£1336.54 for me this month, S&S ISA has taken a bit of a battering but still happy!

Well done everyone on your great starts to the year!

Having checked my figures, I'm at £500 cash for January (I also managed to overpay on my mortgage too, but that is a different "pot").
A few January treats meant I could have managed more - but they are worth it!

    Thanks SF!
  • £800 for me this month. A slow start but it should start ramping up as the year progresses. :)

I did that a couple of years back, rather than buying hardbacks that I'd only read once. It saved me a bomb and made some space on my bookshelves!

I also cut back on memberships of N.T., Arts Fund, a couple of local museums etc that I really wasn't visiting much which saved me over £200pa. I know one should pay just to support them, rather than doing it on a "am I getting value for money?" basis :o , but needs must! :D

Yes to this Wentthedaywell - also am selling off a few books to make a few quid, and have dropped membership of the one museum I was a member of :) Needs must indeed. :)

If you are regularly overpaying your mortgage, why not join the MFiT T4 (Mortgage Free in Three - Take 4) thread too, to make yourself more accountable? Lots of us over there are not actually planning to clear our mortgages within three years. Although it formally started a week ago, we don't report in until the last OP of Q1 has taken place. January update - £700 saved.

£500 to Nationwide RS, and £200 to Halifax HTB ISA.

Okay-ish start, I know as the year goes on I will be able to improve how much I save. :)

No. 11 in the challenge declaring today because my bank accounts won't update any further over the weekend anyway and if I sell any eBay items I'll simply roll the amount over to Feb, so my Jan savings come to £1,681.15. I had an unexpected vet bill so it's less than it would have been otherwise. But it was good to have had the money in the bank to pay the vet bill too. :)

Spreadsheet updated :) there's lot of fantastic numbers to the start of the year - well done everyone!

I, on the other hand, have had a not too great start as I've only managed to save £302.07 this month. However, onwards and upwards!
