Octopus has said on its web-site that the tariff they will put us on will be priced at £10 under the cap. This implies that prices, whilst the cap remains, cannot increase by very much. So you will effectively be on a very-nearly fixed rate until April when the cap is revised again.

I know this can be confusing, especially with all the news reports talking about monetary values in relation to the price cap without mentioning unit prices.

The cap is based on a number of different payment methods and metering types with different caps for each, but for the purposes of understanding what it means just look at one combination, a customer with both gas and electricity paying by monthly direct debit..

The cap sets a maximum annual cost for that customer assuming they will use 3100kWh of electricity and 12,0000kWh of gas over a year. It also sets a maximum for the amount of that cost that can be taken for the standing charge.

Obviously if you use less than those kWh figures you will pay less, if you use more then you will pay more.

That is the cap, and where the numbers you see being quoted come from, but they cannot just give you a number for the unit price per kWh as those figures also vary by region across the country.

As Dolor as said, I am sure the announcement of the tariff details will be made very soon now and the odds are it will be the October V2 Flexible tariff that currently appears on their website as it matches the promise of being set £10 below the cap.

What that actually means for the amount you will pay depends entirely on where you live and how much energy you will use.

I've only just realised the v2 rates are now on the Octopus web-site. They weren't there when I checked yesterday.

I think you're probably right that it will be those rates we get. Thanks for the heads-up on the rates being published.

Finally managed to get pdf files of my last bills with Avro. Don't know if others were having the same problem, but when I (eventually) managed to get to the page showing a summary of my last few bills I was selecting the 'View' button and only getting a page showing

"message": "Service Unavailable"
}

but by repeating the process by selecting the 'View' button 4 or 5 times it then gave me the option to download the pdf file of the bill. 
Hope this helps others and I'm not repeating what someone else has already said.

I know they've gone bust but I've just moved to Avro from Igloo. I can't enter my initial gas readings on the Avro website; electricity I can.

I've been trying since yesterday, using several browsers. Is anyone having the same problem?

You are doing better than me, I cannot enter either gas or electricity.

OctopusEnergy sent an email with a link to enter meter reading for customers having trouble doing it on the Avro site

Even up to today. As the new cap and Octopus rate starts tomorrow.
