell those who sent them you are simply ungrateful and do not wish them to send cards to you any more.. what a sad waste of someones time, effort and money. I truly pity your friends and relatives.
Cards here come addressed to OH or to me and if they are (rarely) addressed to both they just have first names on, we usually get 2 of these.
Why does what is written on the envelope matter? it is what is inside and the sentiments it is sent with that are important.
I hate cards too and never send any other than to online friends... I feel sorry for the treesLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
