Do please give us an update when the switch is done. Will be interesting to see how much Avro drag their feet in issuing the final bill and then refunding any credit balance.

  • Will do, sometimes cheaper isn't worth it
  • Yep, so I'm right to contact MSE?
Seems so. Looking back at my exchanges they take anywhere between a day and a week to come back.
I've taken screenshots of everything too
    Always a good idea.
  • I've signed up today. Previously on First Utility April v3+. Gas price has gone slightly up, an increase of 2.9% compared to if I stayed with FU, best I can do in an increase gas price climate. Plus I'll be consuming gas more, so the best gas price is important to me than standing charges and electricity.
    Student loan: Cleared.

Ombudmans Services has ruled in my favour - they said that AE had shortfalls in customer service for lack of contact and for not refunding my large credit amount (£800) without any reason. There should be a refund, DD reassessment, apology and £50 goodwill gesture forthcoming.
I presume the ombudsman decision is binding?

It's supposed to be once you accept the ruling, but from what I can see they're not that keen on enforcement.

Congratulations, please keep us updated if you do get all that, I hope you do
  • It may be cheap but this comes with very poor customer service. It is very very difficult to get through by phone. But what is most worrying is that they hold on to your credit. I have been trying to get some of mine refunded and although they agree to do so. Six weeks later after several emails and attempts to contact no refund. There is absolutely no way I would use this company again. Avoid at all costs
  • I moved back to Scottish Power and switch completed on 26 February, Avro have now taken ANOTHER month's direct debit. I am now almost £200 in credit and may have to wait weeks for the refund they say. The final bill was prepared today after I called them but they have not accounted for the payment taken today.
They were cheap for a year but Scottish Power were cheaper after at my last check.
Avro billing is a joke and took ages to set up, if you don't put readings in at the exact date required they cannot get bill right.
Just put in a reading to Scottish Power and almost instant update of the account.
