  • Hi all, sorry I haven't reported in for a while. It's been a roller-coaster time though with both my wife (expectedly) and myself (unexpectedly) being paid off from work, so we have taken early retirement. We were planning to do this anyway but I was going to carry on at work for a few months and then leave, but the unexpected pay-off meant it wasn't worth it and I left as well. :D So the target has consequently taken a bit of a pounding. I still plan to save money each month though, as anything out of the monthly budget that doesn't get used, plus any interest on my accounts, will go towards the savings target. I'm hoping to save about £400 a month on that basis, so my target is now a more conservative £7,500. :)

I've declared £352.74 for August. I had actually "saved" around £700 but I bought a new phone so the cost of that has been taken off. :D
Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.

oh no Dird, what a shame :( Not your fault though so maybe just set a new target? ... It would be a shame to call it a day at this point.
I already changed it from £20k to £30k a couple months ago. Will just leave it to fail :P In some ways it is actually a relief; to have had a chance of reaching it I would have needed to live completely frugally, now I can buy some new clothes (trainers & boxers falling apart) and not stress about it
