You could cancel it now and advise Avro.
Since you have switched and the final bill excludes today's payment, you could ask your bank to reclaim it for you under the Direct Debit guarantee.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

I did a few reviews on Avro Energy lately, I have been struggling to get my credit back after switching to a different supplier. Must say it’s a huge relief to be away from them now.
I was persistent in chasing my money before using resolver. I had thought that there was no longer a contact telephone number but called them the other day and got through to my astonishment. I was owed £300 which I received today, sent numerous emails and a lot of negative posts through Twitter. This company is poor and I think will go bust at some point soon (complete speculation). I won’t post anything else regarding them now as I have plastered bad reviews anywhere I possibly can but thought I should leave this final note that I got my money back without going to the ombudsman and that they do have an operational telephone line.0 -

Well you could knock me down with a feather! Just checked my bank account and at long last - well since early Dec 2018 when I left these cowboys I have finally received my credit balance back from them.
I will be very wary of moving to a little-known energy company in the future.0 -

It's supposed to be once you accept the ruling, but from what I can see they're not that keen on enforcement.
Hmm, my next DD is due in a few days and I only accepted the ombudsman decision a few days ago. AE have another 28 days to resolve it assuming they accept the decision by the 29th Mar. So that's time for them to take another two DDs!
I did cancel my DD a couple of months ago but AE called up straight away and said I was breaching the T&Cs, and they promised an account review. So I re-established it. Of course the review didn't happen so I used the ombudsman.
But I'm running out of patience (and money)! So if I cancel the DD now and inform them, will they just use the credit amount to cover the bill and I won't be at risk of invalidating the ombudman decision?0 -

If you have switched to another supplier and it has been confirmed that the switch has completed then you can cancel the DD. You should advise the supplier as soon as possible.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

The other concern is about the risk of a supplier going bust owing credit. It doesn't seem to be clear what the situation is, although I think I saw somewhere that if you switch supplier, the risk of losing any credit is increased. Will try to dig out the ref.0

I’m in credit to my old supplier. Will I get this money back?
Your new supplier will pay back the outstanding credit you may have.

Recent 'Supplier of Last Resort' transfers had included an arrangement of credit refunds for both current and former customers. Then came the Economy Energy customers transferred to Ovo where it transpired that EE had significantly inflated recent energy consumption which significantly reduced the credit balances on customer accounts. Ovo is now arguing with EE's administrators to get the credit balances back but the administrators are resisting.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
