So I guess that now you'll be asking for your credit balance to be refunded. That could be interesting, Perhaps you'll let us know how that goes. I would do it by email so I would have a starting date in case I needed to later refer a complaint to the Ombudsman.

  • I switched from Avro Energy on 05-Sep-2018 when my 'Simple and Connected' contract ended. I supplied readings to both my new supplier (YE) and to Avro Energy. I appreciate that the Avro needs to receive the final reading from the new supplier.
My account was over £200 in credit (I understand why). Trying to get a final statement and the balance refunded is proving difficult.
I would not recommend Avro Energy to anyone for this reason. I have tried contacting them by email on 24-Sep-2018 requesting a final statement and the transfer of my credit balance: no response. Last week I tried on both Facebook and Twitter: words but no tangible response.
I am effectively providing Avro Energy with an interest free loan.

I’m an ex-Avro customer in exactly the same situation as you;...it’s easier contacting the dead than getting a reply from Avro.
  • I have harangued them again this morning on both Twitter and Facebook and have finally had a response, and a final statement. Avro Energy now know what amount they need to refund me, and will do it "at the end of the week". I have requested interest to be paid on the account credit amount since my switch 05-Sep-2018 until 12-Oct-2018: 37 days.
  • I switched to Avro in May.
I have been providing them with readings every month and additional ones when they've asked for them
I am paying via direct debit every month
But no bills, so I don't know if I'm in credit or debit. After 5 months I would have thought I'd have at least one bill or a monthly total.

Has anyone else had this issue with them ?

    I had the same issue.
I contacted them a few weeks ago via social media - they sent a PM to me for my account details - popped back in half an hour and said it was sorted.

True enough when I logged in the statements were showing back to July.
Must be some sort of glitch.

If your DD has been set as one twelfth of your estimated annual consumption then, over the summer, you are likely to be in credit for a good few months yet - especially as Avro collect DDs a month in advance so you pay 13 DDs in a year.

When I switched to Avro 2 and a half years ago my DD went out in advance on the 4th of the month and its always been taken on the 4th so although I paid the first one in advance its evened itself out as far as the balance is concerned. But I always have a useful credit balance going into winter and by spring its down to zero. I have never paid 13 DD's in a year as suggested.

I did finally get this resolved. Although that wasn't straightforward. I got a response saying that they couldn't find my account (even though I sent them the account number) and had to send a whole load more information.

Then I got a response saying that everything was in order and my statements were available online. It kind of read, like they had been there all the time and more fool me for not finding them (which of course they were not). There was no apology nor explanation no still feeling a little let down, but at least I now know where my account stands and I don't have to go looking for a new supplier just yet.

Well, you're kinda splitting hairs in that if you switch suppliers at the end of the Avro contract then it will be more than likely that you will pay a 13th DD (or more) before the switch completes.
