Hi all,
Oops, I don't seem to have a number for this year. Maybe I forgot to register. May I still join? I am saving on a monthly basis.

A couple of good news items from me: through many emails, some of which unfortunately unpleasant, I have managed to secure payments from Quidco (c. £27) on a payout they appeared to be trying to get out of and my claim against Thomson has finally settled, through Botts, so I'm expecting another £300 or so. Thomson money likely to come next month so my March submission will still likely be low!
Also on Monday my 11 year old car, who hasn't had a service since I got her two years ago, passed her MOT first time round. So that's £55 back into my budget woo!
Anyway, it's a shame that you have to fight (... for your rights) but this website and this forum have educated me enough that I'm genuinely making £100s out of it. Yay!0 -
£20 sent across to savings today. Total now is £1280.0

By "Botts" do you mean Bott & Co?
I just googled them out of sheer idle curiosity and it seems they do flight delays. I was delayed back in 2014 and was given short shrift by both the airline and the CAA so I've filled out the enquiry form. Chances are, they might give the same response, but at least then I'll know for sure.

Yep Bott & Co. I managed to get a payout from Thomas Cook within 2 months of submitting a claim to them myself, but Thomson were playing silly !!!!!!s and I will absolutely never use them again. So, much as it pained me to hire a firm that would take more than a quarter of what's mine (being a lawyer myself!) I was just too angry to fight with Thomson and make any kind of sense. Their behaviour on the day and since then has been abysmal. I mean, deliberately refusing to provide water during a 9 our delay? C'mon - direct breach of the duty of care under the Regulation.
/rant.
In this experience I found the claims handler at Bott & Co to be terrible e.g. dropping other elements of my claim (such as a refund for the food and water I had to buy because Thomson refused to provide it when asked) without asking me and without telling me. I only found out when I asked them at send me a copy of their letter to Thomson. And they didn't tell me until I asked that they had agreed a 6 week extension with Thomson. I only stuck with them because they are the only name the airlines fear, and £300-odd is better than nothing. I'm using them again for a claim against Delta for a 7 hour delay but only because I am tired of fighting. If you feel like I do, I'd recommend them but definitely take them with a pinch of salt.
And Richy, be warned that your submission of the form is enough for them to take direct action against the airline without telling you. I'd recommend emailing them regularly asking for updates. I actually withheld my signature to the retainer letter until they would tell me what was going on but they felt this didn't preclude them from talking action on my behalf in this manner.
P.S. I got the CAA involved too given the particularly bad circumstances I was subjected to but they really couldn't have cared less. The CAA is run by the airlines, of course.
P.P.S. With the referendum scheduled for about 3 months from now, my personal opinion is that anyone with a potential claim against the airline should take action asap.0 -
Good start to the month. After switching all my Lloyds accounts for bonuses elsewhere, I realised I had left £830 trapped in an Online Saver that couldn't be sent anywhere via internet banking. Took a trip to my local branch and managed to withdraw the lot.
So added £830 into my TSB current account at 5%. Still waiting for the £100 switch bonus on this account to but I shan't consider it savings as I've already took £100 out for getting me started in matched betting.
Won't submit my update till the end of the month but I'll be down slightly as an impromptu holiday to Venice next month for the girlfriends birthday was booked.#157 - Save £12k in 2016: £12000 / £12000

March is looking like a good month for me, with my Sharesave plan money received and I'll be receiving my company bonus at end of March.
I've already banked the usual £700 already. Of the extra money, I will probably save either an extra £2,000 this month, or split the £2,000 half/half between March and April.
You may ask 'Why don't you save it all now?', well the extra money is going into S&S ISA so an extra month wait (in the TSB 5% account) won't make much difference."If you aren’t willing to own a stock for ten years, don’t even think about owning it for ten minutes” Warren Buffett
