Helllllo everyone.
Delighted to announce a November pay of £500!!! It'll leave me super tight for December but need's must. Now well on track to meet my target for next year.0 -
Hi everyone, was just reading though this forum and love the idea of having a set target to save! I would love to join next year but unfortunately £12,000 is much to high for me considering my income and bills! Could I set my own, lower target?
Also there are some great savers on here! Any tips for someone whose just starting out?0 -

Lula, you will be very welcome to save as much or as little as you want - we all have our own targets. I think the £12k came from "Save £12,000 in 2012" and we've just carried on ever year!
A good tip is to pay into your savings on payday, like as if it is just another standing order; don't wait to the end of the month and save what (if any!) is left.Save £12k in 2022 thread #7:
Save £10,000 Jan-May 2022 THEN RETIRE!!
Final total for (half) year: -£4,0000 -

Yes you can set your own lower target! Set something achievable for yourself to start off with and then push yourself to break that limit. It helps to let us know from month to month, how you are getting on and get some tips along the way! It's just so nice to see everyone's else progress!
Use Regular Savers. Once started you become a passive saver. They are automatic, pay high rates of interests and inhibits your from spending more than you need to.

Another great tip is to tidy your bank account regularly - this means rounding down the balance every time you check (could be daily, or weekly) - usually to the next round £5 or £10 - so my shopping was £72.73 and I tidied £7.27 away to the adjacent savings account - some people refer to this a s Tilly-Tidying - Tilly is still active on the forums - not sure if that was her idea but it has been working for me since July!
I know Slowlyfading is intending setting up next year's thread - if you click on her name you can PM her (personal message) so she knows you are looking to join - she is very busy at the moment, developing her blog to the next level and reading that is another worthwhile tip (link from her details or to Frugal Cottage)
Good luck

#2 declaring £883.97 for this month. I'm really surprised by this - some of it is interest but I'm really not sure where the rest of it has come from. I'm a grand over my target for this year now, very pleased with this!Homeowner:j0
