If I log into my new Octopus Account and click Switch Tarrif it shows my current tarrif as Flexible Avro and also has quotes for Octopus 12M Fixed and Loyal Octopus 12M Fixed. A big difference in the prices
    No surprise there then :)
No i meant a big difference in the two new Octopus quotes, one is £207M the other is £146M
Which two tariffs were they offering?
You might see that difference on a 12 vs 24 month fix, but looking at the current tariffs I can't see that sort of range...

For those ex Avro customers wondering about when to upload their monthly meter readings after the initial meter readings from Avro have been transferred across to your Octopus account I found this which may be worth reading. Having looked at the previous suppliers I've been with the vast majority seem to prefer the last day of every month which is what I'm planning to do as it keeps life simple should you ever transfer to another supplier.

That's what I've been doing with Avro in addition to the requested readings, which for me were mid-month, as I read all four three meters on the last day of the month anyway.

It took a while for me to find out that the date I needed to supply readings to Avro was the 8th of each month. A day earlier or later always resulted in an estimated reading.

My Octopus bill based on standing charge and rates works out at about £125/month (was £84/month with Avro) but they are offering a 12 month fix at £207/month which might prove to be a good deal the way things are going.

The fix sounds a bit too rich for my blood at a 60% premium to the Flexible. I think I'll wait a bit before committing to a fix.

I probably wouldn't be tempted by a 1 year fix at that much of a premium.
If you are like most people, you will use the majority of your energy over the next 6 months of that year while your current 'flexible' capped tariff is actually fixed.
When it is able to change in 6 months you'll be into the lower use period for the rest of the year that you have fixed, so your risk is lower as well...
