  • No #102 declaring another good month of 904.52 which brings my total to 2,640.24 or 29.34% of my 9,000 target. Quite chuffed with that:j

Having a crazy amount of problems with my phone; decided I'm going to take the plunge and buy an iphone 6, soon, outright. I figured it'll be cheaper than tying into a contract, in the long term.

Also, gym membership fees (£32 a month) is killing me... Knowing it could be my phone contract.

Also haven't been to the gym since last year autumn and I'm scared that if I cancel and want to rejoin later they'll charge me a higher fee:embarasse

On the plus side I got 2 slices of Starbucks chocolate cake for free just by being the last customer and being very smiley... :)
    Plan to save £100k:
    July 2018 53k
    Jan 2019: 65k
    July 2019: 77k
    Jan 2020: 89k
    July 2020: 101k

Buy the iPhone 6 outright. It's always the cheapest option with maximum flexibility in terms of contract.

Cancel the Gym membership. £32 a month is ridiculous if your not even a regular. If you need to rejoin later, you will find a better deal for your needs.

Also they'd need to be charging you more than £32 x number of months since you've been for a workout more for the length of time you're a member when you rejoin. For the sake of argument, say you quit after 6 months and when you rejoin they charge you £5 more per month. It would take 38 months at £5 extra per month to match the unnecessary £32 per month you're paying now. In other words, if you'd quit immediately, that would have been a good idea if you'd pay an extra £5 per month if you had quit for at least 6 months.

I think. Maths is not my strong point.

When I was in your situation, I just quit the gym. :rotfl:

That Friends episode coming to mind for anyone?

Just submitted my form :) I think I must have made a mistake with my Jan or Feb submission as I have more saved then I thought. Just my normal saving of £200 into my HTB and £300 into my FD regular saver this month (Although I've submitted £700 on the form to bring my total up to the correct amount).

Got a total of £2900 so far, may have to increase my target at some point but I don't want to get carried away.

I also opened a TSB account this week so I can start saving into there too and will use it as my oyster card as I'll get 5% cashback on it :D

    Hi all,

Oops, I don't seem to have a number for this year. Maybe I forgot to register. May I still join? I am saving on a monthly basis.

    All the best,

March is looking like a good month for me, with my Sharesave plan money received and I'll be receiving my company bonus at end of March. :)

I've already banked the usual £700 already. Of the extra money, I will probably save either an extra £2,000 this month, or split the £2,000 half/half between March and April.

You may ask 'Why don't you save it all now?', well the extra money is going into S&S ISA so an extra month wait (in the TSB 5% account) won't make much difference.

I decided to go with the £2,000 this month. I have temporarily removed the £2k from my Nationwide FlexAccount and that £ will buy ITs in the S&S ISA tomorrow (Tuesday morning). When I get paid on Wednesday, that will then replace the £2k in the Nationwide FlexAccount.

I wanted to get the ITs bought earlier in the week rather than later in the week, because I think I'll get a better price. Not making any crazy predictions, but I've always been a believer of buying earlier in the week, and selling at the end of the week (usually Friday). A lot of people's buying/selling are influenced by their mood, we often see Thursday's and Friday's a good day in the market, and Monday's and Tuesday's as bad days in the markets.

I will submit my update when I actually get paid this week, and everything's all in order. :D

  • £1200 in for March. Just back from a weekend away and I spent more than I wanted (but had fun so it was worth it). I think weekends are far more expensive, pro rata, than a proper holiday but nice to pepper them over the year and to look forward to them when I am slaving away at work!
