We are with them at present and current tariff ending so after looking around thought we would stay with Avro and Simple Winter Fix - however when going through there link to renew the only tariff offered to us was Seasonal Fix option.....only this.
An email 10 days ago was acknowledged but no answer to our query which was had they factored in our £140 credit into the estmated new monthly charge which varies ie spring summer/then jumps higher autumn winter....

As for speaking to them well ......how and any idea on best time to phone!!!!
Stayed on phone 3 times each over 15 mins. Last time was over 30mins.....tryed mid morning early afternoon.

If we do shift goodness knows who we would get or credit back

We hear about the Big 6....well I managed to get through to one on Monday for MIL it took a few rings and phone was answered.....just a shame there prices aren't good for us

over 10 days no response to emails, not even read my Facebook messages as not showing as 'seen' let alone responded.

Surely they must be the next to bomb out the market any moment?

Strangely MSE were plugging them on recent newsletters!
  • Switching to Avro was easy and I had a year of competitively priced energy and an easy to use online account. However, now I've switched away from them it's been a nightmare getting my money back and closing statements. Meanwhile my online account suggests I'm still being billed and shows completely inaccurate statements. Upon switching they send an email saying a closing statement may take 8 weeks. It's now 10 weeks and I don't have my money. I phoned them and the had the audacity to say they were awaiting confirmation (whatever that means) which they'd had many weeks before. To make matters worse at the end of my call they informed me it could be another 10 days before the closing statements are finalised and any monies owed returned. It all smacks of doing everything they can to hold on to cash. Either that or complete incompetence. This behaviour should be illegal.
  • Parso1 It could've been me writing your post. We are owed over £500 by Avro. We left them at the end of November/early December. Still await Final Bill, like you.

So now Avro site is quoting me a renewal of only Simple and WinterFix.

Its the only one showing on the comparison sites too so will probably go for it, fixed 12 months.

Its is shocking though how prices have risen, £50 a month more than my last deal! I am lucky enough to be able to live with it but it must crucify some people :sad::sad:

That's odd. I'm seeing 5 tariffs available on the Avro site (Eastern region), including their standard variable, Simple Energy.

    https://www.avroenergy.co.uk/Prices

    I see:-

    Simple Energy
    Simple Energy PAYG
    Simple and eSave
    Simple and uSuper
as well the WinterFix (no longer seasonal)

I haven't checked their prices though.

is this via your online account as I can't see anything when I log in?

Sorry for delay. Its when I (logged out) clicked on get a quote on their home page, it asks for my address, when I put that in it recognises I am already a customer and takes me to the log in screen, then gives me the quoted tariff. (West Midlands region)

Previously it was only showing me Simple and WinterFix Seasonal

now its only showing Simple and WinterFix, flat payment all year.

The rates are the same on both. Decided to renew as comparisons sites showed within a few quid difference they were nearly the cheapest still for me.

It's getting close to the point where it is in their financial interest to drop the "seasonal" tariff in favour of a flat one for the year. That way they'll collect more through the 6 summer months than they would have on the reduced seasonal tariff.

  • I am in exactly the same boat as you. I left because they were not using accurate meter readings and I was nearly £500 in credit which they would not refund. Why does a closing statement take upto 8 weeks when surely the last monthly statement would show the correct bill.
Absolute joke this company. They are just holding customers monies and making excuses not to refund.

I finally got £200 of my £350 credit back. Took about 6 weeks from first asking.
