So after my resolution to continue saving £1k per month for the rest of the year, This is #127 declaring a bit fat 0!! for June :(
This is because of how bad of a spendy May I had and I cleared my entire 'holiday fund' - £1500 that was earmarked to book my holiday to New York next April but I ended up spending it all on....I don't even know what, I have nothing to show for it!!!
So my friend has booked New York (YAY!) but I have to give him £970 this month so yeah, Nothing left to save :k
AND July will probably be the same again because my sister is pressuring to book for her wedding in Greece next May.
Now I have a dilemma with this because I will be having to pay as a single, which basically means I will be paying for 2 people and the quote I got for her hotel was £1132!!
Now the dilemma is.....Do I pay that so I can have the peace of not having to share a room OR do I bunk up with my parents for the week to save half of that? I don't know. I live with my parents and we get along fine but I don't know if I want to be in such close quarters for the whole week! @_@
    Saved so far - £28,890.97

I get along great with my Mum and Dad but if we went on holiday together I think I'd much rather have my own room, somewhere to escape to during the day if family members were getting on my nerves

I'm sorry the month has been heavily spendy for some of us, but I've actually got a little bit more good news! My pension lump sum has just been paid for a small LG pension - £4137! Now there's no way I won't make my target!

Hi all.. I don't think I will report any savings this month :( as the savings pot has been raided and then some (but not all) cash returned....so I will stick to May's total, reconcile, and pull my socks up for July.

  • End of May £500 for me. Well done everyone on the totals. Tara you are almost there. Congratulations.

I have a couple of interviews lined up later this month. Hoping to be able to really boost my savings if I get a new job.

Seems a few of us are struggling mid year :(.

I've made myself a few spreadsheets to get myself back on plan. Way too much money has been fluttered away the last 2 months and i dont have a huge amount to show for it.

Tara - I keep looking our for your £100k post :D. Hope to celebrate with you when the time comes

Good luck to everyone for July.

Will be £0 for me this month SF. Thanks xxx

It will be another 10 days before I can update for June but I am not optimistic that very much will be added to savings this month. Last month we started decorating our bedroom and this now finished so although some was paid out in May there was still a balance of £1k to pay on the bed which I have now paid. It is a very comfy bed though :)

We paid around £600 -£700 at Centre Parcs for meals out and activities for the family and also booked for next year so had to pay deposit of around £500. Also have Switzerland to pay for this month and just bought new TVs for living room. All pay out this. On the but I am hopeful that August to October will be savings months and we get my OHs lump sum when he retires in November.

Hey everyone. It's been ages since I last updated, mainly because everything has changed!

I left work in April, which was my own decision as I have been accepted onto a masters course in September, and I kind of wanted a summer off! I have not been enjoying my job for a long time, and I'm so pleased I have left.

I also bought a campervan with m savings from last year... so I will be gallivanting around in it this summer, if the sunshine ever returns!

I'm also having lots of work done on my house, so I won't be adding any more savings for this year. However, this challenge has enabled me to have the savings to do all of this, so I am very grateful to you all. And will hopefully be back in the middle of next year when I am qualified and working again!

Good luck to everyone on achieving your goals xx
