    August payday update!

I only saved £290 in August (holiday spend took a chunk out of my money this month). That's £6,446 so far in 2016, and £101,656 overall.

Hoping for a better performance in the last four months of the year :o

  • A massive month for Mr & Mrs Matt_66. We had an offer accepted on a new house. My second, her first.

We were both saving like crazy to save a deposit to start looking in Q1 of 2017 but we spotted one that would be perfect last week and it was perfect. With a small loan from my boss we have enough to get the ball rolling.

With that in mind this could be the last proper update into this as my savings are about to disappear into legal fees, mortgage fees and the deposit.

    How exciting!!

Anywho, down to business, this month was pretty normal except £80 for the MOT and a small repair so declaring £1,299 for the month

    £42 interest
    £1,071 from salary
    £180 mileage claims
    £7 We buy books

    Voted, SF!

I'm declaring £2306.92 for August. Plain sailing this month, overall. I was pleased to negotiate a bit of money off the car insurance - by ringing up our current insurer and telling them how much we would save if we switched to a competitor. Saved us a few quid and saved me the hassle of having to sign-up with someone different.

    37 months until FIRE!

    Happy saving everyone.

    I am declaring £576 for August, so I have passed my target 4 months early. £6,357 / £6,000 :j

So happy with how this is going and extra happy with this month as I had a few expenses AND Amazon prime yearly payment came out this month.

Huge thanks to slowly fading for this thread and to everyone else whose posts help keep me motivated to keep squirreling the money away.

Well done you! I had the same target and have just challenged myself by extending it to £!0,000 so for me, that is just over £1000 a month for the last four months. Care to join me?
