Avro Energy reviews: Give your feedback

Been with Avro two years now, very pleased with them. I check tariffs monthly and up until April last year they were bringing out new and cheaper tariffs, fixed term, switched just with an email, and as well as cheaper the term gets extended each time - four times now. The last switch was a year ago, so that's about to expire, but they have offered me a new tariff (Simple and SuperSaver) which while being dearer than the one I'm on is still only £3 pm dearer than the cheapest, so on that basis I'll be staying with them. It'll be interesting to see if wholesale prices drop in the summer, so maybe new cheaper tariffs.
Incidentally trying to compare the new tariff on CEC hasn't worked. I've changed to the new tariff name, and it is displayed when I log on, but the savings are still based on the default standard tariff that I would go to if I did nothing. The new tariff is displayed in the list, saying I could save £117 if I switched to the tariff I've said I'm now on!0 -
I'm switched away and they still took another direct debit despite being told on the phone (yes I got through eventually and there is still a number on their customer portal) that they would not be taking any more because my account was so far in credit - of course they have promised to refund that more than once and it hasn't happened which is why I am switching away... I'd still advise to AVOID Avro

I'm with Avro, within my switching window now and decision time is rapidly approaching. They are showing up (CEC) as the cheapest medium-sized supplier for me on their Simple and SuperSaver tariff but I really don't know if I want to chance it.
I need coffee !
However, CEC shows EDF as offering a cheaper fixed tariff for me than Avro, which was a pleasant surprise. Bit of time yet, want to stay on the current Avro tariff until (and perhaps even a bit beyond) the bitter end. Then going to EDF, if that tariff is still available, will be a no-brainer. Sure, there's an exit penalty, but I can live with that. I've been with EDF before, and they understand the meaning of customer service, which I fear is disappearing from Avro's vocabulary. I will also cancel my DD as soon as I've left Avro. EDF don't take payments in advance either, so I'll get a one month payment holiday too. Will probably have a small credit balance with Avro, so not the end of the world if they refuse or drag their heels over paying that back.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Hello Graham,
Thanks for your message. I have discussed this with a senior member of staff and we are unaware of any introduction fees to be paid to MSE. The cashback incentive is nothing to do with Avro and is purely through MSE.
Best wishes ^Todd
[Edit] Has anyone who switched to Avro in the last MSE collective switch got their £25 cashback?
[Edit2] After an exchange they've come back with:
Thanks for your message. We do not pay MSE or any other energy sites to switch customers to us. Best wishes ^Todd
Which is at variance with the info given for the MSE Collective Switch. Now who do I believe...
I haven't got my cashback either. I'd already emailed MSE but no reply as yet.
I assume no one has?0 -

CEC says switching to Avro does not earn any cashback.
Here's the archived MSE newsletter announcing the collective switch - under 'MSE Winner 2: Avro' it has 'incl MSE cashback':

So it looks like either MSE screwed up or Avro have decided to renegue on paying the cashback they agreed to.0 -

Going by the postings on here, I'd favour the latter suggestion.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Definitely due £25 cashback and it has no exit fees as well.
I assume I can make a complaint to ofgem if MSE don't pay the cashback regardless of whether it should come from them or Avro?0 -

Avro began supply to me on 19th October and the £25 cashback from MSE (shown on my statement as being from Moneysupermarket) hit my account on 13th December.
So it's not a blanket screw up, but MSE won't give you the cashback if they've not received the referral fee from Avro.
Double check you've not been paid, and, if not, your complaint should be addressed to MSE as it's them who pay the cashback. MSE will also be losing revenue if Avro haven't paid them so are unlikely to let matters rest.0 -
